It was hard to get used to at first for me now I love it and can not sleep without it. I tried the full mask at first then went to the nose mask. I used a chin strap at first but then learned to keep my mouth shut. I would suggest you work on it every night and try to get used to it. My doctor insisted on a 2 months constant use for new dx cpapers before he will set a surgery date. I think he does that because his one death post op was a noncompliant sleep apnea pt who never wore his cpap and died sleeping on the couch.

Hi everyone I am home. Passing gas up and down so that's good. I get up and do 5 laps around the apartment. Taking my pain meds. Belly is quite sore, but I still have my q pump so the burn is not to bad. The SI joint thing went away what a relief that added so much pain to my experience completely unrelated to my surgery lol. My doc gave me tordol an NSAID . I questioned him but he reassured me a short course would be ok and I jumped at it. I think it worked hope it hold that SI joint. Buttttttttttttttttt I went into atrial fib last nite so walking is a bit more tiring and I think it makes me pee very frequently cuz it runs more fluid through the kidneys and a faster rate then normal so I have been up every two hours to the br all night ick! I have to take my Bp medicine crushed and it tastes gross but you got to do what you got to do. My son and daughter in law measured me last night all over so we would have a baseline to compare to will enter them into my pt profile. Good recoveries everyone I can't wait til I am not so sore.

As I posted before my surgery went great, I got all my horrible complications pre op starting with MRSA scare, a fib episodes, injuring my SI joint during my IVC filter placement, and busting my toe with the scale in the br right before my surgery. Post op the worse pain has been my SI joint pain, I am able to walk very well, passed my leak test, tolerating clears, and been burping away from the start so no shoulder pain just occasional burning pain around my q pump. I am not hungry at all my taste buds are fine so far and I still love to chew ice and tolerate cold so I am happy about that. I love being able to drink sip sip sip no problems but I do take everything slow. I have used my incentive spirometer like a religion and am almost back to pre op levels. I talked my doc into keeping my pca through the night tonight cuz the SI joint was still hurting a lot but that got better today spontaneously and I am not using it much so I feel fine about switching to oral pain meds tmr. Hope to go home tmr not sure when I will know. Oh my blood sugars have improved greatly and my Bp is normal so I have refused the Bp med they wanted to start cuz I Think it will bottom me out and my nurses agree. That's my story and I am sticking to it good luck to all in their recoveries!

Pre op pic While going to the bathroom I noticed the wall type scale and decided to do a final pre op wt. while undoing the bottom part I dropped it on my toe, busting the skin and will Probably lose the nail but my final wt is 418.7. A reduction of almost 30 lbs. Sent from my iPhone using RNYTalk

You go dude eliminate irradicate decimate those pounds. I am doing great RNY wise. My si joint issue is also a bit better today. However I do get extremely anxious about it and when it does happen I totally freak. If not for that I would be a star pupil I have been walking, took my " leak" test passed with flying colors : and actually walked the whole half hour waiting for the contrast to pass through before the second X-ray Got back to my room took a good nap. My doc came in and said he was giving me tordol an NSAID I questioned him but he said it was fine. I am thrilled it should help the hip joint issue a lot. In fact even before the tordol I fit up with the physical therapist with no pain to the area just some burning in the stomach incision area but bareable. Walked around the unit then voided again. I to have to be at the hospital at 530 for a 730 surgery. My son and I are leaving at 430 am just to be sure we get there on time. I am packed but I still have tremendous pain from my SI joint injury. good thing is walking helps so I am motivated to get up for two reasons and all the pain is distracting me from any worry or fear. I am almost 12 hours until my surgery time, I have to be at the hospital at 530 am. My SI joint is still painful but a bit better. I excoriated my skin on my backside with the ice pack I made and now have a dressing on it, hope it heals up some for tomorrow. I have reduced another 8 lbs. went to the pcps office today to weigh in thats 28 Lbs eliminated pre op. I took my collection of Davinci syrups out of storage but could not find my smaller sized clothes. I did find my smaller scrubs including a brand new pair that's butter soft and I never got to wear them. They almost fit when I bought them but then I Gained wt. Send your positive energy my way tomorrow. I will be bringing my iPad but not sure when or if I Will be able to get on

Oh I have reduced to 428 as of last thursday 20 lbs eliminated so far pre op yeah! and since I have been so ill since my IVC filter I haven't eaten hardly at all still on optifast but had 2 meals yesterday and 1 the day before felt so icky. today I had a cup of coffee decaf! and a optifast bar, plus 2 sugar free popsicles. still having a lot of pain in the top of my thigh but less then yesterday keeping ice on in to decrease the inflammation but i wish i could take a motrin but noooooooo never again

hang in there jessica we are all pulling for you! Timing your meds is a very good idea i plan to take that advice. I think a push before you attempt using the incentive spirometer, walking, and even moving in bed is a good idea if you need it do it!

As for me did I mention I am a drama queen lol Hopefully it's like a play and I am getting all the complications done in rehearsal instead of opening night. After my IVC filter I developed a raging pain in the top of my thigh and my right butt cheek. It actually started before they did the filter on the table. I called the doc from CVIR he said it could not be from the filter. I called my chiropractor and when I got there my hip Was completely out my right foot was literally 2 inches shorter. He put ice on it for a few then adjusted me but when i got home I could not get Comfortable unless I laid on my stomach ( haven't done that since I was 8). Been putting ice packs on it all day trying to rest fair condition right now. Also my damn drs office called me Friday to tell me I needed to drive all the way to their office (45 min in good traffic) to be weighed Monday. I was like I am working 9-5 monday I just weighed myself thursday at the pcps and I was reduced to 428 net reduction 20 lbs since I started low carb and Optifast. They finally agreed to let me weigh at my pcps office Monday and call them. Ok enough about me Michelle welcome to the group and we are having our surgery the same day! Jennifer hope everything went well for you today! I had my filter placement this am all is fine m neck s a bit sore. Talked to the drs office everything is in order we are on track for Tuesday .

I am going to get my IVC filter inserted tomorrow. I have to be at the hospital at 930 am. Had a very bad reaction to a new pain med my doc tried yesterday but feel great today. I went to my hospital pre op class, it was fine. My trial packs of oh yeah and nectar arrived I haven't tried them yet might wait til post op. I got my infectious disease clearance letter faxed it to the docs office. So I am a go!
