  1. When you have those moments it is best to take a step back and realize that you are still able and should sit at the table with everyone and spend quality time with them. You will be able to have regular foods again in moderation. It's not easy but gets easier!

    Just Found This App.

Welcome! This is such a great forum. You can really feel free to be yourself here!
  3. In the newly post op period does/did anyone else get completely full on just clear liquids? I can't advance to full liquids like shakes, pudding, or cream soups bc I am just too full from clears. Even if I stop for 30 mins before I'm still so full. I did get down 2 servings so far of full liquids since yesterday and I was so full for like 6 hours after that I couldn't barely drink anything.

    Drinking?

I'm sure there are virgin sf recipes out there!

    Drinking?

My dr and nutritionist recommend to wait one year. I know some of my friends after bypass can't even handle a full drink or shot a year or two after surgery. Also there are lots of hidden sugars in drinks.

    Weak Bones

Definitely get a bone density test. It's called a dexa scan. You have plenty of risk factors for insurance to pay for it. Make sure it is a full one that measures your spine and hips - not the one that only do the heel they are worthless. You will be able to find out if you have osteoporosis or osteopenia which is like borderline osteoporosis. Oh and in the meantime stay away from caffeine and make sure that when you take calcium take Vitamin d with it. Hope you feel better soon.

    Sipping & Chewing!

Baby spoons are so worth it! I found some with a longer handle so it's not awkward feeling. I tried sippy cups and just didn't like them. Tried medicine cups and didn't like them. I just use a glass. And the others are right. You will remember not to gulp each time bc you won't want to! The first time I was so afraid of throwing up ( just sounds soo painful to do that post op)!

    Nurses Unite!

Sorry to hear that he was a butthead but lol that she told you all that! I know this is crazy but I remembered her telling me that I would live to be old so it helped my anxiety about facing this surgery bc I went into sepsis and coded after my first c section. So I was really scared about more surery. She tol me some really surprising things. I know they seem like a waste if money and I've only done it once but would love to do it again! Let me know if you ever want to do a group session.

    Nurses Unite!

I would love a job like that. I initially intended to be a midwife but I just can't afford more school. I kinda hate my current job bc it's not using my skills or challenging enough but I work 8:30-5 mon-fri which is what I need as a single mom. But I've been keeping my eyes open!

    I Hit Onederland!

Congrats! Don't forget how proud you are. That will keep you from seeing 200 again! Way to go!

    I Hit Onederland!

Having a foreign object in me scares me. But it's whatever makes you comfortable. Also make sure your ins pays for band adjustment which is done many times. I've heard most don't.

    Anyone Doing Medifast?

Just wondering if anyone is doing medifast or has tried it? I did it for four months and it worked well. Their packets would probably be about 2 meals. They are low carb and high protein. I didn't do the numbers but instead of doing 5 packets per day, two would probably be plenty. I could go for their brownies and chili right about now!
  13. Agreed. My doc just had to document how many diets I did and how much i lost with each. I included things like taking phentermine or slim fast. Like medifast etc. you could just get a copy of receipts or something like an account summary from curves an ww.

    Pureed Foods

    I'm allowed on day 21.

    Start Pureed Tomorrow!

I was told that if it is low carb enough, you can purée it. My friend actually puréed a chilli cheese dog - although I wouldn't recommend it. You can use chicken, beef, ham broth spaghetti sauce, milk etc to thin out your foods. You can purée a meatball w sauce, beef stew, chilli, baby beef or chicken with cheese and taco seasoning. My favorite is strawberry Greek yogurt, cottage cheese, and cheesecake sf pudding!

    Surgery Day

I think that as long as you can meet your nutritional requirements and physical limitations it will be fine. Do you have to lift your luggage or will there be someone with you to help? Is it a very long flight where blood clots are an issue? You are right, you are going to enjoy their company, not food. I've already been to a birthday party and barbecue and I'm 8 days out. Family reunion this weekend. If you have a bad moment just remind yourself that food is not the priority of the event! It's doable.

    Peanut Butter Cookies

I've seen recipes without any sugar or sweetener. Maybe to a test batch...I would maybe do 1/4 c each of trivia and Splenda so the sweetener is halved?

    Protein Shake

I had surgery 8 days ago. Tried to thin baby oatmeal and potato leek Soup but was full for like 6-8 hours after 1.5 oz. I can get down unjury Protein chicken broth easier bc it counts as a clear liquid. I found that oh yeah shakes and GNC total lean are thinner, more like milk consistency and go down much easier. The only place I can find oh yeah around here is gas stations but they retail nationally and online. When I went to the surgeon they told me to forget about the protein for a little while and just focus on hydrating so back to clears for a few more days. She said I will be fine for a few more days and then start again.
