    Initial Consultation

Hi Butterfly66, i had my consult on 7/9 and was told my insurance would cover the Psych consult. Not all insurances do, they said mine happen to cover it. hope yours is covered too. had my psych eval on 7/18 and you have to do a written test, True/False (240 questions), then meet with the Psychologist, she asked alot of questions and and was trying to dig deep to why i am over weight, at the end she said she recommends that i see a therapist to discuss and find out what triggers me to eat so much, but she said it is not required that i go, but she will ask that i provide her with a letter before they set my surgery date that i will be meeting with a therapist. someone in my support group said they dont follow up with that. either way, not a bad thing to know what is causing these triggers other then being hungry. Good luck and welcome !

Question About The 6 Month Diet

Someone in my required nutrition class asked that question and the dietician said that they use your first weigh in as what they submit to insurance. They want us to loose, but i was not told i have to loose any specific amount, just to try and loose some weight and that I will have to do the 2 weeks all liquid pre-op diet, i think thats a good idea, so i can prepare myself for what the next few months - year will be like.

    My First Post

Hey everyone!! This is my first post. I've been reading all the posts/threads on here since I made the decision to have surgery 2 months ago..I am 375 pounds and have a long way to go. I met the bariatric team where I plan on having my surgery 2 weeks ago and had my psych eval last Wednesday and attended my first and only mandatory support group.. ( I plan to continue to go to support group even though I don't have too, found it very informative and helpful) My insurance requires me to go to 3 nutrition classes before we can submit for surgery approval. I had my first class at my first appt with doctor and have 2 more nutrition classes to go. I wish I started this Journey at least a year ago. In this last year I put on an extra 100 pounds. All this yo yo dieting really messed me up. I am thankful and grateful to have all of you, other then my Dr's office I've never shared my weight before, so this is our little secret . Thanks for sharing your stories and I look forward to chatting with all if you.
