Completely off topic...Ryan, I noticed you're also from NY? Did you also go to college in NY?
-
I don't mean to be "the bad guy" but I see where Ryan is coming from. He started out by giving his opinion and then was ridiculed and made sure to say sorry to those he offended before things got out of hand. Insurance requirements are there to gatekeep. Weight loss surgery should be a last resort. Insurance set the 40 BMI for a reason. They were smart about it, and decided to lower it to 35-39 with two or more deadly co-morbities. They know what they're doing. Should a person be cheating the system in order to get to a 40 BMI? Is that morally right? I don't think so, but it happens. I don't agree with it and I don't think surgeons' or doctors' should be encouraging this. Is anyone wrong in this argument? No. It's an opinion and everyone's entitled to one This surgery should not be regarded as a quick fix nor should someone purposly try to decieve an insurance company willing to pay for a very expensive, intense surgery. In the end though, you do what makes you happy, and this is all that matters!

Good to hear! Has it been a week yet?

Help! Am I Ok?

Also, how's your sodium intake? If you're eating foods high in salt, that can cause water retention as well -

Are you moving your bowels at all? Silly question, but sometimes when things aren't working as efficiently as before surgery, that can cause a little bloat. -

Post Op Wk Sleeve Revised Into Bypass
lovealways replied to dunnfab5's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Can I ask why you are doing a revision from sleeve to bypass? I will be getting the bypass, but my sister just had the sleeve. How did the sleeve fail you? -
If you love writing as much as I do...you can create a blog here! I have, and it helps me greatly on my journey towards RnY in a few months. Welcome! You'll absolutely fall in love with this group! It's addicting though, so just watch out! Lol

I'm pre-op, 27, and plan to have bypass surgery in December/january. My sister just had the vertical sleeve done, just turned 21, and has lost 40 lbs in 4 weeks. She works out like CRAZY so I don't think extra skin will be an issue for her if she keeps that up. I think exercise is key.

Waiting Is Exhausting When You're Already Ready

Very frustrating, but we'll all get there soon enough, I hope -
Oh and it sucks, I know. I have no patience lol.

I wish it were possible to avoid the dreaded 6 month weigh-ins, but I don't think it is. If insurance requires it, there isn't too much of a way around it. In the end, they're paying for the procedure and probably want to try to weed out those select candidates for surgery who aren't patient enough and serious enough to wait the 6 months. Kind of just need to endure it.
-
So exciting yet nervewracking...fingers crossed for you! Good luck! :)

There really is no clear answer to this. My sister was approved after doing 6 months and gaining weight. So far, I haven't been sticking to a diet really (shame on me) but I have made changes like only having soda one day on the weekend, etc. i have gained 2 pounds, but it's ok. Just don't fall below a 40 bmi!

How Many People Have You Told?
lovealways replied to MrsCaluza's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm not mortified I look this way. I have spent since 7th grade dieting and literally have tried everything. I'm not ashamed of this surgery, not one bit...if anything, it makes me feel proud of myself for doing something about it! I told my family, my boyfriend and his family, and two friends. That's about it
