My surgery was 7/24/12. You said your Dr is conservative when it comes to the malabsorption. how so? Just curious
-
So far so good. I feel much more in control over what I am eating. Mostly since I am no longer hungry. You just have to fight the head hunger, which seems easier after the surgery. My only bump is that right now I am stalled which is frustrating. But I just have to remind myself that I have to be patient. As long as I stay within the guidelines, the weight will come off. You just have to give your body time to adjust. If you have any specific questions I will be happy to do my best at answering them. I am a little suprised no one else has jumped in to give their 2 cents. Also there are forums specific to the band to bypass conversion. You could check those out as well.

I would call the doc to make sure, but I am pretty sure it is normal.

Welcome! I also had the surgery at the end of July. Since the surgery I have lost 40 lbs too:) currently stalled though:(

Congrats! Amazing how good real food tastes after being on liquids for so long!
-
I have read on here if you mix your food intake up and increase the intensity of your workouts that it helps you break out of a stall. I am currently in a stall (almost 4 weeks now) and have increased my workouts. Unfortunately I can't seem to increase my food intake though. I am only 2 months post op. I can't seem to break through the stall. Going back to the liquid diet sounds like a great idea...Your story is amazing. Congrats on your weight loss journey thus far! And good luck with your last 10-15 lbs.

Congrats and welcome to the other side! -
I should clarify. I just had the rny surgery not the band to bypass.
-
I hear a lot of people switching from band to bypass. I had the surgery 7/24/12 and have lost a total of 47 pounds. I highly recommend rny. I am currently at a stall, but wouldn't change it for the world. I am never hungry which makes it easier to stick to the new way of life. I find myself not even wanting the unhealthy food choices I would have picked before. The biggest challenge is for me right now is the stall I am in, but patience is the key. I know if I stick to the program the weight will come off in the end. Good luck on whichever surgery you choose! This is an excellent resource.

I would check with your doc regarding carbs and how many u can have.
-
My doctor prescribed zofran. Specifically for nausea. If eating makes u sick, thus might help. But this won't help if it is the look of the food blended that makes u sick.
-
Some say to change up the diet and increase exercise intensity. It works for some....
-
I think that is normal. Usually around 5-7 weeks. I hit mine at 6 qeeks. Now at 8 weeks still stalled. Haven't lost anything since my 6 week mark. Try not to get discouraged, just keep following five orders, we will be losing again in no time:)
-
Well happy bday belated! Maybe he could give u something not as strong like vicoden? I didn't like that dilaudid. Too strong. Good luck. Oh and the stomach brace does help too:)
-
Every doc is different. My doc doesn't have us do a pureed stage. Just soft and misguided foods like scrambled eggs or mushed cauliflower or tuna or cheese, etc... Just chew really well! Good luck. I am with u, there is no way I could handle my food pureed:)

That is wonderful. Welcome to the loser's club! Remember walk and sip.....

Left Side Pain Gone!

Glad to hear it! Enjoy your pain free day. -
Lebim, notice the use of lose and loose:) lol

We had surgery on the same date. I am down a total of 47 (pre op included). I have not lost a single pound in the last 3 weeks. So for comparison sakes you are doing great! I agree with DL. I would definitely talk to the Dr about the nausea and vomiting. That doesn't sound right. Keep your chin up, we can do this! Besides, it is better to lose it slowly, that way we will not have as much loose skin:)
