I feel the same way and have the same questions . Two days post op and very afraid to over ea.
It's a real concern of mine! I son't want to stretch my pouch unintentionally. I think I will try measuring food.

You feel hungry? Man i thought hunger subsided with this surgery?
Sent from my Verizon iPhone using RNYTalk
Nope, hunger's there. VSG eliminates the hormone producing hunger apparently (for some) but RNY doesn't!

Thanks! Can't wait to join you on the losers bench. How are you feeling today?
Alright today! Been walking a lot, but still lots of back pain. Each day gets better and better though
-
My back kills too! Hah

My 9 year relationship has been on the rocks lately and I feel this surgery will cause even more tension. It's a lot of changes, new goals, new confidence, priorities change, and it's a big transition.
-
Only VSG surgery removes the hormone that stimulates hunger, from my understanding, not rny.

Surgery is in less than 18 hours (Jan 21 @ 8am)!Lots of ups and downs since I started this long journey in 2008. I joined this group April 2012 when I originally thought I was "approved" but later found out I was actually denied (insurance mix-up). After some hard work and determination' date=' my appeal to the insurance companies (primary/secondary) was approved! If it wasn't for this online support group and MyFitnessPal, along with some very close friends, family, and my partner, I'm not sure how I would have made it so far. Achieving my weight loss goal will be easier than maintaining. That's my longterm focus - staying at or closely around my goal weight. I struggled ever since college - 10 years of undergrad, grad, and doctoral studies came with a sedentary, stressed life with nothing but carbs and fat, and the occasional up-and-down dieting. Patterns learned long ago in childhood and adolescence were reinforced as I continued down a path of self-destruction. That continued through adulthood... Lots of learning has occurred in the past years, but now I'm REALLY learning and DOING... "Knowledge is no guarantee of good behavior, but ignorance is a virtual guarantee of bad behavior" (Martha Nussbaum, 2010). I will need to continue learning, but also recognize that knowledge (while important) needs to coincide with consistent, reflective action.
For me, I believe exercise is going to be key along with therapy and conscious, healthy eating. RNYTALK.COM and MFP are going to be there every step of the way.
I'll post tomorrow morning my pre-surgery weight and some pics from the journey

Good luck to you on your journey! Remember, it's not easy, will be tough at times, but once that weight comes off and you start feeling better, you will be amazed at your inner and outer strength

I'm 5 days out from revision band to bypass surgery. My back and shoulders are still in way more pain than my stomach. I wasn't hungry till I got home' date=' and now everything I see I want to eat. Still in clear liquid hell for one more week. please tell me the hunger and back pain will get better![/quote']
I am in PAIN from my back. Ugh. Must be the gas moving around in there.

I'm not sure my pouch likes very cold crystal light....it pretty much made that known immediately with weird monster, alien-like sounds!
-
I got so scared! I'm a few days post-op. I was sipping very cold crystal light and all of a sudden, it sounded like there was an angry monster in my stomach. It just kept making scary, LOUD noises! I recorded it because I was so weirded out/shocked. Wtf is it?!! Lol
-
So...can someone explain in full detail what it feels like to be full with your new pouch? How do you know? How many bites can you eat? I'm only a few days post-op but already dreaming of solid food stage in a few weeks lol

Has anyone had to have the Lovanox shot? and does it hurt? UGH> I am told it hurts like heck to to get that shot in your belly. Anybody have experience with it?I was getting heparin shots! I told them to STAY AWAY FROM MY STOMACH, and put it in my arm instead hahaha

Why are we only allowed 30ccs if liquid at first every 15 mins? It's not enough sometimes! There has to be a reason. Can't we just fill up a Water bottle and drink throughout the day? Can the pouch stretch if it has too much liquid early on?
-
How much are we to expect to lose in the first 3-4 weeks? I'm so unbearably thirsty. I've been having 30ccs of either propel, Isopure, crystal light, etc. and it's just NEVER enough. I could care less about food, I jusf want to satisfy this insatiable thirst for plain Water. So weird. I always hated water. Lol wtf?!

When he left I ate 2 pizzas and way to much ice cream. When he told me his 23 year old girlfriend (he's 37) was pregnant it was Chinese food and cake. He's getting married tomorrow and it's 2 oz of medifast. I am 9 days post-op and having to learn how to deal with these emotions without food just sucks. I have to say' date=' this is really hard. It even crossed my mind to cheat and eat something but the fear of breaking my new pouch has kept me from it. My doctor doesn't allow his patients to move to soft foods until 2 weeks after surgery so I can't even do some cottage cheese or anything. I also don't have my beautiful daughters to occupy my mind. They're at the wedding. So instead I will do my nails, watch a chick film and go to bed early and just get through this weekend. If any of you have ideas on how to make it through this weekend without pulling my hair out I'd love to hear it.[/quote']Focus on how good you will feel and look very, very soon. Concentrate on you and loving YOU.
