Just wanting to check in with my fellow bandsters! I'm so excited to see that everyone is doing so well!!!! I had surgery on Aug 24, 2007 and here are my stats: Start weight: 298 Current Weight: 147 Total Lbs Lost: 151lbs Start pants/dress size: 22 Current Pants/dress size: 4/5 Hope everyone keeps up the good work and I will try to stay in touch more often!!!:thumbup: Tarayn

Whosyadaddy, you are such an inspiration!! I was banded on 08/24/07 and I am down a total of 109.4lbs. Start weight 298.2, size 22 Current weight 188.8, size 8 or 10 (depending on the brand of jeans) I am so glad to see that everyone is doing so well! princesst

It has been 5 months an 3days since my lapband surgery and I have lost a total of 93.2lbs!! I weighed 298.2lbs back in Aug 2007 and now weigh 205lbs. I started out in a size 22 and can now wear a size 10 or 12 depending on the make of the jean/pants. I feel truely blessed to have been able to have this surgery. Im so glad to see that everyone else is also doing so wonderful. Princesst:biggrin:

It is so wonderful to hear that eveyone is doing so well!!! I was banded on Aug 24th. I weighed 298.2lbs and was wearing a size 22 pants. I current weigh 217.0lbs and am in a size 10-12 pants for a total of 81.2 lbs lost in 3.5 months!! I truely feel blessed to have my band! I just started my exercise routine yesterday so hopefully the rest will just melt off as well! Princesst:)

Hello! I started out weighing 298.2lbs and I am currently 223.0lbs (75.2lbs as of today). I am 27 years old and 5'4". I have maybe worked out once or twice a week during these past 3 months, but have now committed my self to working out about 4-5 days a week. I think most of my success is contributed to the fact that I watch my carbs-I don't eat any bread, Pasta, or rice. I also measure all of my food before I eat it. It takes me 20-30 minutes to eat my 3oz meal. It is so inspiring to see everyone do so well!! Princesst

Hello all!! I am 27 years old and live in Lake Charles, LA. I was banded on Aug 24, 2007 and have lost a total of 70.6lbs as of today. I was just curious as to how many people out there have lost 100lbs in only 6 months? 100lbs in six months is my goal to reach by Feb 24th. My doctor looked at me a little skeptical when I told him what I wanted to achieve because I chose to have lapband surgery instead of having gastric bypass! Give me a shout! I started out at 298.2lbs and am now 227.0lbs! My secret is that I cut my carbs-I don't eat any bread, pasta, or rice. I also measure my food-It takes me 20-30 min to eat 3 ounces. I have only had one fill of 1.2. I also watch my sodium intake. I eat (3) 3 ounce meals a day and normally have 2 snacks a day which consist of 1/4 cup of cashews or peanuts or a stick of sharp cheddar chez or string chez. Princesst

Congrats on your success thus far-you are doing GREAT! The greatest advice that I can give is to maintain a positive attitude and tell yourself that nothing tastes as good as being thin and healthy will feel. I have lost 70.6 lbs in 11 weeks by following my doc's post op diet to the T. I stay away from starchy carbs such as rice, Pasta, and bread. I try to keep my Protein levels high by eating plenty of meat, chez, milk, and nuts and I cook everything in olive oil. I also watch my sodium intake. I try to work out about 3 times a week and I will gradually increase my excercise once my body starts to plateau so that it doesn't get used to me exercising all the time. Keep your chin up! I had surgery on Aug 24, 2007 and weighed 298.2lbs. I am 27 years old and am 5'4"-my BMI was 51.2. It has now been 11 weeks since surgery and I have lost a total of 70.6 lbs-currently have a bmi of 39.1 and weight 227.6 lbs. If someone would have told me 11 weeks ago that I would already be this far along I wouldn't have believed them. My band has saved my life and has given me more self confidence. I will forever be grateful for having the most wonderful doctor in the world-Dr. Keith Chung in Lake Charles, LA. Princesst:)

This Thanksgiving holiday we will all have one more thing to be grateful for this year-our lapbands and the successes that we have endured thus far!! I am also grateful for the support that I find on this website!! It is so wonderful to be able to relate to people who are experiencing the same things that I am!! I called today and made my appointment for my second fill which is scheduled for Nov 19th (I purposely made it on the same week as Thanksgiving so that I would have better restriction if you know what I mean)! I was banded on Aug 24th and have lost a total of 61 lbs thus far! I love my band!:whoo::whoo::whoo: Princesst

Hello Everyone!!! Congrats to all on their weightloss successes!! I was banded on 08/24/07 and have lost a total of 57.2 lbs!! I tried on a pair of 14 pants today and am excited to say that they actually fit (I was a size 22).:whoo::whoo::whoo:I still have pretty good restriction after my first fill of 1.2 on 10/08/07. I probably won't get another fill until the week before Thanksgiving so that I know I will have a little more restriction!! Happy Halloween!!! Princesst

I was banded on Aug 24th and have lost a total of 42lbs!!! I lost 17lobs during the two weeks pre-op diet and 25lbs since being banded!!! I don't get my first fill until Oct 8th, so I am hoping to lose another 8lbs before then!!! I LOVE MY BAND!!! I have the greatest doc in the world--DR. KEITH CHUNG, LAKE CHARLES, LA. Hang in there it gets much better. I was banded on Aug 24th and have lost a total of 42 lbs since then. I just started eating chicken and tuna last Friday. The key during the mushie stage is to find something that you like and be creative. I loved taking meatless spagetti sauce and adding riocotto cheese to it. Another thing I enjoyed was steaming some brocolli and cauliflower throwing it in my magic bullet (which is the best thing ever) and adding a little Cambell's chedder chez soup to it! The one thing that I try to tell myself is that nothing tastes as good as being thin will feel!!! Have a great day! Princesst

Thanks for the encouragement. I just try to take at least 20 minutes to eat 3 ounces. And do not drink 30 minutes before or after my meal.

:confused:How much can everyone eat until they are full??? I feel full after eating 3 ounces of mushy food. I was banded on Aug 24th and have lost a total of 38 lbs.:whoo::whoo::whoo:

I absolutely love it!! I am soooo happy to find someone with the same surgery date as myself!!! I go to the doc on next monday to weigh-in and for him to check my incisions. I too have started walking a mile everyday. Please keep in touch and let me know how you are doing!!!

I lost 17lbs during preop which began on Aug 8th and 11.2lbs since my surgery a week ago. I can't wait until I can full liquids........only 7 more days to go! I will finally be banded by Dr. Chung in Lake Charles, LA tomorrow, Aug 24th!!!!:whoo::whoo::whoo:I have managed to loose 17lbs since Aug 8th during my pre-op stage. This forum has been so great to obtain the much needed info to get myself physically and emotionally prepared for this surgery. Vallin, Congrats on your weight loss!!!! I myself will be banded this Friday, Aug 24th so I am pretty pumped!! How much did you lose during preop and how much have you lost since you have been banded? What are Protein bullets and where did you buy them? Princesst

I AM SOOOOOOOOOOOOO PISSED!!!!. I went to Dr. Spiegel's office on July 7th for my consultation and to submitt my paperwork with United Healthcare. I chose to go to him because he has performed over 6000 surgeries, despite some of the rumors that I have heard about him and his office. After going to the seminar, I was impressed with him and felt good about my decision to go there. I called a week later to see if they were needing any additional information from me such as previous doctors records and to see if they had heard anything, and I was told by my RUDE case worker Lulu that and I quote "I don't know the status of your case for I just submitted the information on July 12th and do not have time to stay on the phone and call the insurance companies for every patient that we have. But feel free to call UHC everyday if you would like!!!" I wanted in my heart to believe that she was just having a bad day............boy was I wrong! I decided to call my insurance co a week later on July 18th to check the status and was happy to find out that I HAD BEEN APPROVED!!! So I called Lulu to tell her so we could set up a surgery date and was told that they had to have a copy of the approval letter BEFORE they would schedule the appt.I was fine with that. So I waited and checked the mail every day and finally it came in on July 25th. I emailed the approval letter to her on July 26th and she forwarded it to Pam at their Houston office to schedule the surgery. Pam finally called me back at 1:00pm that day to schedule the appt. Great right??? WRONG!! It was then that I had learned that my information that had been sent to UHC to be approved had requested that the surgery be done at University General Hospital (a new hospital in Houston which Spiegel had raved about during his seminar) which was OUT OF NETWORK for me!!! They never asked me where I wanted the surgery to be done!!! I assumed that they would set it up with 12 Oaks which is the only In Network Hospital that he goes to!!! I was told to redo it so I could go to 12 Oaks that all of my paperwork would have to be resubmitted to UHC and could not tell me how long it would take!!! I AM SOOOO MAD!!! I call UHC to verify this and Pam was correct!!! I have left multiple voice mails for Pam to call me because I have questions and I have yet to hear from her. So I have decided that I am going to make me an appt with another doctor closer to home being that I live in Lake Charles. I just wanted to let anyone considering Spiegel to know what they would be getting themselves into before they wasted their time!!!If this is the way they are treating me know, how would they react if something were really wrong with me after I had the surgery. That is the question I asked myself and I figure that if I am going to have to wait for another approval that I will go to someone else. Sorry so long just needed to vent!!!
