Welcome! This is a great place to connect with others that don't judge and know what you are going through!

I wasn't given a limit. But my nutritionist did recommend staying below two sugars per meal. Every one is different with their tolerance too. You may be allowed 10 grams per serving but only tolerate 6. I would ask your nutritionist.

Let's Get This Out Of Our System! What Food...
jenneliza replied to worm2872's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I did try this but forget which recipe I used. Whichever one it was had a little too much soy sauce so maybe start with half. http://www.lowcarbluxury.com/recipes/recipe-combo11.html http://recipes.sparkpeople.com/recipe-detail.asp?recipe=586165 -

Mmm the cheddar ones! Dissolve in your mouth bc they are for babies!

I would try some ricotta, mozarella, pizza sauce, and maybe sausage. (I don't think pepperoni would purée well - too hard). Mix, puree, bake and sprinkle with parm? Down the road there is a recipe for crust made only from cauliflower egg and mozarella and it's amazing!

Cooking/organizing For Returning To Work
jenneliza replied to jenneliza's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Aww I'm sorry! Truth be told I rode in the little wheelchair cart when I went to the store on day5. It's amazing how much energy it takes. You will feel much better soon! So I do have a wonderfully amazing chicken salad recipe but it involves walnuts and red grapes - more deli style. So I need to tweak it into a pouch friendly version. I'll keep ya posted. I want to use plain Greek yogurt instead of mayo for extra protein. I've done it with tuna and it was great! -
I dumped off truvia so I guess it's possible. My surgeon said it is possible but not likely. Just gotta try it!

Glad everything is going well!

I Love Bread And Carbs!
jenneliza replied to preshiz pink's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I live in York where are you from? -
Sounds ok. It is a little different for everyone. I dumped from using truvia which is sugar free but if your body thinks its sugar then you could be in trouble. I also dumped from diluted apple juice. Some are more sensitive I guess.

Oh yeah, nix that straw they are a big no-no! They can distend the pouch due to excess air which can lead to stretching (and more gas!) I was told they are forbidden forever after rny. Glad you are feeling better and you are a smartie for taking walking breaks to avoid DVT and gas! It is always better to be home where you are more comfortable. Congrats again!

I've never had problems with pills but now I kind of gag. And they don't sit we'll in my pouch. And I swear I can feel them. I'm on blood thinners and can't wait till they are done! oh and I was told not to crush them bc I'm still on liquids. Has anyone else had issues with pills? Any solutions?

Yup, you are right where you should be!

Problems With Pills
jenneliza replied to jenneliza's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
That's a good idea -i'll have to get some tomorrow! And you did ok with the applesauce? I'm so worried about dumping! I have to take 6 pills a day for my Coumadin - and I don't think I need it now bc I'm walking so much. Yes, my surgery was on 7/10 so we are right with each other! -
Problems With Pills
jenneliza replied to jenneliza's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm on liquids so crushing would be difficult to get them down. Coumadin does not taste good lol! -
Sigh I'm sure you are right. Will have to work on a recipe for this. I want it to still taste authentic but be healthy. I'll let ya know!
-
Yeah it's full of sugar. I used to drink it lots before preop and miss it like crazy! Too much sugar for post op.

Thanks now I'm hungry for fried fish! Prolly could oven fry... Just a little cornmeal and seasoning. Anyone know if this is ok?
-
Can't wait to get to the point to try this!! Thanks!

Eating At Family Events..?
jenneliza replied to preshiz pink's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I plan on bringing my own dish to social events to make sure there is something there I am able to have. If you get stuck without a fall back dish, look for lunch meat and roll up with a piece of cheese, or chicken or ham. We will still have some options! -

Pecan waffles and pancakes with lots of syrup! but...i guess i could do a protein pancake... so I'm going to go with my mom's homemade mac and cheese or olive garden seafood alfredo! mmm carbs! -
Have you ever got a large soda to split with your kid because it will save a dollar or two? I have. Granted, we shouldn't have bought a soda, but something healthier. I think this is a slippery slope. I'd rather see the government work on getting soda out of schools if they feel they must intervene.

Any One Do This In Three Months?
jenneliza replied to worm2872's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Some insurances only require three months, and the doctor almost always agrees to this. Lucky you!
