I swallowed gum once and the doc said to drink milk of magnesia. But I would call him before taking anything.

    I Am Thinking

Well i would start by buying or checking out the book weight loss surgery for dummies it is a great book full of information. Also your surgeon an or hospital should give u a guide of what to expect and what you will or will not be able to eat. And finally believe me after surgery even if you wanted to u can not over eat! Now it is difficult because u so not have the tool once you do then it really is your mind set that meeds to change. That is why the best thing is to research and read as much as u can behore hand!

    Mindless Eating And Mindfull Solutions!

Hey DL I have been post op for 8 yrs & sometimes I refrain from sharing my experiences because for some, the bad and ugly is not acceptable. I have had a great run but for the past 2 yrs have struggled, some due to lack of discipline & some due to a dialated anastamosis. I will be having a revision on August 20th & have joined this group to hopefully learn new things from great people like you that always have good, sound and positive advice!

    Drinking?

I would ask your doctor, I know the timeline is somewhere between 6 months to a year. I am 8 yrs post op & I would definitely caution you on the margaritas as early on they can cause you to dump, also to this day I cannot drink beer because of the bubbles. I have gained weight the past two years & I attribute some of this to too many margaritas so keep this in mind! Just food for thought...

    Complications

When I had mine I had complications breathing on my own and had to be intubated. Spent 24 hrs in ICU and then everything else was okay. My long term complication is that I am severly anemic, but in my eyes a small price to pay for everything I have gained (no pun intended), Lol!
