Psych Eval...WAY too long, WAY WAY too long
Anyalee replied to MMS's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Wow- that is definitely a good example of why they SHOULD have the psych eval! -
Whats the biggest weight loss myth you have ever heard?
Anyalee replied to She Smiles's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I think my mother is finally starting to understand me. She said all she had to do to lose weight when she was younger was think "I want to lose weight." Now she has gone through menopause and is close to hypothyroidism. She works out all the time and eats pretty well and can't lose a pound! With Xenical- I had to wear a pad and I kept checking my seat at work to make sure there wasn't an oil slick. How embarassing! -
Psych Eval...WAY too long, WAY WAY too long

Does anybody else think it is really weird that you have to get a psych eval for this surgery? They don't make you get a psych eval for ANY other surgery- except maybe sex change. I can't even imagine the extreme depression that would result from getting denied by insurance! Like that poor black lady in Big Medicine who moved to Texas so she could get the surgery and then got denied! I wanted to pay for HER surgery (cept I'm totally broke). :cry -
Hi there! I have my first consultation on Wednesday. I am anxious to get this done and am wondering how long approval will take. The question I want to post here is: How long did it take for you to get approval from the first consultation to the day of surgery? Thanks!

New Poll: How long is this going to take?
Anyalee replied to Anyalee's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Thanks so much for your responses. I know what you mean about calling the Dr and they are booked up for years. I had to wait a month before I could even go for the consultation! I have my psych eval scheduled for Monday. They are going to do a pulse ox test at night and hopefully I won't need a sleep study! Ick! -

Eggs for breakfast and an occasional beer?
Anyalee replied to big chris's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I read that you can have an occasional glass of wine....I bet you could have a light beer but only if you shake it up and let it get flat first. But who would want that?? -
Congrats on your approval Nana!

Experience with Dr. Michael Johnell
Anyalee replied to MileHighGreen's topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
How long did you have to do food/exercise logs for? I'm wondering if I should start that now before my first visit? I have been searching out all of my medical records. I didn't have a PCP so I had to get them from 7 different doctors. -
Hm interesting question! I had not thought about this at all. I wonder if anybody's sig others have had adverse reactions to the weight loss?

Yes, keep me posted! Did you have to do a lot of grunt work to get stuff ready for your insurance, or was it mainly testing and things like that? What about a medically supervised diet? -

Are you above 40 now? I hadn't thought about that. I don't know if I have been about 40 for 5 years either... -
