  1. As someone who is married can I offer some advice. Yes we have lots of energy now - I went from playing soccer 2x week to 5x a week. Hubby was concerned I was doing too much. We talked things through and he understands and supports me now. My point is you mention that you THINK your husband misses the down time, but you should really talk to him. Be open and honest you still have a lot if changes to go and your journey is really just beginning.we change so much we sometimes forget to explain things to our loved ones. If your hubby is like mine they worry about us and worry we are taking on too much.
  2. Well I am 11 months post op and the one thing I have learned from this group is the EVERYONE is different. I say that so that you take everything with a grain of salt. I had a rough 3-4 months. For at least 1 month post op I threw everything up when I tried to advance my diet. I was nauseated everyday. I talked with my doc and with the help of medication I got through that 3-4 month period. Now I can eat anything I want and I don't get sick too much any more. After I eat I feel like I have eaten thanksgiving dinner. I get hungry, but the smallest thing takes that feeling away. There are some days I honestly could forget to eat, but that is very unhealthy.

    Bruises?

Yep I bruise really easy now. The sorest ones are when you do not know what you did. I kept getting a bruise on my upper arm. It would go away and then like magic it would appear. I never could figure out what it was. It made my arm hurt, and looked like someone was grabbing me really hard. Well one day at work I was trying to catch a stray dog and I let the wire out on my catch pole the metal wire snapped back and hit me in the exact spot where my bruise was. I stood there thinking how in the world have I missed this wire hitting me all those times. We are talking 10-15 bruises here. Well now I am much careful.
  4. I would say stretch more and that round off would be no problem. Warm up on a bike or treadmill for about 5 min and then stretch really good before every workout. It will improve your circulation and help prevent injuries like this. As for a pulled hamstring please let it heal before you hit the gym too hard. Heating pads are great to help with this type of injury. You still want to stretch everyday during this time, but not as intense as you would during your workouts. Nice gentle stretches are usually recommended.

    Stretched pouch....?

I would think then that you are not eating that much food. I ALWAYS feel when I eat too much. It feels like thanksgiving dinner fullness. I don't throw up if I eat too much, it just hurts. I don't dump on carbs or sugar either.
  7. It is normal to feel this way. It will pass and one day you will be able to eat what you want, but just much smaller portions. Go somewhere and have a really good cry - I felt so much better after I did. Remember your fat cells are releasing hormones right now an you will be a little more on edge. I hated reading my following line when I was going through it, but trust me It does get better!!! Hang in there!!!

    Post ops

I do on the occasion when I want the taste, but the first sip always hurts and burns my pouch. The rest of the sips don't hurt as bad, but I only have a few.

    Being Judged?!

I guess I have been really lucky. I did not have anyone that was negative about my surgery in the beginning stages. My in laws were the ones I was most scared to tell, but to my surprise my brother in law has been thinking about having it and they were very supportive. I have been very honest when people ask me what I did to lose the weight I tell them. Especially if they themselves are overweight. I feel like it is my duty to show people that this works and not everyone has complications an issues or gain it back. I almost see as my chance to spread the good word. I have one person that drives me nuts at work. She keeps telling me I am too skinny. She proclaims her happiness with her fat to everyone. Although she has gotten under my skin about it at times at the end of the day I feel compassion for her. One day she will wake up and realize she is not happy, and if I still know her I will tell her about my surgeon. Remember most of the negative comments are coming from people that are jealous. For years we were considered the fat friend, and now we threaten that role in their lives. They know we will change and it is for the better. You are taking control of your life and standing up to live your life. Good luck

    Bypass vs sleeve

My doc said I could do the sleeve, and always return for the bypass. I only wanted one surgery and figured I should go for everything. I liked the idea of malabsorption with bypass. My reason for having the bypass was to get off of steroids. I figured if I was still taking them after the surgery and my hunger was not changed at least I would not absorb all the calories.
  12. So today is my 10th wedding anniversary. Last year we went to Benihana for dinner and they took a picture of us. Well my husband wanted to go back and get a photo again. We both just sat at the table and looked at the pictures in wonderment. I can't believe it!!! SW 256 CW 140 surgery date 6/5/12. I LOVE my new life!

I had some one yesterday not believe it was me. It was kind of fun to see her reaction when I showed her pictures.

    Wow what a year

Yes he has put on some weight, but last year he was training for the police academy and had dropped a lot of weight doing so. Now it is my turn to try out for the academy!

    Wow what a year

Thanks everyone. I never thought I would be this happy with my new life. I wished I had done this several years ago.
  17. I love wearing dress now and no need for under shorts. There is no rubbing that I can tell. I do have to remember I am in a dress though and after many many years of wearing pants you forget to be a lady sometimes????

    Stretched pouch....?

My doc assured me there is nothing that can stretch out your pouch. He said over time we find foods that we are able to eat in larger quantities. For example chicken is always heavy for me, but shrimp feels lighter. I tend to feel like I eat more when I eat shrimp. Make sense? Hope that helps!
  19. The carbonation hurts. I will have a few sips when i really want the taste.

    sooooo happy

I enjoy going and trying on a size and saying I think that size is too big. Today I went shopping for jeans and found out I was a size 2. I went in wearing a 6! Oh and I love wearing dressed now. Before the surgery my wardrobe consisted of jeans and t-shirts. Now I want dresses and shorts! I have also found that I really like bright colors.

    hi

Some days I drink shakes and some I don't. It really depends on my activity level for the day. You do not just have to drink shakes to get in your protein. Try using double pasteurized egg whites. You can add them to any drink and you do not taste it. It turns a drink with 0 protein in to one with protein. I still struggle with chicken and turkey as well. I find I eat a lot of fish and meat as my protein sources.
