Everything you are experiencing is normal! My tummy was very loud for about 2 weeks and still is sometimes. It doesn't mean anything bad. I had diarrhea for about the first week and that's normal. You are drinking mostly liquids and when you get more solid food it will firm up.

Talk Me Out Of It!
jenneliza replied to kimpossible67's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
if you have a smartphone, there is the livestrong app which i used to quit smoking. it has a button to push when you have a craving and it gives you a motivational quote, fact, or picture. you can also track your cravings, costs, days smoke free, etc. it gives you nice little award badges for making milestones. another which i use more is called 'my last cigarette' it tracks your health improvement, how many cigs you haven't smoked, days smoke free, and my favorite...how much money you have saved, and more! also has a daily pic for when you are having cravings. it's hard but so worth it. you can do it!! -
Momentary Lapse Of Reason (Paying For My Sins)
jenneliza replied to punk.rock.mama's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
sigh - i've been craving a gyro for weeks now so i can kinda feel your pain. i know that one bite won't be enough so i won't get one. i did over do it with tomatoes the other day and felt full and acidic for the rest of the day. consider it lesson learned - you won't do that again! -
haha same here. I asked for a kid's sized burger patty with swiss -no bun and a box at red robin. the waiter looked at me like i was crazy!

Have You Done The Chew And Spit?
jenneliza replied to jadeharper's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I did that at about week 2 with baby carrots. I was making them for my kids and missed crunchy food. Lol I spit it out and rinsed too! I think it's just a part of coping and adjusting to the new lifestyle. Just be careful that these foods aren't triggers which will lead to cheating! -
I made this too...did black beans x2 and a can of navy beans, and a can of diced no salt added tomatoes. The kids and I loved it! This recipe is definitely a keeper. Thanks for sharing! This will be a great low cal dinner for fall.

yes that's fine! miso is great for a change too!

idk how much time you have for classes, or if you can keep an insulated bag in your car or not... lunch meat and cheese rollups are good and easy. tuna, chicken, egg salad. hardboiled egg leftovers -if you have a food court w/microwave protein bars work great if you just need to throw something in your bag - and you might be able to just eat 1/2 a bar! If you have a food court or food truck, the insides of a breakfast burrito or regular burrito work in a pinch (minus rice). string cheese, cottage cheese, greek yogurt you will have lots of options if you get creative!

1.5Km Walk Tonight
jenneliza replied to jadeharper's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
awesome! great way to jump start weight loss but more importantly this close to surgery will help protect you from blood clots, pneumonia, etc. keep up the great work! -
i have had days like that too. last week had a snack an hour after a "large dinner" -1/4 cup and didn't get sick. I actually lost more weight in the two days after that (brought me out of starvation mode and boosted metabolism??) i think if this is only occasional it is ok. you just don't want to over do it all the time because you will stretch!

You can also do swiss or parm chips. Cut sliced Swiss into quarters and place on plate. Micro for less than 30 seconds until hard. Parm chips spray plate with Pam and add a few small piles of fresh shredded parm. Micro for about same amount of time. Voila, chips! Not as healthy as kale chips but great in a pinch.

Hardest Thing About This ?
jenneliza replied to Big Lou's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I went through a phase of not wanting to eat anything to wanting to eat all my favorite old trigger foods. Grocery shopping has been a little depressing, as has watching my loved ones and friends eat my faves. But losing almost 50 lbs in 6 weeks is worth it! -
Heartburn Anyone? How Bout A Side Of Joint Pain?
jenneliza replied to Losing4Lundyn's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
No heartburn here, but if I feel like my pouch isn't feeling right I take a Prilosec which makes it feel better. -
The hospital will hopefully let you stay another day or two...just let them know upfront after you get to your room that you are concerned about going home alone. I stayed with my mom for four days but she didn't do much except laundry which was very helpful. You won't need much cooking at first because you'll be on liquids. I went home on day five and have two kids by myself so was cooking, cleaning, etc. It's possible.

Haha lactulose will work for sure!

How long after surgery did you try it?

Lucky! Wish I could get one! They are so tight with our inventory we can't do that anymore!

Similar Situation Opinions Wanted
jenneliza replied to aleyampat's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Sounds like structure too. The other thing i would try to rule out would be a SBO. Are you having good bowel movements? When I get nausea the first thing I try is a Prilosec which does often help. If not I go back to clear liquids for the rest of the day. Good luck and keep us posted! Was just wondering how you have been! -
Yum I love these! Haven't had them for a long time but getting some kale tomorrow! Have you tried steamed kale since surgery?
