    Hair Loss :/

Hi All ~ All week this week I have been losing more hair than usual. I had read it generally happens at four months (where I am). I feel somewhat ridiculous for being so upset, but I have always had great hair. When will it get better?

30 Days Post Op Not Feeling Well

I ask because a friend I met during this process who also had RNY (a few months after me) had the same issue. To the hospital with dehydration 4 times, anything she ate or drank she threw up. For her, the problem was a large hernia in her esophagus. It happens in 4-6% of RNY cases. They had to do the endoscopy/edg to see it -

Did you have an endoscopy yet or just imaging?

30 Days Post Op Not Feeling Well

Early on I had a lot of nausea and some vomiting. I learned (a suggestion from this site) that I was nauseous when my pouch was empty. I didn't feel true hunger, but if I had a little something (I.e. Carnation Instant B'fast - sf) it helped quash the nausea. It seems counterintuitive - to eat/drink when you're nauseous, but it worked. Good luck!

    Acne After Gastric Bypass?

I had the same problem. It gets better - I do have to strictly stick with my skin care regimen now though. It will get better ~

    Ulcers

Anybody developed an ulcer? I generally have a lot of nausea (surgery 5/30/12) and some burning in my pouch at night - when I lay down. I know these are classic signs of an ulcer. Seeing the doc on Tuesday, but wondered what you (anyone) experienced, what the course of treatment was, etc.?

Need Some Answers Headed To Er.

Whey protein also made me sick. I ordered chicken broth from Unjury and each time I are it, I ran to the bathroom quickly thereafter. Fluids are more important than anything else in the beginning. I'm sure it's little comfort, but it does get better.

    Ulcers

I have no idea how it happened; I've followed all the rules. As I understand it, ulcers happen in a small percentage of RNY patients as a matter of course. I met a woman who had an ulcer and they placed a PIC line in for fluid & vitamin replenishment and have her off all food by mouth for six weeks. Ugh.

    Foamies

It occurs when your pouch is empty, but you throw up anyway. The only thing to come up is foam - sometimes foam follows your having thrown up the offensive food. Despite the emptiness, you can throw up over and over again. It's painful at times, but miserable always. Gas-x is the trick - hope you never experience them.

    Foamies

A trick I learned, from this site actually, is to chew a gas-x tablet and it ends the foamies. I didn't learn it in time to stop the 22 hour episode of the foamies I had as a result of trying a scrambled egg though! Good luck & feel better!

    Tmi But Need Help

I just started Colace too. Doc recommended it - 100 mg tabs taken at bedtime. The bottle says you can go up to six tabs a day, start with one and build from there if necessary.

    How Long To Digest?

Hi Everyone ~ I was wondering how long it takes you, on average, to digest things? I feel like my stomach stays (physically) full for hours & hours. Is this normal? Thank you!

Surgery was May 30, 2012. I feel like it takes a long time to digest most things. :/

It's wanted to let everyone know that vitacost.com (a great, inexpensive site for Vitamins, etc) is having a big BOGO sale.
  16. Anybody have any tips for retraining the brain? I've found myself falling back to my "old" way of thinking this week. It's upsetting to find yourself there ~ any tips that worked for you would be much appreciated!

    Water Pills

Thanks Jen ~ I have noticed that since being post op (and therefor drinking lots more water) the foot doesn't get nearly as bad as it was. I was thinking my lymph system was busy sending fluid elsewhere to help me heal as well. It's nice to finally have the foot under control. My little ones literally call it my 'Fred Flintstone foot'! Not so Flintstone post op.

    How Im Feeling

Congrats! It gets better! Have you tried chewable vitamins? Still tough, but I found them easier than swallowing a whole pill.

    Water Pills

My doctor took me off my water pill 6 weeks pre-surgery and won't let me take them now. He said they can make you dehydrated and you're already fighting to stay hydrated & nourished. I took hydrochlorothiazide for lymphedema in my right foot (got a staph infection four years ago from a pedicure).

    Vitamins

Just wanted to let everyone know of a cheaper place to get Vitamins & supplements. My Doc told me about vitacost (Vitacost.com) and I ordered all of my vitamins for a smidge over $56 with free shipping. Hope this helps someone.

    Protein/food/enough Calories

Unjury Chicken broth was a lifesaver for me. 8 ounces of soup = 21g of protein. You have to order it at unjury.com. Good luck!
