    Freeeezing..what does it mean?

I'm freezing because I live in Wyoming and I never feel like turning on the pellet stove....and it's snowing! Seriously- I do feel a little colder since surgery.:rain:

    stomach sleepers

I'm a week out and I have been sleeping on my side with a pillow proped up against my belly. I really want to turn on my stomach...but I know it will hurt. I have to wait a little while longer I think!
  3. I live two hours away from where I had my surgery, so I stayed in town overnight anyway. The hospital had a onsite hotel that was only 15 dollars a night. I don't think I could have taken sitting in the car for 2 hours right after the surgery.
  4. I'm in the same boat. I'm making myself not drink more than 4 oz in 30 minutes, but gulping seems to be no problem. It does give me a little gas, but other than that doesn't hurt. I'm still trying not to do it- it only occasionally happens when I forget about the band.
  5. I'm not supposed to have more than 4 oz in 30 minutes....so I wouldn't worry about not being able to drink 8 oz at once!!

    December Surgery Dates

I got banded Thursday, and I am starting to get sick of the pain. I wish it was gone already so I could just get back to normal. The 6 week liquid/mushy diet is already starting to get boring, too! At least I love mashed potatoes. I have lost 28 pounds since the first appointment....yey! I'm almost in the 230's and haven't even had time to enjoy getting down to the 240s! AWESOME! :clap2: Pretty soon I won't even meet insurance qualifications for the surgery...
  7. I didn't see anybody posting this yet, but I think we need a name for ourselves....like Merry Bandsters- or something better than that....What do you think?

    help hiatal hernia

I just had my surgery Thursday. I had a small hernia that the doctor fixed before he put the band on, but the whole surgery still only took 50 minutes.

Having my band day in December :)

Hey momma! We are band sisters....good luck
  10. :wacko:I was not going to tell anyone, but then someone asked me why I was having surgery. I said "I'd rather not say." They looked down at my belly and said "does it have something to do with a band?" That's when I figured out I might as well tell everyone who will listen since it will hopefully be obvious after I lose a bunch of weight!!

    December Surgery Dates

Mine is tentative for the 13th! YEEEEEY!!!
  12. My out of pocket is 2500 a year. So that's how much I'll have to pay. I started this journey in July & my surgery date is Dec 13th. I haven't received any bills yet.....that'll be a scary day!

So let me ask you this...

I new it was time when my sister had her baby girl. I had been trying to get pregnant for a while too. I could get pregnant with medication if I wanted to, but the weight makes it an issue. Anyway, besides that my sister was addicted to heroin when she had her baby. I decided that having a baby when I am fat is so unhealthy that it comes close to being as bad as what my sister did. I called the doctor's office to set up an appointment the day after I held my niece in the drug addicted babies ward.
  14. Hi! I finally got a tentative date for the surgery Dec 13th as long as everything falls into place before then. I had to start wearing the CPAP at night but it doesn't seem to be working. I feel like I can't breath & then I get to a point when I think I'm going to pass out. After I get a headache I take the machine off and go to sleep without it. Anybody have any advice for me? I've only tried for two nights, but I have to wear this thing for 2 weeks before the surgery at least....HELP!:faint:
  15. Well, I got my insurance approval for surgery and I was all excited. Then, the Dr's office called me today and let me know that I am not approved because my psych consult result was that I have Major Depressive Disorder. They are requiring 3 months of counseling before the surgery now. That means that surgery will be next year and will cost twice as much since I'll have to pay my deductible twice. How lovely! Makes me so much less depressed to hear that great news...

    Want opinion on my pictures!!!

You look great! I think you should treat yourself to a new haircut to accentuate your lovely face!
  17. My brother in law was talking about a family member in front of my whole skinny husband's side of the family. He said, "you know Lisa, the big fat bitch." Later everyone apologized to me because he said fat when I was in the room- talk about embarassing, I hadn't even noticed! Now I know what his family is thinking when I'm around- what a fattie...
  18. I have this pulse ox to wear at night for a nocturnal study to see if I need a sleep study. Only problem is that I don't see how they expect this thing to stay on my finger? I woke up in the middle of the night and it had come off who knows when and the machine had shut off. Anybody else had this problem or have advice?
  19. Hi there- I will be an October bandster, too! I don't have my date yet but I have my preop class on Sept 24th. It was weird when they told me I was approved. I didn't expect the insurance to be so easy & it was almost anticlimactic. I am nervous, but not excited yet. I have to lose another 10 pounds before I get the surgery & I have some more tests to do so I don't want to get too excited in case something goes wrong!!! I don't want to jinx it!
  20. I'm glad to say that my insurance is going to cover the surgery! I thought I would have a horrible time getting approved- but it went through the first time in less than a month! OH CRAP! Now I actually have to lose another 10 pounds before surgery!:clap2::whoo:

    Would you or wouldn't you...

Hi! I just got insurance approval and I am not going to wait, because I already waited long enough to get this thing started. Lucky for me my family serves chicken soup at Thanksgiving and Christmas. I figure I will be so proud to show off my thinning body that I don't care about the dinner. I have absolutely NO qualms about doing it ASAP. If you put it off for holidays are you going to put it off again for some other event? Just do it! :clap2:
  22. It seems like you wouldn't want to go out during the first week after surgery from what I've been reading! Definitely go out B4! Hurry up and meet those parents!

    Devistated......sigh..........

Hey Julie! I have to lose 14 pounds before my surgery. You can do it- it would have been nice if the Dr had told you not to GAIN any weight!! I'm planing on doing a liquid diet for 2 weeks before my pre-op date. My Dr is very firm about me having to lose 14 pounds or else he WILL reschedule. That is very scary to me! Keep us updated on what is happening with you. I'm cheering for you!

    Embarrassed, ashamed, scared, HELP PLEASE!

Jennifer- I'm not banded yet, but have been reading these posts regularly while waiting for approval. It seems to me that if your band has slipped you would be feeling a lot of pain & not be able to eat anything. Good Luck!:clap2:
  25. My worst comment so far came from my mother-in-law. We were eating lunch together and talking about how I wanted to have kids soon. She told me to make sure that I didn't make my kids fat, too. Needless to say, I didn't rush out and get pregnant after that comment.:faint:
