Surgery scheduled, insurance approved, now I'm so confused!
music1618 replied to josephnyc's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The way you stop eating the entire pizza is that it will physically hurt to continue to eat. Also you will not be hungry! I explain the feeling to people as eating thanksgiving dinner. That over stuffed miserable feeling - well you will feel it just about every time you eat. -
Any pain you should call you doctors office. There could be a multitude of reasons behind the pain.

I eat 1 to 2 bananas a day. It has really good vitamins in it. As for the sugar I have always been told eat then early in the day and you burn off that sugar. It has a good amount of potassium, andi found when I stopped eating them my potassium was off in my blood work. I am able to eat an entire banana without any problem and use them as my in between meals snack. I for some reason get a little nauseous when I pair it with protein. I am 1.5 years pot op!

I have always wanted to run on a beach and this morning I was able to do that. It has been 1.5 years since my surgery and I am training in Sarasota Florida for a new job. I got up early this morning to go for a run. It was beautiful to watch the sunrise and achieve a goal! I love my new life!! The pictures are my view this morning.

I know of people who think this is the easy way out, and we all know they are wrong. However I have an acquaintance that is getting ready to have the sleeve done. He believes it is the easy way out. That the pull of a few sutures and he will drop the weight off as easy as snapping you fingers. To me he is setting himself up for a big let down. The perception is that once we have the surgery we never struggle with our eating habits again. That before it was all about the lack of "will power". Since having the bypass 1.5 years ago I can honestly say that my will power was never an issue. It takes more will power now to eat right and take care of myself. I think those people that have been with me since the beginning have seen that this is a daily struggle. Some days are easier than others, but we all still have the "fat voice" in our heads.

PROTEIN HELP PLEASE!
music1618 replied to drobinson1's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
All docs are different, and you need to follow your docs orders. Please keep in mind that activity level really determines your protein needs. Protein helps our bodies heal, gives us energy, and provides fuel for your body. Increasing protein can snap you out of a stall, and will also prevent your hair from falling out. -

I had that my ring which is why I took it off to wash my hands. It hurt me to rub my hands together with the plastic thing on my ring. -
I had that issue for about a year post op. Went to several docs and they concluded it was the new me. My GI doc gave me some meds that slow down the GI tract and really help. Please speak to your doc.

So glad you found it. Mine was stolen at work when I left it on the bathroom sink to wash my hands. It was getting so loose and I was worried I would loose it down the drain. Well I walked out and did not notice it was gone until several hours later. What stinks is I am fairly sure I know who stole it. The cameras showed three people going in and out of the bathroom after that, and all said they never saw it. On a good note hubby bought me a new one for Christmas and I love it so much. It's not my original ring, but it is ultimately a piece of jewelry and I would rather have the love that it stands for. So glad you found yours!! Get it sized ASAP! -
everything hurts my tummy
music1618 replied to AutumnPunkin's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
Have you talked with your doc? I was having issues at that stage and got through it with medication. Stuff for the nausea - phenergen, scopolamine patch were my life savers. I did not drink protein shakes for the first 6 months. I hated the taste. After crying in my docs office at about 1 month post op I realized he could help me. It is what we are paying them for. Dairy will make the gallbladder worse so stead away from it. -
How do you know when your pouch is full?
music1618 replied to tkauhi's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Your nerve endings have not healed yet at 4 days. It takes months for the nerve ending to heal completely. Which is why it is so important to stick to measuring until you know your full feeling. For me I feel like I have eaten thanksgiving. That overly stuffed feeling. Nausea was my hungry signal until about 1 year out. -
Everyone what you are experiencing is head hunger. Your brain wants what it used to have. It will do anything to get it. After you surgery your nerve ending have not healed enough to signal hunger. Please make sure you are sticking to the diet at all times. You will get though this awful stage of liquids and start eating normal food again I promise!

Take a deep breath! Now take another deep breath! This is a long distance run and you must remember to breathe. Periods add water weight, you are also recovering from MAJOR surgery. Now as for the eating part you must stick to your docs diet. You could do serious damage to yourself if you don't.
