Anyone Have Issues Peeing Pos For Pregnancy?
veronicav75 posted a topic in Pregnancy with Weight Loss Surgery
Ok so here is my issue... I my past pregnancies I tested positive at 8 wks, didn't have symptoms up until that point. I had RNY 5 1/2 years ago, my youngest is 15 1/2 years old and I am 1 week late. I took a urine HCG test and tested negative twice now. Has anyone else had issues with testing positive when actually pregnant? Or does anyone know of anyone that had RNY that had that issue. I have had every symptom of early pregnancy to accompany the negative tests. I can't find anything online regarding post WLS and HCG testing have efects on each other. Everywhere I look it says HCG isn't affected by the surgery, although we all know that WLS play with our hormones and HCG is a hormone our body produces. Any Ideas? -
I'm back to training for a 5k, a Half marathon and thinking of braving my 2nd full marathon. In between my running I do the "Insanity" program. It's an awesome program and you get toned fast. What gets to me is, I can feel all the muscle tone and the 6pack on my abs BUT thank you loose skin-you hide my success all too well! One day my evil friend I will have u removed for life! Anyone else training for any distance marathons?

Lucky! I gained 60# in 3 months on it and took 2 yrs to take 10 of it off. At that time in my life I was not overweight, and had been on Jenny Craig. So it wasn't my food choices. Life for me after depo was fighting the losing battle of obesity until RNY years later.

Don't worry about the stall outs. It's your body's way of catching up with itself. Once it catches up, the weight melts off again. Just keep on your lifestyle change and to the regimen we are following for a lifetime. As my dad says: you risked your first life for a chance at a second one...don't do anything to jeopardize that.

Detox - oh how the mighty have fallen
veronicav75 replied to Lebim's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thanks for the honesty. I am 5 years post op and the one thing I can attest for is....by 18months post op your body will be able to tolerate more foods. Consider 18mos as a hit zone to really make sure you stay focused. I won't lie, I allow myself the no no foods from time to time. I have measured out 2 snack sized snickers as my sugar junk limit. If 2 don't make me feel the negative reinforcers, then I detox by going back to basics. After 2 wks my body can't handle sugar n junk food with ease as before. I have also found signing up for 5k, 10k, 1/2 marathons and full marathons helps keep me accountable for my exercise regimen and keeps me on track. It keeps me focused on a goal. Hope this info helps. -
Keep up the great work!!!! Every little bit is a foundation to build upon. Congrats!!!

I use fitness pal as well and am also 5 yrs post op. I use the tool to keep track of cal, carbs, fat and prot. I have also been an avid runner for 4 years. I run 3 miles 3 days a week and one day a week I do long runs that entail 5 miles or more of running. I VERY rarely add the cals burned that fitness pal says I need I consume. We had this surgery for a reason and to go back to old habits isn't one of them. I sustain plenty of energy with the 1000-1200 cals I consume daily. Now you do have to learn to LISTEN to your body! If I do a super long run and end up with a headache, then I know I am needing to replace some calories, what I do then is have a Protein shake and that does the trick. Also keep up on your vitamins...very important. Hope that helps.

I had my Roux en Y on March 10, 2008. My starting weight was 260# and have maintained 148-150# since Nov 2008. I have done many exhilarating activities since the weight loss. Since. August 2010 I have taken up running. On March 6, 2011 I completed a full Marathon (26.2 miles), and since then i have completed a half Marathon, a 10k and 2 Half Marathons. Now I have taken on a new challenge for Sept 2013...Tahoe Tough Mudders

You should call your doctor. Dark tarry stools can indicate bleeding in the intestinal track. It could be nothing but better to be safe. -
