  1. "I would be carefull how much energy u are expending at this point. Yes u want to lose some before surgery but you will also develop issues if your burning huge amounts of calories and not getting much nutrition in." My thinking exactly! Kind of like entering a car race, taking off full throttle and running out of gas part-way through. Need more fuel and less expenditures from your system before it's prepared. HOWEVER, you CAN do this, just be balanced, silly-one! You aren't on a 'crash-diet'. Those days are over.. Time to readjust the thinking process too. It's all a learning process.. We ALL need those re-adjustments, you aren't alone. Dawn
  2. my surgery is Aug 3rd. Joe, Wow.. Just a few days away... I don't even have a date yet and I'M nervous! Nobody said it would be easy.. (easy to do, nor easy to decide..). At this point you must be anxious/nervous... But I wish you the best in your next Life's Adventure! I'm going with this plan; I spent the first 48 tears of my life doing what I wanted; I'll spend the next 48 BEING the person I want. JUST DO IT! Dawn ;D
  3. Liquid diet.. I've done individual days here and there to see how I will manage when the time comes to do this every day for a month. What I notice is that mid morning and mid afternoon I'm exhausted! I could fall asleep at my desk talking to someone! It's awful! I'm drinking Body Fortress which is a protein pdr. Sometimes I drink 2 servings at a time. Not only do I become exhausted, but I get jittery and sometimes nauseous. (yes, I still drink black coffee. 2-3 cups in the a.m.) Has anyone else had this problem? I also use my c-pap @ night. Thanks in advance for any suggestions! Dawn

    Open Gastric Bypass.

hi Alisa, your scar doesn't seem very big from your pic. Are you healing well? I was hoping for the laproscopic surgery, but due to a car accident when I was 5, with a ruptured bowel, I have scar tissue & a long scar on my belly about 3 inches above my belly button that goes down to about to my pelvic bone. I was told by the nurse that the Surgeon will start laproscopic, and see what it looks like inside, but most likely become a full open surgery. Did you have any problems with bleeding during surgery? Thx Dawn

    Pre-Op Liquid Diet

Thanks! I'm still a few months pre-surgery, hoping for end of September. Maybe the reality hasn't hit me yet.. I didn't do very well with my 6 months of Dietary counseling. I've gotten so fed up with diets, that i haven't taken this 100% serious YET. Doing my research & learning what to expect- but i might just be somewhat blind sided the day of surgery. This may sound crazy, and correct me if i'm on the wrong course... but im likening this to a person in an accident.. they wake up in the hospital & maybe they've lost a limb... they need to do rehab & learn how to live their life in a different way.. being forced to. or refuse to & live a very unhappy life. i want to be the person who is determined to make the change, go with the 'rehab' and struggles, but come out in the long run a winner. Today i don't feel like a winner, because I KNOW what to eat, what to avoid, what to buy, what to stay away from.. but.. do i do it? not everytime... but if i don't now...in September it will be a must! I'm 48 next month, i have 3 grandsons; 5 months - 4 years old. i want the second 1/2 of my life to be healthy and happy.. Can i do this? I CAN...if i can get the mind set & take that first step... this is more of a mind game than a weight loss problem! What did YOU do, pre-surgery, when the reality of the seriousness of surgery hit you? Dawn

    Pre-Op Liquid Diet

Hi.. Quick question.. When you are on the liquid diet, can you make Protein smoothies & add fruit or sugar free puddings...etc? If it's all blended, it's "liquid"... Isn't it? Thx Dawn

    Moments Of Weakness !

In response to.. The.new.cassie... Hi I'm Dawn, new to the forum..I'm somewhere in the middle of the process, hoping for surgery in September this year. Maybe I don't know what you are experiencing after your surgery, but I do know what you've left. Remember how awful you felt after eating too much, how sick & miserable it felt to be overweight.. No food is worth eating to loose that. You have that second chance to re-build your life the way you want it. You have the chance right now, today to accomplish what you (and thousands of other women) have wanted for a long time. You also have the power now to get up & walk out of a room if someone is stuffing junk food in their mouth in front of you! Get out of the house, go for a walk, ride a bike.. If you make the adjustment to help yourself, and don't budge from that, others will be inspired and follow you're good example.. Don't follow theirs (it didnt work before). You are beyond that! Make your own trail now! Set some simple goals for yourself, hang them in the kitchen & show your family you've "got this!" I hope this finds you encouraged, well & recovering nicely! Best Wishes! Dawn
