Hi everyone! I just got my date today - June 13th! I thought I would be more excited when I finally got a date, but in actuality I'm scared. I just feel like crying right now. I know it's just my nerves, but it's a bit unexpected. Anyway, I'll be beginning my Atkins diet on May 30th. How do I get a ticker on my posts?

Pre-op...too much protein? constipation?
bjroberts417 posted a topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi all. I am still pre-op, waiting on the insurance approval. In the past couple months, I've been trying to make changes in my diet so the transition post-op won't be so hard. Mainly, I've paid closer attention to my Protein intake and cut out (almost) all sweets and sodas. Typically I have only one traditional meal each day (lunch) and for Breakfast I have a Protein Shake and dinner another shake or greek yogurt...something super light. I feel great...EXCEPT that over the past 2 months I've been constipated more times than I have in my whole entire life. Have any of you experienced this? Is it possible that I'm getting too much protein? Or is it something I've cut out of my diet that's messing me up? Thanks guys! Bettina -
Holy crap! I am approved!

All evals done! Insurance submission!
bjroberts417 posted a topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
...just waiting for insurance approval now. My surgeon is very confident that I'll get my approval. I hope he's right. He also said based on my evals and med history that the surgery should be pretty much smooth sailing. Thank God for his confidence. :-). Say a prayer that my insurance approves QUICKLY!!! -

Merina pre-op and periods post op?
bjroberts417 replied to douchewafflebear's topic in The Gals' Room
I'm still pre-op and I just had my IUD implanted about a month ago. I had light spotting almost every other day, and now I'm on my first official period since it was inserted. No pain at all, and the bleeding is much lighter than before. So I'm pretty happy with it so far. -
I'm in Littleton...teeny tiny town in the eastern part of the state. Closest "city" would be Rocky Mount. Anyone going to Nash Surgical Weight Loss Center?

Isn't it great the little things you notice?
bjroberts417 replied to soontobehealthymom's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Here's something weird that I look forward to - I want to be able to not take up an entire seat when I sit down. I want to look small in a seat, as opposed to the seat looking too small for me. :-) -
Hello Everyone!

What Is Your Ideal Size?
bjroberts417 replied to dejaseana's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have always wanted to get to a 14, since I've been bigger than that all my adult life. But I wouldn't mind being smaller. I'm curvy, and I worry about looking crazy if I lose too much. :-) Sent from my iPad using RNYTalk -
Hi all! I have met another little milestone here at the beginning of my journey. I went to my PCP yesterday, prepared to defend my decision to have WLS, but it turns out that I didn't have to! She totally agrees with me, after discussing my family history and my own history of yo-yo dieting. She said she would refer me right then if it weren't for all the hoops we have to jump through for the insurance company. So my 6-month medically supervised diet starts today! One step closer to my goal - a healthier, thinner me!

I Feel Trapped... (Psycho Vent, Sorry)
bjroberts417 posted a topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Hello all. I have been feeling a certain way lately, and I thought I'd post it here to see if anyone else feels like this or understands... I feel trapped by food. It's a feeling I've just started feeling in the past few weeks or months. I am seriously just tired of eating. But if I don't eat, I of course would get sick. I start to feel like crap, headache, shakes, all that good stuff. So I have to eat. But if I try to eat healthy, a salad or something light, I don't get full. So when I'm cutting back, I still feel sick. Headache, etc. So I just try to stave off the sick feeling by eating a generous meal. No, typically it's not healthy, nor is it light. And what happens after I eat that? You guessed it...I feel sick. I literally have headaches almost everyday of the week. Not to mention stomach upset because I'm eating the wrong things. So that makes me not want to eat, which of course, leads me back to the beginning. This is one of the MAIN reasons I want to have this surgery. I want to eat less, but I also want to avoid feeling hungry. I know that RNY is the right procedure for me, because it will allow me to do both. And the idea of a liquid diet is really appealing. To be able to kick food to the curb for any period of time seems like an awesome idea. Anyway, if I sound crazy, please excuse me. I just really needed to get this out. Bettina -

Hello everyone. My name is Bettina. I am 32 years old, a wife and mother of two. I have been big my entire life...and I'm just tired. There's really no other way to put it. Believe it or not, I'm tired of eating. Seems like my existence revolves around food, and I need to break that cycle. I'm actually looking forward to the liquid diet part...is that weird? LOL. I've only just begun the process for surgery, but my mind is made up. I am just waiting for my insurance coverage to begin so I can start my doctor supervised diet for 6 months. I do have a couple questions...has anyone ever lost so much weight during the supervised diet that you were no longer a candidate for the surgery? Has anyone lost too much weight? I'm afraid of being too small...I would like to keep some of the curves. LOL Thanks everyone. Good luck to you all! Bettina

What If I Lose Too Much Weight Pre-Op?
bjroberts417 replied to cookier224's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
That makes sense. I'll just check with my PCP to make sure. Thanks! -
I'm in Littleton...right near VA border in the eastern part of the state. Near Roanoke Rapids and Rocky Mount...they're slightly bigger so maybe you've heard of them. I'm glad to have some "neighbors" to chat with. :-) Sent from my iPad using RNYTalk
