any recommendations for clear liquid protein?
music1618 replied to Natasha K's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Egg whites. You can add them to water and you don't taste it. Don't go to the grocery store to get them you need to get them online or at a health food store. -
Straws? When can we use them again
music1618 replied to jaymi2521's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My doc said straws were ok to use. I was given straws while in the hospital after surgery. -
mystery pain, need help.
music1618 replied to jenbum89's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My first thought was female pain. Maybe your ovaries. -
My doc said be weary of protein bars as they have a lot of things we don't need to eat. He said if you are on the go he understands eating them every once in a while, but they should not be part of you regular diet

Worried about water intake
music1618 replied to agirlofaith's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was a big water drinker before surgery and it was tough for several months getting used to not drinking as much. Just get in as much as you can. After surgery it is the #1 thing to do. -
getting sick w/ Protein drinks
music1618 replied to tink65's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Finally at 7 months old I can drink them without those feelings. -
Right now I go to the gym about 3 times a week and play soccer once a week. In about a month when soccer season starts I will be playing 4 times a week. I am 7 months post op.

Am I Able to Eat TOO Much?
music1618 replied to Losing4Lundyn's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My doc said that there is no way that I can stretch my pouch because of the way he does the surgery. I would get a second opinion from another WLS doc. -

Kay Also remember the more you stress yourself out the more likely to have a lupus flare up. Stay calm and everything will work out. What state are you in? -

Kat Look up the ms society or foundation. They have a program where you can go to a gentle yoga class for free. You will just have to find a studio that has the class. I have RA and it really helped. It helps with mobility and strength. If your doctor gives you grief about not losing the weight talk about your lupus. Don't use it as a crutch, but losing the weight will greatly improve your mobility. If you have any questions let me know. -
New and feel alone!
music1618 replied to vickilynn1973's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My doc said he did not care about my protein intake the first week or so. His only concern was fluid intake. I bought the little sippy cups and found little victories in getting through one of those. Then I would refill it and start all over. It was easier than trying to look at the entire 64oz at once. -
Am I Able to Eat TOO Much?
music1618 replied to Losing4Lundyn's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
MY doc talked about this yesterday in a group class I went to. He said some things you feel like you can eat more because there not as heavy. While other things you can only take a few bites and your full. Remember your body will naturally adjust to your new pouch and everyone is different. Personally if my doc talked to me like that I would be looking for a new one. -
I have an embarrassing question
music1618 replied to mary2008's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hubby and I are like newlyweds again. I feel sexier and in the mood all the time. -
Actually you are right on schedule to feel like this. It is normal. It is called head hunger and I still struggle with it 6 months later. Hang in there!
-
Heather, Everyone's body is different and adjusts to the surgery differently. At 7 weeks out your body is still in shock and wants to hold onto everything you put in it. You have cut you daily calories by at least half. Your body is think what the hell is this chick thinking. Also I noticed that Water weight really changes the scale. The surgery works, but you have to be patient. Remember you did not gain the weight over night and it will take a little while for it to come off. Try to stay off the scale as much as you can and don't beat yourself up - it will come off!!!

My New Years gift was reaching 90 pounds lost. My surgery date was June 5. As I hit this milestone there is a part of me that is so scared that I will gain it back.

What size are you now?
music1618 replied to michelecaples's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I wish women's clothes were like men's in that issue. It can be so disheartening to fit into a 14 in one pant and an 18 in another -
Well while cleaning the house today I noticed I had a lot of clothes that no longer fit me and taking up closet space. So the clean out began and tomorrow The Good Will gets 3 bags full of clothes. I hated to part with some of them as I loved them so much, but then I would remember I can buy new clothes that I always wanted but was too big for!

What They Don't Tell You About RNY!
music1618 replied to lovealways's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It will get better. 2 months is when I was having my problems with rny and trust me you are able to quench your thirst. Also tell your doc that zofran is not working. It stopped working for me and he gave me reglan and phenergan. I now do not take anything. -
13 days til surgery and now I'm scared :-(
music1618 replied to mrs.mda's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Welcome to the group. I have always been honest about telling people. I was scared they would think I had a disease like cancer, but it is a personal choice. You do not have to tell anyone. When asked about the weight loss say you are working hard on your New Years resolution. As for the skin question there are a lot of factors. Age, genetics, amount of weight loss. I am 33 and have found working out is the best thing to stay toned. I have some flabby skin, but hopefully my increased work outs will help. I 7 months post op down 89 pounds. This group is wonderful and no question is off limits so if you have more let us know! -
I did not have kidney stones, but I had a lot of UTI following surgery.

What size are you now?
music1618 replied to michelecaples's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I started in a 20/22 and I am in a 14 right now, but they are getting loose. I would be happy in a 12 or 10. Actually I am very happy in a 14. Never thought I would see that size again. My short size is a medium or large. I am fitting into my hubby's shirts which was something I never would have thought was possible. My goal is to be able to buy cute bra and panties sets. I bought really cute panties last night, but my boobs are still too big for the matching bra.
