Where are you losing your weight?

I think my boobs are shrinking....
  2. Hi! Thanks for everyone who answered. I wanted to put an update in case someone else has this problem and is worried. My period is completely over now...so I guess I just had an unusually heavy period on my own that took it's normal course and is over now. HOLY HECK! That's really awesome actually...my first period on my own in 9 years! I'll just hope that it comes again next month...isn't it weird to wish for your period????

    For those who have PCOS

Don't worry Apple- when you look back on this process after the band you won't believe it went so fast! I started mid July and didn't get banded until 3 weeks ago. As I was going into surgery I was thinking...whoa that was fast, wait a sec! Even though I had to do three months of "counseling" for binge eating- that is a bunch of BS I'll tell you! Breath deeply!

    help hiatal hernia

My doctor said that overeating after the band can cause a hiatal hernia. I had one fixed during the surgery and hope I don't get it again! It is hard with no restriction to eat tiny portions.
  5. How long did it take your bruises to go away? It's been two weeks and I still have mine. The worst one is where they put in the blood thinner shot & around the port incision.

Minutes away from getting my band

YEY! Good job & Good Luck! Have a chicken broth for me at midnight!

Is it too early? Please help.

Longhorn- where did you get that graph? I want to use that too! I love it...
  8. Thanks Aza- It's good to hear that this happened to someone else! I know it is because of my hormones. The only thing I am afraid of is getting anemic, but since I am taking bariatric vitamins with 100% iron I think I'll be ok. I think I've gotten spoiled by my PCOS and having extremely light periods for SO long. I haven't had to by tampons or pads or anything for like two years before this. I had period but they were so light I didn't need protection for them.

    Any Last Minute Advice.....

I'm not sure if you are a fertile female, but I wish they had let me know that the surgery can make you have your period & the blood thinner can make your period come on heavy in the operating room! It was a little embarassing to be cleaned up afterward!
  10. You are going to have the band for the rest of your life. It is not a big deal in the end if the surgery has to be postponed a week or two. I would call and ask the nurse at the office if it is okay or if you should postpone. Your health is the important thing here!
  11. I think I might be exagerating a little bit. This is definitely a heavier period than I've ever had, but it's hard to remember a normal period since I haven't had one in about 10 years. I'll have to wait a couple more days to call the gyno anyway- because of the holidays. Cross your fingers that it will let up a little by then. I have to go back to work on the 7th so I really want it to be at least under control within a week.
  12. Did you have it really heavy the whole 2 weeks Apple?

    Cpap

I hate hate HATE my CPAP. I swear it makes me stop breathing at night, because I get used to it doing the work for me. The sleep tech said I just needed "positional therapy" as I wasn't having any problems when I didn't sleep on my back. I never sleep on my back- but they made me do that for the sleep study. I can't wait until I don't need it anymore!
  14. I am only about 2 weeks out, but it is not so much a full feeling for me- but that I never have a "hungry" feeling. I haven't felt the hungry feeling yet & I hope that stays away for a long time!

    Taking a Bath?

I don't have any scabs? I have been sitting in the tub with it up to my hips but not near my scars. It's not a full bath, but it's still nice- especially with period cramps!

    Grocery list

My doctor told me not to worry too much about getting enough protein the first few weeks. The big thing was not to get dehydrated. I got addicted to caprisun drink pouches. My doctor also let me have jello during the clear stages (just no red jello before surgery), because they do a bum check and if they see anything red they freak out.:embarassed:
  17. HOLY CRAP! It hurt so bad....but only in one spot and only when I stood up or sat down. (Or tried to wipe after the bathroom). It's been two weeks and it doesn't hurt AT ALL. Feels like I didn't even have anything done, except I'm NEVER hungry & I've lost 13 pounds. It was very painfull when they made me get off the surgery bed and sit in the recovery chair. The pain got better every day. Practice using your arms and legs to lift you without using your belly muscles. They kept telling me to do that...but I was like how the **** do I do that? It was really painful, but they gave me pretty good pain medicine. However, if I was standing up or sitting down the pain cut right through. I also had a hiatal hernia repaired & I think that might have left a little pain that felt kind of like heartburn but was nothing compared to the belly stitch pain. The belly stich almost went away and then I twisted the wrong way. It hurt really bad for two days & then went completely away. No worries....two weeks goes by like wildfire! YEY!

Is it too early? Please help.

Don't worry about the surgery fear Justin. Before you know it the surgery will be OVER! Two weeks later, you'll feel like you didn't even have surgery. Only....you will have lost about 15 pounds. Don't worry about counting calories or exercising for the first month. You will be amazed at how the pounds fall off when you aren't even doing anything. Then, only after 6 weeks go by start worrying about other stuff like "working" hard. It'll be the best decision you ever made!!! Do it on Monday! Good luck.....!
  19. Hiya! I just took my steri strips off and the scars are looking good. I do have a dent in my stomach where they sewed in the port though. It is funny to look down and see the dent in my stomach on one side. Did anybody else have this exprience? I imagine that will go away as my belly fat melts off....:omg:

    Taking a Bath?

Holy crap! My port site hurt so bad for 10 days. Then I acidentally twisted the wrong way and it REALLY hurt for 2 more days. Now (15 days out) I feel just fine and only feel the port when I'm bending over to pick something up off the ground. Don't worry the pain passes eventually! YEY!
  21. It's only been two weeks for us, but my husband has totally changed his diet. He became a vegan when I got the surgery & he has already lost 10 pounds. I think he's competing with me to get to goal, too! Dang it!

    Female Question

I have been having my period forever because of hormone issues. I was having it when I had the surgery. When I came out, it looked like I had hemmoraged down there because of the blood thinner they gave me. It was a little embarassed being cleaned off...but they are nurses so I guess that's their job. Make sure they know so they can put a pad under you or something.
  23. Congrats! It's the best thing ever! In my lapband pre-class they said it still takes 20 minutes for your brain to get the message that you are full. I have been banded for 2 weeks & I haven't been hungry once...even when I haven't eaten for a few hours at a time...YEY!
  24. My Dr said that out of the 600+ surgeries he's done, he's had to revise the port placement twice because the people lost so much weight. Wouldn't that be the best surgery you ever needed? That's my goal!

    For those who have PCOS

I've been having my period FOREVER! I can't wait for another three weeks (a month after surgery) so I can get it to stop. It did start on its own for the first time in like 10 years though, so that's something to be greatful for. When I came out of surgery it was a real mess though. I guess all that blood thinner really works! Sorry to be icky! But that is something for people getting the surgery to know. It makes your period kick into high gear...
