  1. For those of you still pre-op and going through the process of many Dr. appointments or a 6 month supervised diet, what keeps you going knowing insurance COULD deny you? My sister asked me this question, and I'm curious now. This is such a possibility that insurance could say no even after our long jouneys...so what keeps you going and hopeful?

  2. So far, only my family, fiance, and his family know. I will most likely tell my classmates/co-workers as the surgery draws near though. In my opinion, I think it's important to be open about it in order to lessen the stigma associated with weight loss surgery and being overweight in general. The more people are educated, usually the more accepting they become. I don't feel a point in being secretive about it...I feel proud that I'm making my health a priority.

  3. No energy and no REAL food caused me to almost pass out today getting blood drawn ! I had a heavy sense of anxiety and I just felt like I was pouring sweat everywhere ! I am ready to have some full liquids at this point !

And to make it so bad ... SHE DIDN'T FIND NOT ONE VEIN AND BLEW ALL THE ONES SHE DID ! So basically I am grouchy due to hunger and no energy and this just put the icing on the cake !

I no my journey is my own but gosh ... No one said it would be this incredibly hard !

    Ugh ...

That's terrible :( Hang in there though. Just think...it's almost over. My sister is your age and doing her two week liquid diet now and having a hard time. I keep letting her know her NEW life is so close now, it's in sight. It's frustrating, but you are almost there.

  4. I'm so sick of not having any energy. I complained so much about most of the pre-op testing I've had so far....but my Dr. Just found an issue with my thyroid...which is a blessing in disguise. If it wasn't for starting the process of getting this surgery, I probably never would have found out! I'm hoping for more energy once it's treated lol. The pre-op testing is a pain, but I see the importance of it now.

  5. Ok great' date=' thanks its so exciting! They said at the informational meeting on average time from consult to surgery was 2 months! It's crazy to think I could even be thin and healthier let alone not so far off from now![/quote']

Lucky! I have 5 more months left, because insurance required 6 months of weigh ins! Good luck

  6. Consult is basically an opportunity to answer questions and listen to the types of weight loss procedures available. Your height and weight will most likely be taken and your BMI will be calculated. Depending on your insurance, you will find out what they require before surgery and what your actual surgeon requires. It's a stepping stone to a new beginning!

  7. Basically they want to make sure your depression and anxiety symptoms are being treated before surgery either with therapy or medication. Symptoms of depression and anxiety left untreated after surgery can tend to increase in severity since surgery is such a huge transition. As sucky as it is, she/he just wants you completely prepared for surgery. Hang in there :)

  8. Lol the kind that doesn't involve a crash at the end ! Real energy means I can wake up and feel refreshed and not have to pop a NOS lol ... It's bad for me anyways but with being in college ' date=' they come in really handy ! Idk what I'm going to do now lol .[/quote']

I've got NO energy now. I wake up exhausted and it stays that way all day! Not helpful being a grad school student lol. I'm hoping the surgery will boost my energy with all that weight loss after a few months.
