I haven't had my surgery yet (Aug 15th!!!!) But from what I heard the severe drop in calories is what is so exhausting. Make sure you are drinking your Protein shakes. They will be your best friend. Good luck!!!

2 1/2 Week Post Op Appointment Today:)
bekki03 replied to normz956's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
That is awesome! How much walking are you doing? I have my surgery 2 weeks from today. -
I was doing my fitness pal prior to the 3 week diet. I got sick of it yelling at me for being under 1200 calories. I'm a validation person. If I am doing what I am supposed to I don't want to be criticized. So maybe when they add a gastric bypass option I will rejoin. But prior I did love it.

And I thought mine was bad! Pure liquids for 5 days after surgery (aside from Protein shakes) pureed food until nutritionist visit (3 to 4 weeks)

Psychological Evaluation?
bekki03 replied to CamyMarie12's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was told I didn't have a choice if I wanted to use that surgical team. The nutritionist, surgeons and therapist all work together. It does make it easier that they all talk and work together. This process had been pretty seamless. -
Psychological Evaluation?
bekki03 replied to CamyMarie12's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My work has 2 insurences. The mental health insurence is United Behavorial Health. My surgeon works with a specific therapist who for the 2 hours cost $550.00. He was not in network. That involved the test and talking with him for an hour. He didn't charge me seperately for the write up...but it has to be said. All I could think the entire time was how this wasn't worth the money. But in the long run it will be. -
Pre Op Diet Question..
bekki03 replied to Miss Crystal's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It is hard, I have been pretty successful with the plan my nutritionist puts all the patients on. Everything you eat should be in the single digits for fat and sugar. I stopped drinking soda and sweet tea. Good luck! -
My surgery is August 15. I am super excited but nervous.

You Know You Could Die Right?
bekki03 replied to landensmommy10's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
With my surgery team we have to see a bariatric therapist. When he asked me of I knew of the complications. I told him that I knew that you can die from the surgery, but I am going to die without it. I was deemed ok to have surgery. -
Is Having Rny Like Starving Yourself?
bekki03 replied to Mutti's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
She obviously doesn't have a lot of experience with RNY. I have been researching this for a few years now and have gotten to the point where I am ready. I have my surgery date. Yes, your BMI is on the low side for weight loss surgery. But if you have any weight related health issues (sleep apnea, diabetes, etc) your doctor will most likely recommend you. It depends on your surgeons requirements. Good luck!
