  1. Dr. Kathleen Querry - Marshall, TX 903-938-7200 I have found that Dr. Querry will follow Mexican Bandsters for fills and follow up visits. I think this is great because she is 45 min from Tyler, TX and 30 min. from Shreveport, LA. Also, she is 2 1/2 to 3 hours from the Metroplex. I just thought I would post this because I understand that a lot of people are having to travel a long way for fills. You should call and make sure of the price, but I think it is 100 or 150 per fill. She will do them in the office for this price. I am sure if it is under floro it is more expensive.
  2. I wanted to share this with all of you. Maybe it will help someone.
  3. If you are looking for a fill doctor in the East Texas area, you might try Dr. Querry. She has an office in 3 different cities. Dr. Querry 903-938-7200 - Marshall, Texas 903-856-7437 - Pittsburg & Gilmer Texas She will take patients that have been banded in Mexico. The new patient visit is $196.00 & the fill is $100.00.

    Plastic Surgery Poll

Funny I ran across this thread. I am 1 year and 11 months out and decided, with the help of my surgeon, that it was time I have a tummy tuck and a thigh lift. The tummy is awsome. She removed 5 lbs and 1 lb from each thigh. Now my DH is asking when the breast augmentation will be done. Man, give me time. I am only two weeks out from the tt and thigh lift. I wish everyone luck and encourage you to have the plastic surgery if you need it and you will feel better about yourself. Shannnon
  5. I went in on 1/31/07 and was able to return home on 2/1/07. It has been a little harder than I thought. I am getting around good now and look forward to getting my strength back. My surgeon removed 5 lbs from my tummy and 1 lb from each thigh. So far, it has been great!!! I cannot wait for the next few months to see how I progress.

    Alcohol?

All things in moderation. Just remember if you drink too much you can throw up and that would not be good. Also due to to the calorie's the alcohol always seemed to land on my butt -- be careful....

    Chewing Gum??

I think there is a chance that anyone could swallow their gum. In a bansters situation, I am more careful not to do this. I have been banded almost two years and chew gum every day. Just be careful.

    Odor

Odor -- Well, I can speak for myself, DH, and Mother. We do not have an odor... Hope this helps.
  10. I would suggest that you get all the fluid removed from the band and give your throat and etc a couple of weeks for rest. This usually helps. PLease keep let me know how you are doing.

    Night Cough

I have found that from time to time my band has more and less restriction due to the change in weather. Sounds strange, but it is true. I posted a chart a month or so that shows if you have a night cough you may be too tight. The chart is located under fill information. and is labeled the green zone. If you don't see it there, you can go to the website listed under my signature and see it there. Good luck.
  13. I just thought that I would let anyone who is in the area know that my Dr. has a support group meeting scheduled for Nov 20th in Marshall, TX. If you are interested she has information posted on her website.
  14. Just a word of advice... Pay the extra for an inamed band. In the event you have port issues, you can easily have the port replaced in the US. If not, you will have to return to Mexico or have that band removed and an inamed placed.

    UHC Denial

The following services are not covered: Weight loss programs whether or not they are under medical supervision. Weight loss programs for medical reasons are also excluded. Let me start off with, I am not an expert either. Now, the exclusion listed above is not for lap band. The above exclusion is strictly for a weight loss program that would include, a physician followed diet plan, prescribed diet pill, weight watchers, and others like this. You need to look for an exclusion in your policy under bariatric surgery. It should tell you there if it is a "direct exclusion" or covered if proven to be a medical neccessity. You should appeal this immediatly. Also, you may want to check with the surgeons office, if they listed morbid obesity as the primary diagnosis, there is a good chance it was kicked back. Most insurance companies follow the medicare guideline as far as the approval for a medical neccessary surgery. Medicare at this time states that your primary diagnosis cannot be morbid obesity. It has to be a co-morbidity and then the surgeons office can follow with a morbid obesity diagnosis. The key to this is discussing it with the business office of the surgeon. Alot of the time they can resubmit correctly and you will not need to fight an appeal.
  17. It is my understanding that a lot of people that have been banded outside the US are having problems finding a Dr. to follow them with visits and adjustments. If you live near Marshall, TX Dr. Querry will follow you and do fills for Mexican Bandsters. Someone got this crazy idea that she charged $1,000.00 per fill in the office. This is just not true. It is $100 or $150, not sure. If you are interested in surgery, she has several self pay options if you do not have insurance. Just thought I would post this incase someone was interested in the area.

East Texas and North West Louisiana

I did have my first lapband placed in TJ Mexico and came back to the states and had to be rushed to the hospital 5 days later. It was removed due to massive infection. 3 months later I had it replaced in Marshall, TX. I went to mx because I was trying to save money and in the end spent more and almost lost my life. If you decide to go to mexico, please do your research!!! If you think you want to stay in the states, I know that Capitalone will finance the band. Good luck on your investigation.

    SEVERE Port-Site Pain

It seems to me that a port infection or possible infection are nothing to play with. Please see your Dr. ASAP. This may head off a lot of trouble in the future. Good Luck

    Help!

Please remember sometimes it is better to spend a little more on the surgery, have it in the states, and have the same Dr. do the fills that did the surgery. This way you know you will have aftercare lined up. I do understand that sometimes going out of the US is the only way to get the band, for some. If this is the case, I know my Dr. will accept Mexican bandsters and do their follow up care and adjustments. Good Luck!

    Please help me!

Larry, try to think positive. Most things can be done with a positive attitude. Once you make up your mind as to the route you want to take to "grow" a smaller "you" then set a short term goal achieve it and continue on. It works!! Good Luck, you CAN do it!

    Band Removed Yesterday

Your story is certainly one that hits home. I was banded in Dec 04 and it had to removed due to improper placement later that month. I was lucky and able to be rebanded in March of 05. During the short time without my band, well, it was an emotional roller coaster. I thougts and prayers are with you!

    How dare she!!!

I guess people that have never been challenged with a weight problem, just do not understand. I wish every time someone decided to interfer with your business, and tell you that they do not carry your size, they would be forced to feel the way they just made you feel. Boy, this would change the way people jumped to conclusions!!
