Advice needed
music1618 replied to imaskinnychickfinally's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I would talk to your doctor and see what he recommends. Every doc is different and you want to make sure you follow their rules. With that being said you do have options. My vitamins are powder form and go into my protein shake. The name is new life bariatric supplements. My doc also suggested prenatal vitamins. -
You know you are like a talk radio host. Giving us little teases so we will stay tuned. Yes everything you said about logging food is just how I feel.
-
I have has issues with MFP myself. It got to a point that it was more trouble than I was getting out of it. I know right now I really need to log my foods so that I can hopefully discover if foods are triggering my diarrhea. Any pointer would be great.

My husband said I was starting to stare at him like our dog Molly does when he wants what is on his plate. It is only temporary and it does get better.

You may not be getting enough fluids. It is a sign of heat exhaustion. Sounds like that might be happening. How much fluids are you getting?

Well how's this for motivation - the more you work out the less likely hood of having the loose skin. I don't have much hanging skin in my arms and I think it is mainly because I focused on that during my workouts. Figure out a goal for yourself and when you start to talk yourself out of your workout think of your goal and strive for it!

OMG Whats that smell?!?!?!
music1618 replied to w106fox's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Well I am 13 months post op and still have the bad smell. Trust me I know my husband loves me - because any man that stays with his wife after those smells is a keeper. My poor dog who always sits with me while going to the bathroom has gotten up and left. Now good news is that there is something that will help. It is a product called devrom. It is an internal deodorant. -
You need to find something that gets you excited abut working out. If you don't enjoy it you will stop doing it and lose you motivation quickly. Try many different things. Water aerobics, yoga, kick boxing, Zumba.... There are so many options. As for a trainer find one that understands your goals and fits with your life style. Don't ever let someone make you feel bad about working out. Go visit several different gyms and see what fits you best.

What you are feeling right now is normal, and it does get better. Hang in there!!! -
I lift weights mainly, but I just started running. I also play soccer several times a week.
-
Try working out before work. I found that getting up early and working out made me start my day out with accomplishing something. If I waited until after work I had all day to talk myself out of a workout.
-
Try the voltran gel. It is a NASID that goes directly into the effected joint and never goes through the stomach. There are other meds that might be able to help. I would suggest if your arthritis is bad enough seek the advise of a rheumatologist. They will be better informed of new technologies with meds for joint pain.

what whey protein powder do you like best and where can I get it?
music1618 replied to wkjulius's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
There are so many options. Please learn from my mistakes - don't go buy a whole lot of one brand before surgery. Your taste buds WILL change after surgery, and the powder you love right now will make you nauseous at the thought of it post op. find some that work now an d after surgery from a Vitamin shop that will let you try before you buy. -
Have you talked to your surgeon yet? My doc said that over the years they have noticed some people can tolerate them post op and some can not. He said those that have been taking then for years are usually ok. He also said that as the years have gone on they have relaxed the rules a little bit because people have tried things and nothing has gone wrong. Please remember every doc is different and you need to follow your docs rules.

Welcome to the boards. You can expect to have more feelings and emotions you never thought you would. This is an awesome wild journey that we go through. I discovered things about myself that I did not know existed. Good luck on your journey and feel free to ask any questions! Ps - I assume by your user name that your husband is serving in the military and for that I would like to say thank you to you and him for your service. My family thanks you for your sacrifices for our freedom and way of life! -
Question about drinking
music1618 replied to manahane03's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
What kind of liquids are you talking about? If it is Water try either making it colder or making it warmer. I had to have my water ice cold after surgery. -
Well one of two things will happen 1. You take that extra bite and you throw up 2. You take the extra bite and your pouch hurts because you ate too much. I tell people it is like eating thanksgiving everyday. You know that over stuffed feeling you get after thanksgiving that is the feeling you get.

Is it possible to have pouch spasms?

Do you still have your gallbladder? -
Oh also look into latex allergies as well.
-
I have always been sensitive to adhesives and I have found just leaving it alone and not putting anything on it is the best thing for mine. However mine have never itched. Make sure the itching is not coming from your pain meds as that is a common side effect.

Yes, but I also want to run a 5k in December. For the acadmey I have to be able to run 1.5 miles in 19.9 minutes. I did my mile today in 10.36. I never liked to run, but I am enjoying it now.
-
Well it looks like the two of us had the same thought this morning. I got up and before I could talk myself out of it I went for a mile run. Felt great!! Are you training for anything?

Congrats on your weight loss so far. I am 13 months post op and have lost 117 so far. I have hit my personal goal weight. I found with this surgery all my dreams are now possible. I weigh a normal persons weight and can do ANYTHING I choose. The only thing holding me back now is myself, and sometimes I get in my way. However I will also take this time to say to you try not to focus on the number. I think sometimes we as rny patients get so involved in how much have I lost. It is understandable that is what everyone wants to know right. I did this to get healthy and take my life back. The number is nice, but I felt better about myself when I made a list of goals and when I hit one I cross it off my list and think of a new one. For example I wanted to play a full game of soccer without feeling exhausted afterwards. Well I hit that one and now I want to run a marathon. I never in a million years would think that I would want to run a marathon, but with this surgery all things are possible. So be proud of where you have come from and your future!!
