Tattoo's and Weight Loss
Sparklette replied to ElleG's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I've been looking for an answer to the same question. I have one tattoo on my lower leg. One person I asked, said it was like a shrinky-dink It shrank with the leg. And I was like, that's pretty cool. But another person said her's looks awful, I bet it is like loose skin, it depends on a bunch of different factors. -
And Ive been healing great! I've had no complications, no nausia, no nothing, it's been really weird actually.

I had my surgery April 25th, I was 470 on my date. I'm not sure how much I've lost so far, follow up is on wednesday, I'm so excited.

You will be alright.

Moms giving me cold feet

Reasons why I didn't chose lapband: I don't like the idea of having a foreign implement. I didn't like the idea of having the fills and maintenance I didn't like the risk that it could burst or slip. Reasons why I chose RNY Less of a chance of esophagus cancer. Dumping will keep me in check. Had the best history of success Better chance of weight loss. My recovery is still ongoing, but I feel great, I'm 10 days out, and I already feel as though I have more energy. I've had no nausea, I'm walking almost a mile a day, and I can already tell I'm losing weight. And At the point where you're considering weight loss surgery, all of them are MAJOR abdominal surgery and the recovery time will be about the same. Each procedure has it's pro's and con's, Do your research and decide what is best for YOU, not us, not your mother's friend, but YOU! Just remember that it is ultimately your decision in the end, Don't let anyone chose for you. -

I'm hoping and praying that since I'm young I won't have that much extra, But I am also really heavy...so I don't know. There's always plastics! Best of luck ladies.

Congrats, I wish you a speedy approval!

It'll hit you closer to surgery, or you may be the lucky few that don't have anxiety about this. lol.

I'm having some gas pain, but no, um, release of said gas, other than the occasional burp. I've been walking a lot, any other tips on getting rid of the pain?

You gotta make the tickers on the desktop site -
That time will go by in a breeze, I promise! Taking up swimming is a great idea! When I was waiting the last couple months before my surgery, I spent more time on here, getting info and what not. And took it day by day. It'll be here before you know it.

At the hospital the only thing I needed was chap stick and entertainment. Honestly. A pillow from home might have been nice, the stupid hospital bed made my back hurt. For home, Like SoccarMamma said, liquid, and Protein. some slip on shoes, if you intend on walking outside. Find a place where you can be comfortable, I couldn't sleep in my bed for the first couple of days, it was difficult to get in and even worse to get out. And it's true, everything does kinda fall in to place. If you have any questions feel free to ask!

It does contain sucrulose. But less than a splash for 16 oz. (I make mine in the morning and separate it in to four shakes after I mix it. ) it isnt enough to hurt or cause dumping.

So many questions, no one to ask!

I'm only a week out, So I'm still on liquids, I feel really left out right now, because I avoid the kitchen like the plague during mealtimes because the smell of food is difficult for me. And Dinner is our only "family time" But that should get better once I'm back on real food. -
I'm not sure if it does call ulcers. The reason we aren't allowed to have it is because it will hit our system really fast, and make us super drunk off of very little, and alcohol tends to be high in sugar and can cause dumping.

I have bcbs I didn't have to have weigh ins because my pcp had a record of my weight going back five years. Along with documentation that I was on supervised diets (ie weight watchers, neutrisystem etc) for 6 consecutive months -
I found some chocolate milk that is non-fat, 2g sugar, and 9g protein! And it tastes like real chocolate milk! Not like ick! I am super happy, I got it from Kroger, Kroger brand. It comes in 16 oz cartons, and it's 1 dollar. It is awesome for a little treat, that's still within the guidelines of full liquids. I'm not going to have it every day, just when I need that little bit of sweet. Made my day!

Try around with different things to add to the shake, I found some sugar free/fatfree coffee flavoring that I have been adding to mine, it's super tasty,, or try different protein powders.
