How Long Before Chicken?
jenneliza replied to dstollery's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
For a quick dinner I did one of those microwavable breasts in gravy (like Tyson or Hormel and yes I know they are terrible for you!) at 3-4 weeks and had no problems whatsoever. Just shredded it and kept it moist. I think a rotisserie chicken would go down well to because it is moist. I like shredding it - feels like you are eating more and it's easier to take smaller bites. Good luck! -
How Are You Losing 20-30 Pounds In A Couple Of Days?
jenneliza replied to Fishy's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I think alot of people are putting their highest weight as their preop weight. And like DS said, my preop weight was followed by 2 weeks of a liquid diet and lost almost 20 lbs then. I saw someone post a 100 lb weight loss in 2 weeks and as a RN I can tell you it is scientifically impossible. -
Sh!t Just Got Real. Regrets.
jenneliza replied to got2bethin's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Had a moment at work where I got a little jello of all my friends eating yummy taco saladinland soda for lunch. Can't have salads yet and of course soda is a no-no. And I had my little slice of lunch meat. I really wanted a soda or something sugary. But then realized that even though it sucked a little I was very greatful for the surgery and not being allowed to have soda. Because it is a tool to help us resist temptations we couldn't otherwise resist! -

I didn't know if everyone knew this, but if you log on to myfitnesspal on your computer, you can put input a recipe and it will break it down to nutritional facts per serving (and you can make it your smaller serving sizes)! ie: I put in my homemade tuna salad, crab cakes, and egg bites and it added them to my database. It's a big time saver instead of adding the ingredients one by one each time! Just found this and thought it was cool so wanted to share

I'm out of town and tried some meat last night. It felt kinda stuck. Not enough to make me throw up but I can feel it. I was uncomfortable all night. This morning after my shake I felt like throwing up but couldn't and now I feel terrible and still feel like im full and like its in my throat too. And dang it I didn't bring my papaya enzymes! Any suggestions please?

New Reciepe - Craving Pizza?

Thanks! Soon we will have an explosion of tomatoes in our garden. Looks great! -
Yes some surgeons use it to decompress the stomach. It may possibly hooked up to light intermittent suction on the wall. It won't hurt and will be taped to your cheek then safety pinned to your gown. Its much easier to insert during surgery than after. It's a little old school but nothing to worry about.

That's a very good suggestion. Warm liquids or sf ice pops may make you more comfortable. Hoarness, sore throat, and cuts in your mouth are all normal parts of anesthesia and they just take a little time but it wont last forever!

I agree with all the others and would like to add that one of my major concerns with drinking after rny is the increases risk of ulcers. I had pretty bad gerd before rny and I'm betting lots of you all did too. Its not worth it to me to get sloppy drunk from a drink, possibly dump or cause liver damage or ulcers. Maybe after a few months will have one small drink on special occasions but not ready yet.
