Well I should know a little more insurance wise at the consult then. Five more months in the grand scheme of things isn't so bad compared to the rest of your new life ahead of you I have to wait at least 3 as of right now lol it's exciting but nerve Racking at the same time!

Ok great, thanks its so exciting! They said at the informational meeting on average time from consult to surgery was 2 months! It's crazy to think I could even be thin and healthier let alone not so far off from now!

How This Will Affect You In Old Age?
kloveburd replied to kloveburd's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Ok yeah my moms close friend had the surgery and she lost 150 lbs but then gained 50 back. But she does not exercise and she drinks a lot. I'm guessing this is why it has come back! Also I'm glad everyone cleared up the soup prospect, I love chili and soups! I will ask my dr when I go in for my consult as to why the informational dr said no soup. Thanks! -

And DLC I'm sure taking vitamins the rest of my life is very much doable. Way better than not living life because my weight is holding me back! -

Ok good lol. I was getting scared that eventually this would be something I would regret as I got older. From what I've seen though almost everyone says they would do it again in a heartbeat. Is everyone that gets the bypass on vitamins the rest of their lives or just some of the patients that are deficient in some of the essentials? Worried about malnutrition and how it would effect my bone mass later in life and how much you spend on vitamins monthly? -
I've come to a crossroads in my life where I know change is necessary for the life I want to lead, and I want to have the gastric bypass surgery. I'm prepared for the changes, excercising routines, everything. I've went to the informational meeting, had a physical with my dr and all. I'm 307lbs at 5'4" and only 22. I have discussed the surgery to my family and a few close friends and they have been very supportive. The only one that hasn't been understanding has been my boyfriend of 4 years. He says I should just diet and exercise but when I explain it's not as simple as you think (he's very thin, has never had a weight problem) he blows it off and says I don't try hard enough. I asked him to sit and research with me to get more informed but he won't. Should I proceed with the surgery or just go his route?
