Dang congrats! Didn't feel like I lost weight and realized that I lost a few sizes!

Oh my I have made a lighter chicken ala king minus the pastry and that feels good in my belly. Homemade Soups are my favorite. Us PA dutch know how to make the best comfort soups ever! 'naked ravioli' ... Ricotta, egg, cheese, spices and a little sauce. Egg, goat cheese omelette with fresh basil and oregano yum! Also a little polenta topped with a homemade sausage and tomato sauce. but I am craving two dishes my brother posted on instagram last night. Gonna have him make them for me this weekend.

Today was definitely a bad pouch day. I woke up kind of feeling hungry or close to it so I tried a protein shake. Yuck!!! Couldn't get it down. Then was nauseous all day so didn't have lunch. For dinner I ate 3 oz rotisserie chicken which I have had several times since surgery without problems. Omg the pain was so intense. I threw up and thought I was better so went shopping. On the highway I had to pull over and throw up several more times because the pain was so bad. My little pouch has been sore ever since

They said my pouch looked fine when they scoped me but did dilate my esophagus. I have to see the surgeon tomorrow. My pouch still hurts from throwing up. And I can't tolerate solids. Thanks for the well wishes.

Life Is A Little Depressing
jenneliza replied to landensmommy10's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I've been watching more food network than ever before! It is definitely a challenge to say no to food. And just had my first vomiting spell from eating chicken too fast today. A few hours later and my pouch still hurts! It's amazing that food can have such a hold on us! -
I am 6 weeks post op and have lost 50 pounds!!! It's weird because I know it's an accomplishment but doesn't feel any different. It doesn't feel like 50 gone.

I have not tried them. I usually stick to teas from my local tea shop since I like loose leaf tea. I also love teas from Traditional Medicinals. I'll look up Republic of Teas. Are they keurig as well? I can't really afford a keurig but maybe it will be my tax return splurge next year

Wow 10g of protein! Will definitely have to try them! Please let me know if you come up with any good recipes or ideas for them!

I tried decaf with sugar free hazelnut creamer at about 3 weeks and it just wasn't good. So I tried sugar free french vanilla. No good. Just doesn't taste right to me anymore. I did try a half caf skinny iced mocha and it didn't taste good either. I'll still try coffee from time to time because I loved it so much preop. Now my taste is all about black tea and herbal teas - yum!

They have protein? Maybe ground up would be ok but I'm only 8 weeks out so am avoiding anything seedy. They can get stuck in the staple lines of the pouch.

losing fat causes a release of estrogen so this is likely to cause acne. with my skin which is sensitive, just using a gentle soap once a day or twice if needed and not wearing makeup to cover it up seems to be the best thing. once i start loading the skin up on drying products it gets worse. also just watch your diet which could cause it and drink an extra few servings of Water which should really help as well. if it continues and appears to be cystic acne, contact your doctor and they may be able to prescribe something for it.

Bipolar And Needing Surgery
jenneliza replied to kimpossible67's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Kiwi is very right. Sometimes it can be easy to watch all of your friends eat pizza or whatever in front of you and sometimes it just sucks. Sometimes you will just feel like you are missing out. But you gotta just ride it out and think positively. Another thing that I know is sometimes required for patients is 'plan B'. This is what you will do when you are not able to use all of your old coping mechanisms like smoking, drinking, eating, etc when you are stressed, having cravings, bored, or depressed. You will be much more successful to have a contingency and healthier coping skills. Luckily, cleaning has turned into one of my biggest ones which is kindof a win-win! Also it has been nice to keep little crafty projects handy for those nights when I'm bored and miss snacking. -

Bipolar And Needing Surgery
jenneliza replied to kimpossible67's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Ok - here is a watered down science lesson but I promise it will make sense... Serotonin is the chemical that your brain either doesn't recognize well or you don't have enough of when you are depressed. Serotonin is partially made from cholesterol. After RNY your cholesterol levels will likely drop which means your Serotonin levels will also drop. Which means you are prone to depression after RNY. But this doesn't mean you are definitely going to be depressed. It just means you will have to diligently take your medications and communicate with your doctor if you feel the need to adjust your medications. If you see a pyschiatrist for meds, they will be aware of this. If you see your PCP then maybe this would be a good time to get on board with someone with more expertise in this area. Your surgeon has likely been down this road many times so I wouldn't worry too much. It does sound like you are being proactive which is great and an indicator of success! -
Getting Nicotine Out Of Your System
jenneliza replied to kimpossible67's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
If you mean out of your bloodstream, then it would only take a day or two max. If you mean how long will the tiny capillaries throughout your body to start becoming more elastic and healthier, then it will take time and supplements will not speed that up. -
They think I have an ulcer so am having an EGD. I'll let ya know if it is that. Hope you are feeling better.

Hello Everyone Newbie Here
jenneliza replied to Immagetitdown12's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Welcome to your new home! I can say this is by far one of the most supportive group of people I've ever come across. Everyone has such different yet similar experiences. It's great to bounce questions off such a varied group of people. And if you are anything like me, it helps me from talking about rny non stop to my friends and family that (even if they are supportive) just don't quite understand what we are going through. And you are less than one month away from surgery!!! -
Lebim, I just have to say thank you so much for all of your advice! This has all been so very helpful and after all the wonderful passion tea reviews I can't wait to try it! Lol be prepared for lots more questions when the peppermint mocha arrives Thanks again!

Having Trouble Finding Foods
jenneliza replied to snowangel81's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Wendy's chilli goes down easily for me. Poached eggs or soft scrambled with a little turkey sausage and cheese. Cottage cheese. Not too many things I'm comfortable with either but those work well. -
Is Your Surgery Still A Secret?
jenneliza replied to HamDan's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I never announced it on facebook or posted about it but my friends and family and many coworkers know. Just a funny little warning (well maybe not that funny) but a friend at work didn't tell anyone but me and everyone thought he was anorexic or bullemic because of all the time in the bathroom when food gets stuck/dumping and rapid weight loss! -

Labor Day Weekend Indulgences!
jenneliza replied to babygirl901's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I tried a bite of a chilli dog no roll and it was great! Also did half of a flat diet Pepsi and two French fries with lots of vinegar - the best! I stayed away from sweets and veggies bc I just can't handle them yet. But that's awesome for those that got a chance to try some of their old favorites. I bet it felt nice to feel more normal. There was one party though that didn't have a single thing I could try and it wasn't too bad but did bother me a little. Mmmm I could kill for some of my georgia family's Sunday dinner right now. I would totally try a bite of smoke ribs, fried chicken, greens and cornbread stuffing this very second if it were in front of me!
