I slime too!! I just had my 2nd fill and I will tell you that I can barely eat anything, Oh my gosh apple sauce would barely go down, but in the evening I ate mashed potatoes good. Weird huh, also if I stand up and eat it helps the food go down. But I slime alot and I get frustrated sometimes, because I just want to eat.. and then I tell myself this is exactly what you want, you don't want to be able to eat whatever and how much you want. Oh well bitter sweet band!!!

I am wondering if anyone had Dr. Robert Marvin do your surgery, if so please let me know what you think of him and his staff. Thanks

Pregnant and Banded...come join me!

Buy an over the counter enema. They are very cheap and they work great, try that before you go to the hospital... -
Never heard this!!!???
agonzalesjoy replied to Imonmyway7368's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
There is nothing to even be worried about, you will be knocked out and not know what they will be doing to you.. It really is not a big deal, that is the least of your worries. It is the pain after words that is what hurts, not anything going on during your surgery, that is the fun part, you get to be drugged up and feel nothing. Well good luck!! -
I know it is annoying!! So tell me how have you managed to lose so much weight already!! I have lost 12 LBS so far, but I have not been to the doctors in over 2 weeks, so I am hoping it will be more. Do you mind if I ask you what you have been eating and how much!

One week after my surgery! ON my post op visit. She did it fairly easy!, But you need to make sure you un loop it with tweezers or something. then pull it out.
-
No It didn't hurt at all. But it has a loop, so they really need to pull it out, that way you won't tear it open. When I had mine, I was scared for her to pull it out, and she is the one who noticed it and said she wanted to take it out, and I told her NO IT CAN STAY!!! I was being a big baby. But no it really didn't hurt maybe a little pinch.
-
I had the exact same thing, when I went to my one week follow up appointment, my doctor got something that looked like tweezers and just pulled it out. But I would let your doctor pull it out. But it really is not a big deal, just annoying. my Doctor did tell me that she was trying to figure out a different way to put the stitches, so that doesn't happen. I only had one thank God, cause that would drive me Freakin nuts too. Good luck!

August Bandsters How are you Doing So Far
agonzalesjoy replied to MissNilsa's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hi there, I am 3 weeks out from my surgery, which was August 16. I did Clear liquids for 1 week and after a couple of days I felt hungry more, then I was so happy to move to mushies, I did eggs for my first meal, oh my gosh talk about feeling the food right in the throat region, but as time has progressed I have been able to eat more, I start out eating very slow, and then if I am tolerating what I am eating I will eat more until I feel content, I try not to feel stuffed before stopping, but since I have no restriction, I get hungry more frequently, so I will have to incorporate snacks in between meals. I find that Low fat granola bars help alot, or yogurt with granola in it. Today is my first day on regular foods, I had tuna with fat free miracle whip and eggs and a few crackers, and it went down ok, but I had to keep stopping in between eating, because I was feeling the food in my throat, so I waited a few minutes and could eat some more. I can't wait until the 18th, because I will get my first fill. I hope it gives me good restriction, so I wont feel hungry so frequently. I definetly think that everyone getting the band should really stick to clear liquids for as long as the are supposed to, I know you will be starving, but it really helps you feel good, when you know you haven't cheated, and also a TIP:: SUGAR FREE HArd candies saved my life. When feeling hungry or deprived I would suck on a candy, or I would get the NIPS Sugar free coffee or caramel flavored hard candy, they are some what chewy, but it really satisfies. It will help you to appreciate each stage that you have to go through in this journey if you DO NOT CHEAT!!! You have to remember why you got this band in the first place. Make sure to keep healthy food in your house, because if you don't, you will be so hungry that you will just grab anything available, I have a lot of people living in my house right now and there is alot of bad food in my pantry and refrigerator, but I make sure that I have sugar free pudding ready and availabe to eat, low fat yogurt, cottage cheese, etc. It encourages me to eat those foods instead. Well I guess I will shut up now, but I just wanted to share a little bit of my experiences. Have a great day -
I had my surgery on 8/16/07, and lost 12 LBS one week after surgery, but I know it was the all liquid diet. It has been 2 weeks since my surgery and I am on the mushy stage. I have been getting more hungry lately, I eat cream of Wheat and I am hungry and hour later. I can't wait until I get to eat more solid food, because I will hopefully stay fuller longer. I will get my first fill in two weeks. hopefully that will help me out. I have not stepped on a scale since last week, but I am afraid to, because I feel I might have gained weight, since I have been eating mushies. Well we will see. I do know that eggs are not as easy to eat as I would like them to be, I thought they would be soft enough, but NOT. I also tried to eat those handi snacks the peanut butter one, OMG it got stuck right in my throat area, I know I wasn't supposed to eat that yet, but I was experimenting....OOPS. Well I will weigh my self soon and give an update.

Banding.....August 2007! Who else?
agonzalesjoy replied to JudiM's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I had my surgery on August 16, 2007, I am doing well on my fourth day out, I really wish I could eat some Malt-o-Meal or something, but I have to wait till Thursday until I can eat some. Oh well Popsicles for me!! I am curious about band sizes though? What is the difference between small medium and Large? My doctor gave me a small. Thanks for your answers if any -
I am having trouble quiting smoking, but I let the doctor know that I have been smoking a little bit, and she told me that it was important to quit for post op. I am wondering if anyone smoked the day or days before their surgery? I know it's bad for me, but I think I have to give up one thing at a time. HELP!!

HI I am sorry to hear that you are feeling crappy. I think that you shouldn't beat yourself up, but I do no that you have to take this and use it for a positive change. Just saying no is something so easy to do, yet it is one of the hardest things for us. Maybe you should try this (including myself) when we are trying to raid the cabinets or feel like putting something bad in our mouths, just stop---And say NOOOO!!! Please God help me!!! Then just walk away and immediatley do something else. Probably go exercize would be the best thing walk or jog, or what ever it is that you like to do. I know that i feel better about myself and I feel like I won the battle (even though it will be a daily battle.) I think if we do this long enough we will become used to it and it will get easier and easier to say no. It is like a drug addict or a smoker, food addiction is the same exact thing. Well I hope this helps!!

Hi there everyone, I just wanted to start my journal and to keep everyone and myself updated on my surgery progress. Well today I went and spoke with Dr. Worman, and she said my blood work all came back great, and she also said that I don't need to go through their extensive tests like running on a treadmill and stuff like that. The only thing that she did say was that my H-PLORI test came back positive. I have baceteria in my stomach and I guess something with my acid reflux. But I am on a 10 day treatment to clear that up. My nurse told me that It will not affect my surgery date though. She said if I was having the gastric bypass, then that would be a different story. Well everything is set and all I have to do now is wait for insurance approval. So I will keep everyone updated.

Hunger after band??
agonzalesjoy replied to madfroglady's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was told that if you are drinking liquids and soups, that it is just going right through your band and that you are not going to feel satisfied. I was told that you are to eat solid food, of course chew it up very good and do not drink for an hour after you eat. This will cause you to feel fuller longer. Try this and see what happens. Good luck.
