Quinoa is a great substitute. Can be used as side, as Protein or as desert.
I'm not post op so can't say how it would work.

I am so sorry. Know exactly what you've been going through. Been there, even the park. Asthma not bad at all but no stamina. High BP. On edge of diabetes.
Am trying to get myself through all the clearances within a year and can't seem to get there. Keep having to go back to this one or that because expired. LOL
We will do what we need to, for us.

I'm still pre-op but I can understand, a bit, what you're talking about. When I first started down this road...3 years ago...I had no idea of the emotional spirals I would be going through. And this is before it all! I don't think this is taken into consideration, by the medical professionals we count on. From what I've seen here and other forums, this is happening to too many. We just aren't being prepared. It's not like an apendectomy or knee replacement and it's being treated as such. Maybe it's the psych's fault, who knows. But it should be looked at much differently. If you're having difficulty in your new life choices, please don't just let it go. Talk to someone. Get a dialog going, at least, with someone who will listen and try to help you work through it.
All the best to you, and us all!

Sure it's not kidney? Not post op but a though...

WOW! That was an eye-opener. A number of things I hadn't concidered there. Other things I thought of or worried about and knowing they're a possibility helps. Thanks, will be using this as another reference tool.

I am pre op my surgery is scheduled for 10/3 ...... And u?Don't have a date yet. Its been a long road. Just had a cancer scar but itms pre cancer so should be ok for this. Need some clearances that expired again. Am hopng for Jan sometime...
-
Hello Staten Island! Are you pre or after surgery? I'm pre and not sure when. Other stuff cropped up, medically, totally apart from all this I have to deal with.
-
You're going to have to see what the Dr says now...
If he has reservations, speak to him, calmly and just stating your reasons it's needed. It can be nerve wracking dealing with all the clearances. If he doesn't listen, you may need to either go back to therapist or another Bariatric clinic and start again. Best of luck to you and really hope this works out!!!!

Haven't gotten to 'last meal' thoughts yet. But my 'lasts', yeah. But looking at it in a celebration way. Not a 'death row' last. Going to a fondue restaurant next week since I've never been to one. That's a 'last' too.
I've had a Blizzard in CA when visiting my daughter. Been there, done that one. Lol

Have you been checking your measurements? if your exercising, maybe gaining muscle? I'm not post op, so only thoughts. Sorry. It will work out though. Hang in there.

I was having this discussion with Dr and then dietician (She played devils advocate). This after my own studies on them. I am sticking with RNY. It's best for me, partly for the strictness withknowing myself, it's best.
You can only make that decision for you. I also looked at the # of patients having RNY done after other surgeries didn't 'do it' for them..

LOL Sounds good. I have plans to go to the original Peter Luger's for the best steak in the world! Not my last meal before but it's gonna be most memorable dinner. You enjoy! That's all that matters. And realize it's all a beginning!

That's awesome! You go Girl!!!!!!

Welcome, found a great place. For all parts of your new life. Amazing group of helpful peoples!

Have you been checking your measurements? It must be difficult to see the numbers stop early but know that as long as you do everything right, it will happen. Since I'm pre, I can't pull from my experience in this but do know, as I got older, weight didn't come off as quickly. Plateaus hit earlier for me.
I'm sorry your dealing with this so soon. But hang in. I know it will begin melting soon!

Hi Jeff, I'm pre op, all done but have something medical that popped up that needs to be taken care of first. Fingers crossed it will be done quick and back to this soon. Welcome to a great bunch of peoples!

WOW! Hi NancyW. First welcome, so glad you found 'here' and I have enjoyed, lack of better word, reading your journey. Your pics? Give me such hope! Have had hurdles to deal with during pre surg. Haven't gotten to the gate yet!

Oh, you'll go nuts if you go around comparing you to someone else. Everyone's structure is different. Bones weigh different, muscles add weight. No one ever beileved my weight because I was always heavier than I looked. (And believe me they were NOT being nice to me!) You have to go by what's right for you. Don't make it more difficult on yourself.

That's fantastic!!!! All the best!

Haven't had surg yet but have heard of using child sippy cups. I suppose that is to regulate how much you get in one sip?
-
Oh you are loking great! 25 is a fantastic loss and losing like that is better for elasticity of skin!

I do hope your county has Women's Services in the Executive offices. They can be a big help. Do look into it even if you aren't doing anything now. Just to have the info for when needed.

Well, you have lots to think about now. It's up to you how and when after you look into whatever can help you and your children to get out and grow after this. You will be fine. Don't do what I did and hang in for 31 years until he left. Get your life started as soon as you can.
Much strength being sent to you!
