New Here And Pre Op. No Date Set Yet!
jenneliza replied to amcdowell779's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Welcome! Everyone here is so nice and there are people from phase (just thinking to several years out!). Try not to beat yourself up too much over the diet. It is very important but don't defeat yourself if you slip a little. Just get on track ASAP! This preop phase seems like its long but it goes so quick. And the best thing about the app? It's always 'open'! -
Can't Do The Puree!
jenneliza replied to his_only_mrs's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You can try to chew carefully but if something gets stuck you will be sorry. Tuna, egg, chicken and seafood salads are easy to purée and taste the same. They helped me alot. Also pureed crab cakes minus breadcrumbs before they were baked. Did my purees more like a paste than liquid. -
I added baby beef to tomatoe soup. It was ok. Really was craving fruit so I did apples and cherries and it was good!

Ahhh they were always reliable when I needed a cute outfit for any occasion. At least soon we can go to many more stores!

Congrats Dee!! I can't wait until I can wear my jeans tucked into knee high boots and not look ridiculous. Not this year but next!!

Might Be Tmi But I Am So Worried
jenneliza replied to janelane's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
A liter of water weighs 2.2 lbs so you are just retaining water most likely. I wouldn't weigh yourself until after your period and just watch your sodium and eat what you normally are allowed right now. -
My friends were playing beer pong yesterday and I couldn't play! And I still haven't found any thing to help with my constant thirst. Nothing is refreshing!

Completely right there with ya. Especially this weekend, there were all kinds of yummy meats, fruits, veggies, and sweets that were calling my name at cookouts and I couldn't have any...couldn't have a beer or cocktail, and none of the drinks were sugar free and non carbonated! Got stuck with tap Water And here I am watching food network and now craving Mexican food and fried southern food. Going to the grocery store sucks because it's so full of thinks that make me sick. I can't go out to lunch with my friends during our lunch break because they do Arby's or Subway and I just don't feel like paying $5 for a few bites of something. Today I was complaining of needing to throw up and my daughter said "mom you always say you need to throw up." Well I guess I feel like that most of the day every day. I know this is pessimistic. On the bright side I am saving a ton of money on fast food and am healthier (well maybe b/c I keep forgetting my vitamins). I don't think I will feel better about this until I'm not in plus size clothing and eating 2 bites of low carb per meal. I think it's time to hit up the support group.

How do you deal with your chocolate cravings? The protein shakes and bars just didn't do it. I found that Silk Light Chocolate Soy Milk has been the best... Just can't handle more than 1/2 cup at a time.

Ooh I live near Hershey so I'm gonna have to get tons of them. Love peppermint patties! Would be nice to keep at work too. There is always junk there!

Eat 1 Or 2 Tablespoons Then ...
jenneliza replied to milan's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Definitely sounds like a stricture. Maybe try going back to liquids until your appt? Good luck! -
At first everything needed to be salty and spicy. Beans and hot sauce were great. But now I'm sick of Splenda, sour, and salty or spicy. I miss fruits an veggies so bad and nothing is refreshing. Thinking about trying babyfood fruit ice cold.

Found A New Non Milky Protein Drink
jenneliza replied to cjoyce's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thanks I'll give this a try. Tried protein blitz and isopure and couldn't stand them! -
I pulled the cheese off a slice and it was saucy so it satisfied my craving.

I drove at one week but it was difficult. I felt a lot of pulling in my abs and it was definitely uncomfortable. All that was gone after driving for a few days.

I'm 8 weeks out from surgery and having trouble introducing new foods. Apparently in now lactose intolerant. I can handle cheese but not yogurt or milk. Also meats don't sit very well with me either. Fruits and veggies hurt my pouch and shakes make me gag now. I've been eating mostly eggs, beans, and cheese every day and getting so sick of it! Any suggestions? Also we eat almost every meal away from home... So grab and go is the best for us!

Tuna makes me sick now and I can do meatless chilli but I'm sick of it. Now that I think of it most foods make me nauseous.

I was on each stage for two weeks. It sucked!

I went home the next day. Pain wasn't an issue and I was sooo ready to sleep uninterrupted for more than an hour!

Honestly I didn't use half the things I bought. The sippy cups just didn't work and I felt stupid. But the. Any spoons were great - I still use them. sugar free ice pops and unjury chicken Protein mix (which counts as a clear and tastes like ramen) were the best purchases.

G N C Total Lean Shakes
jenneliza replied to Big Lou's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have the berries n cream, vanilla, choc, choc pb powders and the Swiss chocolate ready to drink. I like them all but some have 250 calories so beware! -
Some eggs are great. Others aren't. Hard boiled eggs don't go down well at all. Neither do fried or over cooked scrambled eggs. Softly cooked scrambled egg and poached are great! They are a great source of protein!!

Any gluten free families out there? Our family has been talking about going gluten free and figured now is a great time because I'm already avoiding bread, Pasta, etc and school has started (we are doing it for my son's attention and my daughter's gi symptoms). Just wondering if anyone out there has tips? Any good low carb gluten free recipes that we can eat together? Thanks

Thanks! I think one of the challenges will be having to pack lunches for both kids everyday and have them not get sick of gf sandwiches. I will check out that blog thanks!
