I am very thankful for being healthy post op and other than a few ulcers I feel pretty swell. I think I'm going to be a little bad today since it's a holiday. I want a small bite of mashed potatoes, stuffing, sweet potatoes, and cranberries. I know some people are approved for starches but my surgeon says no. I just want enough to taste it. Hopefully I won't be sick. On Halloween I had .25 of a fun size almond joy and .25 of a Reese's cup and I was okay and didn't want to cry anymore lol. Obviously candy isn't even an option for the other 364 days a year. I think if you give yourself a little treat on special occasions is okay as long as you don't splurge and are okay the rest of the time. I think it keeps people from eating badly often. Idk maybe it's just me. Happy turkey day everyone! - Kaylee Ann ~ Surgerversary 6/11/2012

Artificial Sweeteners Now Nasty?
Lebim replied to tstark's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Since we don't eat crap anymore, everything, sugar/sweetness especially, is amplified. That's why artificial sweetener probably tastes like chemically and overly sweet to you. Am I right? Try stevia maybe - Kaylee Ann ~ Surgerversary 6/11/2012 -

Yeah it seems that none of the surgeons tell patients that they'll initially be able to eat more than they eventually will. - Kaylee Ann ~ Surgerversary 6/11/2012

Many people, myself included, cannot have milk. Any more than 4oz and I'm sick - Kaylee Ann ~ Surgerversary 6/11/2012

Do you just eat them as is or do you add some sort of sauce like mayo? How many oz in a can? Can you eat the whole thing in one sitting? - Kaylee Ann ~ Surgerversary 6/11/2012

Yes it is absolutely too much. You should not be eating more than 2 oz at a time, do NOT make this a habit or you'll stretch your pouch. The reason you did not feel full immediately is because most of your nerves in the stomach are inactive due to surgery. You will not feel your pouch tell you to stop eating for about 2 months and then you'll find that you won't be able to eat nearly as much because all of your nerve endings have "woken up." This is a normal thing that many people have not been told by their surgeons for some reason - Kaylee Ann ~ Surgerversary 6/11/2012

I've heard of people dumping for a long period of time. First of all you shouldn't even be eating bread, so I definitely think you made yourself dump and then took you awhile to recover. - Kaylee Ann ~ Surgerversary 6/11/2012

I have a hot sauce I use on pork chops and I eat spicy pepper jack cheese and I've never had a problem - Kaylee Ann ~ Surgerversary 6/11/2012

Uh I would have been thrilled to hear that. I think you're being way too sensitive. We all had this surgery to lose 100+ lbs, obviously you were pretty big if youre on here, it's a good thing. - Kaylee Ann ~ Surgerversary 6/11/2012

Dude I think this happens to me. When I dump I get crazy tired and I'm usually in bed and next thing I know it's morning. I think I'm actually passing out - Kaylee Ann ~ Surgerversary 6/11/2012

I didn't think it was possible but I actually found a Protein shake mix that isn't expensive, doesn't taste like shit, and has a lot of protein!! I made it in a 12oz Blender Bottle (bought at the Vitamin shoppe but you can get it anywhere) and I mixed the chocolate flavor with only 1/2 a table spoon of Peanut Butter and 6 oz of milk and the rest with Water. I shit you not it actually sort of tastes like a Reese's . I'm so happy! I got the protein mix from the Vitamin Shoppe for 26 dollars which was the cheapest I could find honestly. It makes about 12 shakes so it comes out to 2 dollars a shake which unfortunately is the cheapest I've found - Kaylee Ann ~ Surgerversary 6/11/2012

I used the ecig "finity" from Walgreens (my fav brand) and after month or so it made me sick one night and I just didn't want it anymore. Without the patch and ecig I would have never been successful - Kaylee Ann ~ Surgerversary 6/11/2012

I begged them to take out my gal bladder but they wouldn't, I think it should be required since so many people have problems after - Kaylee Ann ~ Surgerversary 6/11/2012 -
