Does it bother you when people ask"how much weight have you lost"?
Anyalee replied to ssh's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
One of the only people who asks me this regularly is another woman in the building who had the procedure done. Everytime I walk by she says Hi Skinny! It is great, it's almost like a little inside secret. She is a skinny minnie now, and she is showing her support that I'll be a skinny minnie soon, too! -
Please update me! Slow progress...but at least it's closer! 271.........199.........221...........22

I wanted lapband surgery for a long time but hesitated. Then my aunt had a heart attack, my sister had a baby, and my best friend died. It was enough to covnince me!

Poll: What really works for hair loss?
Anyalee posted a topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Hi everyone! I am at 3.5 months out & I'm starting to lose my hair. For those of you who had this same problem...what worked to get it over quickly & how long did it last for you? Thanks! -
I think I might have it a little bit backwards. When I was in high school 11 years ago I was a skinny minnie. No that I'm losing weight so fast, I feel like my old self. Everyone says oh you look so great let's take a picture. I feel good and skinny. Then when I look at the pic it's like a slap in the face- NOPE STILL FAT!

Whoa that was like reading a suspense novel. I'm so glad it had a happy ending! I'm proud of Yaz for sticking with it. I have to say though that I NEVER had buyer's remorse for my band. I had my first pb today & I as SO excited I wanted to tell everyone at work (of course they wouldn't have understood). I love my band & I think we shouldn't say that everyone regrets it at some point...I don't believe that's true.

Sorry this is gross....Is anybody else pooping more??

All that fat has to get out of the body somehow... -
What a rip off! They lured me into the store with their coupons and special sales & then when I went to the cash register- no discounts applied to what I was buying. I'll be d**ned if I'm going to pay 90 bucks for an outfit I'll wear for 2 months! I went down the street to Dress Barn & a similar outfit was $55! I feel like LB thinks that since we're fat we're either dumb or rich! What a bunch of bulldung!

whoops! I messed up my poll...
-
They're fine if they are on sale....full price is WAY too much!

I take little tiny bites of everything and chew chew chew now. I didn't start before the band, because I knew I would have to afterwards. I ordered a steak one time, but then I decided not to eat it because it was too dry. I haven't had any problems with anything yet really....but I think I'm just finally at a good restriction level today.

I've been shopping there for the last 8 fat years of my life...but this time it was just TOO frustrating! Their clothes don't fit me right anymore since I've been losing weight & it's nearly impossible to find clothes that do now! I finally found a good outfit & it didn't count in the discount. The discount signs this week say "Buy one get one 50% off eveything in the store" Then the little teeny tiny writing must say something about the "right fit" slacks not counting. I was going to get the right fit houston pants.....but NO dice! I couldn't use a coupon or get the in store discount. It makes me feel like they're taking advantage of us plump ladies!

H. Pylori - what is current treatment?
Anyalee replied to Lizalee's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had to take antibiotics for 2 weeks and antacids for 8 weeks. I am almost done. They started me on the treatment after 6 weeks after the surgery. My insurance made the medication pretty darn cheap. The antacid was a generic for prevacid that was WAY cheaper than the OTC. -
I feel this pressure in my throat like there's a walnut sitting in there or something (after eating). Is this what restriction feels like? I thought the band was lower and around the top of my stomach. This feels like it's inside my esophagus...any imput would be appreciated! Thanks!
-
You'll fall asleep eventually, and then you'll probably have to be on a CPAP machine for a couple weeks before you can have the surgery and until you lose a bunch of weight. Then you'll have to have another sleep study to get off the stupid thing! The sleep studies cost about 1000 dollars, so I hope you have insurance. (Can you tell that I hate the whole rigamarole?!)

Does restriction feel like a golf ball?
Anyalee replied to Anyalee's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Mine is really more like a tightness in my chest too. But I get it even when I haven't eaten anything. It is the most noticable around 5-6 in the evening before I eat dinner. I'm not sure if I'm really feeling this or if I'm making it up. Do other bandsters get this feeling? I don't think it's related to me being filled enough or not.:confused2: -
Does restriction feel like a golf ball?
Anyalee replied to Anyalee's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I get the same feeling around 6:00 every day. I'm trying to figure out if it is in my head or if it is really happening. What does restricition feel like? Is it a feeling or just a lack of hunger? -
Do you buy any clothes while your weight is transitioning down?
Anyalee replied to citygirl4616's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I've only gone down one size, so I don't want to buy anything until I go down another. A couple of my pants are unwearable, but I refuse to buy anything until I'm in a 14/16. I've started buying a few things in that size- to help me get to my next goal! It's a little depressing to think I've only gone down one size- but then again, yey! -
Is .5 CC to little of a fill for a 10 cc band?
Anyalee replied to aubrie's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
It sounds a little slow to me. My first 90 days of fills were free so I have had 4 and I'm going to get one more next week probably. I will be filled to 6 then. I know everyone is different...but if you don't feel much then you should ask your doctor for more aggressive fills. -
What is your Fill Level in a 10 cc AP Band?
Anyalee replied to Motocrossgirly's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I've had three fills & I am at 5cc now. Sounds like you need a new doc if he doesn't go over 4! That's sounds weird...is that really what he meant? I am feeling restriction and losing 1-2 pounds per week, but I think I will be getting one more fill at least. I'm trying to get in the green zone....almost there. -
Donuts are not worth it....what's your food that's not worth it???
Anyalee replied to blahblahblah's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Steak is no good for me. I haven't gotten stuck on that or anything else- but steak just doesn't taste good anymore after 30 chews and it's still chunky & dry....Ick! I spit it out without trying to swallow. -
That I didn't do it 5 years ago when I first started researching it!
-
You can probably handle it. You won't be 100 percent yet, but as long as you can rest whenever you need to it'll probably be alright. I took 3 weeks off of work personally & am glad I was able to. You will need to be extra careful not to sit still for too long- to avoid blood clots and whatnot. Get up and walk around every 30 minutes or so. Good Luck!

The first 10 days or so were terrible. I had to change the TV channel whenever a food ad came on, because it made me want the food SO bad. I got really sick of mashed potatoes and eggs by the end of the diet phase. I have to admit that I cheated a little bit but chewed my food until it was liquid before swallowing. I'm not suggesting to "cheat" I hope I didn't do my self any harm not completely following the dr's directions. Other than the head hunger though, I was lucky enough not to feel physical hunger- I haven't really felt physical hunger more than twice since the surgery. My body literally was like the Lion in the commericial telling me to EAT EAT YOU'RE HUNGRY EAT! After the surgery it's a mouse...my brain on the other hand still loves to eat. I'm getting to the point now where I have to make myself stop eating before the portion is gone because it won't go down anymore. Don't worry so much about the post op diet- it is difficult but over in NO time. Good Luck!

I just noticed I'm making the best complaint ever!
Anyalee posted a topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I just got off my scale and realized that I am upset that I'm only losing about 1 pound a week. HAHA! I love that complaint. To think that before this I was lucky not to gain one pound a week- forget about losing it! Anyone else notice this complaint of themselves? I love my band!!
