Surgery and a catheter
Sparklette replied to Yennydayerman's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was silently petrified of getting a catheter, I didn't want to say anything though. I woke up with out one, Although they were going to put one in if I didn't urinate within 6 hours after surgery. everything was fine though. -

how do you deal with emotions without food?
Sparklette replied to shawna29's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
The first post op month I had a lot of cravings. And a lot of emotional upheavals. I hat a lot of anxiety that made me want tp eat. It is hard when you have your vices taken away. I quit smoking in febuary and three months later I haf my food taken away as well. The first month id the hardest. You slowly learn to cope and have other outlets. When I feel anxious now I go for a walk or swim or take a nap or bubble bath. Its a struggle but it is worth it -
Good luck and Congratulations

Why no water with meals?
Sparklette replied to Pam Peltz's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I just know that I get nauseous if I drink too soon after eating. -
I am dumping on orange juice. Mighty unpleasant. What is the worst thing y'all have dumped on?

Jealous best friend :(
Sparklette replied to Crystalynn Alhashim's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My best friend is my number one cheer leader. We have been through everythib g together and we are not letting this dynamic change break us either. We talked about it before surgery what would happens when I get smaller. She said that I would be her new barbie doll and would take me shoping all the time. I am lucky enougj to not have a boyfriend to break up whith when I get attention. Lol -
What to do when you hit a stall?
Sparklette replied to katieannes's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Change up your diet/exercise routine. When your body gets set in to a steady metabolic rate, your losing slows. Add more Protein, or more exercise, vary your nutrition, check your Vitamins, consult with your doc. -
Eek. Thats not fun

Family is still suffering from complications of RNY
Sparklette replied to PiRatFamily's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
That's crazy, Even though it is an elective surgery, the surgeon did something wrong and needs to be held accountable. That's BS! It took one of my good friends three appeals to get approved for SSDI, she had back issues and couldn't get around with out pain. Just keep your head up, things will get better. -
You have to learn to read and understand your new body. There is a learning curve, I took about three weeks before I recognized the signs of being full.

Family is still suffering from complications of RNY
Sparklette replied to PiRatFamily's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
Wow, I'm so sorry about your family's situation. That's awful. Social security hates everyone, and nobody gets approved the first time. Have y'all taken any legal action against the surgeon? I know money won't make your husband's ailments to go away, but the surgeon needs to be held accountable. I wish you all the best. -
I would have had some words for that employee and the manager. That s rude. What if you were jist shopoing for someone else. It really isnt that idiots business. I would have words and then leave an never go back to that store.
-
It's really hard to get approved for SSDI the first time around. You need to appeal, sometimes more than once. Don't get discouraged, nearly everyone is denied the first time, Just keep trying.

Home from Colorado, It was great, and I'm pretty sure that I lost a few pounds while we were there.

So, I went shopping last night, and went down the coffee isle, for the smell. When I hit the creamer I found some flavoring syrup, with nothing in it, no calories, no sugar, no nada. It was in hazelnut, caramel, french vanilla, and another flavor that I don't remember. I got the hazelnut and this morning made a Protein shake, with my Protein powder, it's vanilla whey isolate with 60g of protein for 2 scoops, A table spoon of SF chocolate syrup, and A splash of the hazelnut flavoring, and it was AMAZING! It was super tasty and didn't have the protein aftertaste.

Depends on the person. Some people dont dump. Some people are able t have a small bit of cake.

In my WLS support group there are a bunch of ladies who have had the sleeve and are disappointed with their progress. I don't think I've actually met a person who has had the sleeve and have met their goal. Just throwing that out there. But if you are having second thoughts, and are not 100% committed to this lifestyle change, (because it is a huge change) then I would recommend holding off. Gastric Bypass has completely changed my life, I can honestly say that this is the best decision that I have ever made for myself. It's hard, don't get me wrong there are struggles all the time; but looking in the mirror, and seeing the subtle changes makes it all worth while. Imagining the future I can have, imagining the children I could have (I had pcos and it was next to impossible to carry a baby with the amount of weight I was carrying) makes all the struggles seem minuscule. This surgery isn't for everyone, and I hope you find what you're looking for. Best of luck on what ever you choose.

Hey y'all, My family and I are taking a road trip to Colorado next week. It's a 14 hour drive, what do y'all recommend food-wise for road tripping? I'm 2 months out, and can handle most things that aren't bready.
