The incentive spirometer works!!! Thats how I coughed all of that junk out of my lungs. My pulse ox was 93% the day of surgery and went up to 100% the next day just by using it!! -

Thank you so much....I use the New Whey Protein Shots 30ml=10grams of protein....its the only way I can get all my protein in. Since I have been using that to get my protein in, I have had tons of energy. -

The coughing could be from you being on a vent during the surgery. I still am coughing up lots of stuff. The first couple days home, I constantly coughed and didnt feel comfortable laying down flat until last night. -

Well my plan to go to the Christmas party without any pain medication today totally backfired on me. I had to leave the party after an hour in horrible horrible pain and Im finally comfortable. I think I over did it today. I walked well over 3 miles today, walked up and down the stairs, took a shower, and went to the party....think im going to take baby steps from now on!! -

Its probably doctor specific....my doctor has me wear mine most of the day and it helps the pain tremendously. My surgery was done laproscopic but I have an open incision almost 3 in long and that could be why my doctor wanted me to wear it....I love it so much. -

I am so happy, I only took 2 naps today. I just need to get some protein down. I have managed about 30g a day. Today Im trying for 40g, we will see how that goes lol. I have not needed any narcotic pain medication today and only took Tylenol twice today. I know its a small success but I feel like I have jumped a hurdle. Well getting ready to walk upstairs and take a shower, going to a Christmas party....wish me luck. You all are doing great!! Sometimes success comes in small increments. I am not weighing myself daily. I weighed the day after my surgery and going to weigh on Tuesday. (I did sneak on the scale and I lost 5lbs of water weight curiosity killed me lol) Praying for you all!! -

I gained almost 10lbs in water weight but my bladder didnt want to wake up so they kept giving me bolus's of fluid hoping that would wake it up but it didnt. Since they put the catheter back in me, I have had lots of urine output and I have almost lost all of my water weight. Usually they give lactated ringers before, during, and after surgery and it is bad about causing edema. I can tell a big difference in how much water weight I have lost because I have had to tighten my abdominal binder a couple times since yesterday. -

My doctor also gave me a abdominal binder and it helps sooooo much when walking, cough/deep breathing, and using my incentive spirometer. Walking helps so much!!! My doctor gave me a leg bag for my catheter so its not noticable while Im in the public. I slept 8 hours straight last night (oh it felt so good) I havent tried to conquer our stairs in our house...slept in our recliner but it was so much better than getting woke up all the time by vital signs and assessments!!! So glad Im home sweet home! Thinking of you all and keeping you in my prayers!! -

\I also had surgery on the 10th, yes it hurts so bad when you first wake up. They gave me Roxicet (liquid Percocet) and it isnt the best tating stuff...but it takes care of the pain. Abdominal surgery hurts, it really does, especially for women. I had 3 csections on top of this RNY and so far the csections are worse but this is no cake walk. I had to go home with a catheter for a week, and I have never had reactions to anesthesia like this before. I am going 8 hours in between doses of pain medication which is soooo much of an improvement. Hope you get to feeling better soon! -

How is everyone feeling tonight? Im a little tired and so glad to be home. -
Well I got home from the hospital today. I was so sick to my stomach the first day, they had to put me on a medication for nausea which had an adverse reaction of urinary retention. So I had to come home with a foley cath. Well Im going to get off of here....pain medicine kicked in. Praying for everyone to have a speedy recovery.
