Crystal Light Saved My Life
lovealways replied to libra_lisa's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Funny...vitamins are my favorite part of the day. I am one week post-op and take chewable iron, multi, D, and calcium citrate with D. Crystal light is too sweet for me! I dilute it lol -

3 days post-op: How do I get everything in?
lovealways replied to Catgyrl68's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Are we supposed to be measuring our protein shakes in full liquid stage? My guide says 4-8oz per "meal". -
What are the necessities?

Can I give blood 2 months post-op?
lovealways replied to katiemay0101's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You can, but if there are vitamin and mineral deficiencies, they won't take your blood. Rny surgery patients run a high risk of developing iron deficiency, etc. If you aren't deficient in anything just yet, then go for it! -
What ya eating tonight?

Crystal light...lol...damn post-op liquid diet! -
Xrays should be done before leaving the hospital. That's how my complication (which is common) was found! Hopefully they give you an xray at some point...this surgery is a serious one! I also have my first post-op appt tomorrow. Good luck!

January 2013 Post Op
lovealways replied to ready2smile's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Your body may be in panic mode right now and struggling to hold on to the weight. Naturally, our bodies don't like losing weight! Give it another week! Maybe it's just being stubborn! -
Should protein powder be added to water or milk?

Experiencing extreme cold?
lovealways replied to purpleamy's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
How are your iron levels? I was anemic pre-op due to vitamin deficiency, so I know that feeling! -
I wouldn't do it, nor do I have any desire to drink. I will later on in life maybe some wine at a wedding or special event. If I did, I'd want to wait 6+ months out naturally. There is such a high risk for alcoholism among RNY patients especially; it's astounding. Alcohol is absorbed entirely different now in our bodies.

Don't know what to do
lovealways replied to Kellyk2511's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I would think maybe postpone it, as hard as that's going to be, just so you can be there for your mom in her recovery. I think it would be beneficial, because once she's feeling better, she can be more help to you with the kids and your recovery when it's your time to heal. Good luck! -
I was including my pre-op liquid diet weight loss in that 15 too lol!

3 days post-op: How do I get everything in?
lovealways replied to Catgyrl68's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
We can't stretch our new pouches by sipping constantly, right? Stupid but concerning question lol -
I start my two week liquid diet on New Year's Day. My liquid diet consists of 6 glucerna shakes a day and an endless amount of crystal light and teas and Water. I've had the opportunity to watch my sister do the two week liquid diet over the summer and watched her suffer day in and day out. She did end up losing 15lbs before surgery, but did have 2 minor cheat episodes. She tells me it's hard because you constantly crave something to chew. My goal is to make it through the two weeks with NO slip-ups. I notice on the forum a lot of people end up cheating to some extent. Is there any of you who were successful and DIDN'T slip up during the liquid diet phase? What was your strategy for success? How did you keep busy? What was the hardest thing? My goal is to keep busy with work. I plan on really keeping busy with hobbies and focusing on "me" time. Is it as miserable as my sister is saying? I'm mentally gearing up for it! I am happy to have one last holiday to Celebrate (NYE) before the big day.

3 days post-op: How do I get everything in?
lovealways replied to Catgyrl68's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm post-op, surgery was Jan 15, and I can't have anything but clear liquids still till wednesday when I can introduce shakes. I can imagine how hard it is. I had 3 bites of SF jello which got me full! I can't get in all the liquids no matter how hard I try. I do sip all day and night though. If I could gulp, I could possibly get the 64oz in lol. -
I had my surgery 1/15/13 and am thankfully down 15lbs. I'm still on stupid clear liquids though and will get protein shakes on Wednesday. Congrats on now being on the loser's bench!
