    Dumping

I got that with diluted apple juice. I was still having post op diarrhea so wouldn't have noticed it anyway. But had wicked hot flashes an felt tired.

    Post Op Food

I guess it depends in what stages. My first 3 weeks are all liquids so it's just protein and crystal light! Will you be allowed pudding cream soup or puree?
  3. I am 10 days post op and decided stupidly to try a few spoonfuls of cream of mushroom (which is allowed at this point) around 2:30 this afternoon. It's now dinner time and there is no way I can even get in a sip of a protein shake. Lesson learned Won't make that mistake again. I've been full and felt crappy for hours! Would it be a mistake to try and drink the protein tonight closer to bed time?
  4. You will be able to do healthy snacking in between down the line...this was just wayyyy too soon! I'm still full 3 hours later, can't even get a sip in so that means not meeting my protein requirements for the day.

    Soups

V8 soups are good too. I had tomato basil last night. 1/4 cup is only 3.8 g sugar. A bit on the high side but should not be a problem.
  6. I agree as well. Just in my personal experience with friends this is what I've seen... Lap band 3/4 did not lose any significant weight. Only 1/4 did and is still overweight but much better. Rny 7/8 lost significant weight and are a healthy weight. 1/8 was not compliant and gained weight back. Sleeve only one friend did that but lost weight to a healthy level.

    Adipex

I took that about 7 years ago and it helped me lose about 50 lbs but the side effects were uncomfortable. And if I knew then what I do now, I wouldn't have taken it. It's not good for your heart. Most docs wont prescribe it. And don't get it online! You can't guarantee it's not just Tylenol or sugar pils!
  8. Wow this is amazing! Thanks for putting this together! I would like to add the ISB The incentive spirometer is something your nurses will have you breath through several times per hour. Most patients do not like this and feel like they are being bugged about this. It's very important because it keeps the little sacks in your lung open which can prevent post op pneumonia.

    Fiber

My nutritionist always said for meals eat your protein first then a veggie. I guess just make sure you can try to eat more low carb veggies like green beans cucumber broccoli etc... I know Splenda makes a packet with fiber if you use that too. Unfortunately all the best things like whole wheat breads and cereals are off limits!

    Peanut Butter

Idk if you can buy it in stores but it is made by bell plantation and you can buy it online. If you look it up, check the nutrition info, it will amaze you! Oh yeah, you can mix it with milk or water and just use it as regular pb.

    Vegetarians

Im not a vegetarian but there are definitely ways to get enough protein... You will have to supplement after surgery. There are endless options with protein shakes, powders, juices and bars. And of course you will just have to make sure when you do eat, that it is protein rich.

    Fiber

When was your surgery? Are you allowed to have regular foods yet?
  17. I just talked to my doc about this today. It's normal. It's normal to also have several a day and for it to be very loose. No worries!

    /sigh I Hate Ignorant People

I also lost a very close friend because of this and had no support from a few family members bc I had complications from a csection that landed me in the hosptial for 6 weeks. They thought it would happen again. You did the right think by walking away. People like that are too closed minded to think about WLS from another perspective than their own. You can try to explain it until you are blue in the face but she won't hear you. The bottom line is that you are entitled to do what you want with your body and others do not need to approve of that (except for the insurance company lol). Sorry you had a sucky day but hopefully tomorrow is much better! And btw, how many more days do you have left?

    Peanut Butter

i've always loved a spoonful stirred into my oatmeal or yogurt. maybe in chocolate pudding too! have you ever tried pb2? it's like peanut powder...they take out the oil which has the cals and fat. It's great to mix into almost anything! pb sounds so good right now!

    100+ To Loose

I'm also looking to lose over 100 lbs. I know it will be a long journey, but life is so much longer than the time it will take to lose the weight. Surgery was last week and have already started mall walking but ready to start more exercise!

    What Keeps You Going?

I agree. It's not worth stopping if you want it that bad. And there are a bunch of sites online that will help you write an appeal letter. It's totally worth it!
