Bipolar And Needing Surgery
bekki03 replied to kimpossible67's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Congrats on making the decision to become a healthier you. I don't want to play devils advocate but it is best for your surgeon to know all medications that you are on so there are no adverse reactions when they give you anastesia. And the meds that they have you on (I don't know what they are) would alert the surgeon to your being bipolar. Be honest. Its shouldn't keep you from surgery if you are truly in a right head space for it. Good luck! -
That is awesome! I started dating my bf almost a year ago and weighed 15 lbs more than him. I started dieting pre-surgery, he started dieting and exercising and started losing weight super quick (men suck like that, lol) and I finally have lost more than him. I haven't ever told him my weight and I won't until I get below 300 lbs.

Feeling Left Behind
bekki03 replied to thenewme2012's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am 3 weeks out today. I think I may be the exception when it comes to food because I am able to keep most things down. Try to keep your chin up. My nutrionist said keep everything you put in your body below 10g of fat and 10g of sugar. No fried foods, stay away from white carbs, stuff like that. I haven't attempted any breads except for Missions low carb tortilla to make a pizza they have on this website. I am able to sleep on my stomach again. It took about 2 weeks to be able to do that, and I am a little sore when I wake up. You won't feel hungry for a while. Don't eat until you feel full because then you eating too much. Just eat until you feel satisfied. And great job with the walking! -

Had Gastric Bypass 6/28/12

It does depend on what your starting weight was. I started out VERY overweight (I hate the term morbidly obese)...I am 3 weeks out and have lost about 27 lbs since the morning of surgery. Usually (not always) the heavier you are the more you lose. Don't get down on yourself. -
Its going to be wonderful! Good luck!

Labor Day Weekend Indulgences!
bekki03 replied to babygirl901's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I honesty would have to look at My Fitness Pal to remember what I ate...but I know nothing was that bad. I had about 2 oz of cheeseburger, no bun. unsweetened tea wth splenda, and about 5 oz of watermelon. OMG! I was so scared. Tried a bite, waited 5 minutes and continued to enjoy. I am 3 weeks out and haven't had any dumping from what I have eaten. Only had issues with chicken twice (I was stupid for not chewing well enough and swallowing too big a bite) I do get worried that I am having too easy of a time of it, but I am not going outside of what my nutrionist says is allowed out of fear. Had my 3 week appointment and was told I am doing great. I am keeping my calories between 500 and 700 and just started going to the gym instead of mall walking. But I wanted the fried chicken. I live in NC and the food in my area is delicious and terrible for you. I would potentially kill for an Arby's Beef n' Cheedar, lol. -
That is amazing!!! Congrats Don. I am anxiously waiting for tomorrow so I can do my weekly weigh in. What are you doing for exercise?

How Many People Have You Told?
bekki03 replied to MrsCaluza's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I may be different from a lot of people. But I told all my coworkers who I am friendly with. Aside from my boyfriend and his parents I have no one from my immediate family within 900 miles. I know I am responsible for my own journey and weight loss, but I told them to smack me if I am doing something wrong. Granted, being incrediably afraid of dumping syndrom I have been perfect so far. But my friend at work (cwissenb on here) had her surgery 2 weeks prior to mine. She didn't tell anyone because she was ashamed of becoming overweight. She is a beautiful woman, but she got heavy after having kids and wasn't happy with herself. Where I have been overweight since I was child. Its different for everyone hon. -
I'm so glad it went well for you hon. Get up as often as you can and walk the halls. Getting the gas out is the most important thing with pain. Hugs!
-
I will be three weeks in 9 days. Largest incision is my only complaint. It is the only reason I have to randomly take my pain meds. It will get better sweetie.

So they only temptation I have had so far is my aunt makes homemade popcorn with pepper flakes and garlic....how long until we can have popcorn or can we ever have it again?

1 Week After Surgery And I Stepped On The Scale...
bekki03 posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I weighed myself the day I got home, but that was dumb because I had gained 11lbs from all of the saline they pumped into me. So going off my day of surgery weight (375 lbs) I lost 7 lbs. I now weigh 368! My first appointment with the surgeon in May I weighed 415 lbs. 47 lbs that I never want to see again!!!! Whoop whoop! What were peoples average weekly weight loss after their surgery? -
What are you mixing your shake with?
-
That is awesome hon! Congrats
-
Congrats! I didn't know you in school but you look great now.
-
Surgery went well. I'm incredibly sore, but I did my walking and it's not actually gas pain. It's mostly this one incision that is causing the pain. When did peoples incisions stop hurting so badly?
-
Yeah I was told no driving while on pain meds. I am not taking them as frequently now. Maybe once a day if needed and to help me sleep at night. You've had 3 kids. I'm assuming the pain from birthing children makes this seem like nothing, lol
