0Fficially My 6 Month Mark!
Mel Delburne replied to sweet's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Congrats. You look awesome! What is your work out routine like? I'm 4 weeks post op and other than walking I've been told to not work out until 6-10 weeks. I'm excited and nervous at the same time to work out. I barely am taking food in so I worry about passing out after a good hard work out. -
Thank you. I guess it's all a part of healing. I am hoping it gets better soon but right now I use protein drinks to get my nutrition in.

2 Weeks Post Op - Infection
Mel Delburne replied to LosingItForMe2011's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I hope you are healing. I too have an infection on my left lower incision. I'm on liquid Tylenol with codeine for pain because the pain is bad. I'm on a cream antibiotic and a liquid oral antibiotic which tastes awful. I've had the infection for two weeks and the incision has finally closed. I'm still on antibiotics for the next five days or so. This infection has really slowed my healing down. I'm sleeping constantly and I'm sore. Take care of yourself. -
Dumping The Confusion About Dumping
Mel Delburne replied to DLCoggin's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Very good post. It's informative to show that dumping isn't just vomiting. -
I am almost four weeks post op. I have dumped on skim milk, beef broth and chicken. One minute my body likes a food and the next meal my body hates it.

Any Canadians Out There?
Mel Delburne replied to Mel Delburne's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
Hi! Are you post op? I'm from Ontario originally. -
I am two weeks post op and I'm now allowed to start "mush." I've tried cottage cheese. I took one taste of baby food and I don't like it. Any ideas for mush? Anyone tried tuna or is that too thick?
-
I am 2 1/2 weeks post op. I started mush a few days ago but prefer full fluids right now. I am having incredible head hunger even though I know I couldn't possibly eat real food right now. It's the power of suggestion. As I'm healing I'm watching my family eat meals or I'm watching tv with commercials or tv shows where people are eating. Everything looks good. I hate it. I wish I could get over this head hunger when I know I'm not physically hungry. Anyone else going through this?

Newbie:) 4 Days Until Surgery!
Mel Delburne replied to Abuvave's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
...sorry...I hit done on my phone... I bought 3 other powders that I can't stand. They are too chalky and thick. My friend gave me a sample of Isopure from the US which is more like a clear juice...koolaid. I like it better. You guys have way more Protein drink options in the States. Best of luck with your surgery. -
Newbie:) 4 Days Until Surgery!
Mel Delburne replied to Abuvave's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The best way to expel the gas is by walkin. The sooner you can get out of bed the better. I had surgery in Red Deer, Alberta, Canada and the nurse forced me out of bed a few hours after surgery to try and walk. I was still too dizzy so I tried again later. I kept walkin around the hospital as much as I could. Oh and a heating pad is good for gas pain too as your waiting for it to expel. It can travel to odd areas like your shoulders. I am having a hard time with Protein drinks. I wouldn't buy too many because you might not like the taste after surgery. I was drinking premier nutrition from costco but I find them so heavy after surgery that I barely drink them. I have purchased three -

Hi. I am 13 days post op and I am getting hiccups. I am drinking slowly. It takes me 3 hours to drink one protein drink. I will have the hiccups after consuming something or hours later when I haven't had anything. Has anyone else had this?

Thanks for the ideas

Fast Food Examples Needed
Mel Delburne replied to cutiepieme's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Maybe chili? -
I have thrown up once from beef broth. I am two weeks post op. I understand what you mean by hot flashes. There are some liquids I drink where I get that hot flash and i worry that it will come up. So far I prefer cold drinks to hot. I started mush yesterday and have kept things down but I do get dizzy and warm.

Any Canadians Out There?

Hi. Thanks for replying...even if you aren't Canadian. lol I am two weeks post up now and I am feeling some pain on my left side. I am tired a lot. My first week post op I think I overdid it. I went on long walks and thought I was feeling good enough to go out with friends to walk the mall. My body got back at me and I have been tired ever since.I am taking it easy. How has your recovery been? -
Thanks. I talked to my family doctor and nurse and they think my diaphragm is irritated after surgery. I take really slow sips and put my glass down each time. these hiccups happen around a time when I am not even drinking.

Thanks for the info. I go for my check up tomorrow
