    January Dates

My list of things I can't wait for are: - To be able to fit into rides comfortably - To walk across the stage during graduation in May to receive my master's degree feeling lighter, healthier, and looking better - To be able to fit comfortably in school desks for the remainder of my last semester of school - To be able to exercise - To be able to fit into clothes from non-plus size stores - The list goes on and on Good luck to us all. I'm sure many of us have set New Year's resolutions in the past to lose weight, but this year, we will finally be sucessful!

    Pre-op liquid diets?

My surgeon recommends a 2 week liquid diet in hopes to shrink a fatty liver. I am allowed 6 glucerna shakes a day. I am also allowed crystal light, teas, water, and other no calorie liquids. The day before surgery is strictly clear liquids, no shakes. Usually patients lose anywhere from 15-22lbs in the 2 weeks. I start mine New Years Day!

    Taking Pills.......ugggh

Do the painkillers come in liquid form? Crushed vicodin would taste horrendous with all the tylonol in it =/
  6. I guess it all depends on the person. My sister had VSG weight loss surgery over the summer and she's very selective about who she tells, despite being very successful with her weight loss. As for me, I don't mind telling people. I'm not ashamed. I know I have truly tried everything in my power to lose weight. I've succeeded and failed throughout my life multiple times, and I know I worked my ass off in trying to maintain the weight loss...but it's not easy. I don't mind telling people because there is such a stigma attached to weight loss surgery. There are so many misconceptions and negative perceptions about it. It shouldn't be thought of as something to be ashamed of. I know many people refuse to tell others because they're concerned that it means that they failed. I don't feel I've failed. I feel I'm just continuing to take action into my own hands. Like you, I don't won't announce it at the top of my lungs for all to hear, but my co-workers know, school friends know, and my family and some friends know. Obviously they're going to want to know how I did it with such quick results, and I believe people aren't stupid lol.

    Pre-Op supervised Diet?

I recognize you! You're following me and I'm following you on instagram! Lol! I too have a united healthcare plan and was stuck doing the 6 months. There was no way around it. Insurance companies usually throw in a 6 month diet in order to weed out the ones not serious enough or patient enough to jump through the hoop....they expect many to quit before finishing. The 6 months are a pain in the ass, I won't even lie, but if you keep your mind on the prize, you'll be alright. Some of your pre-op stuff MAY expire. I would check with your surgeon's office!

    Weightloss Surgery and Marijuana

Hmm...Smoking may increase hunger and over time decrease motivation...not a good combination in my opinion after surgery. It may be better to avoid it. This is a lifestyle change! Good luck
