Who's drinking milk? My RN and surgeon believe that after RNY that people become lactose intolerant, but my nutritionist disagrees. I've been adding 8oz of 1% milk to my Protein shakes and have been ok but when I made a Protein shake with only milk I got nauseous (but I did drink too fast as well). My nutritionist said I could have skim or 1% but I've been bad when I get a latte and get 2% because we don't have 1% at starbucks (where i work) and skim is gross with espresso ;/ - Kaylee Ann ~ Surgerversary: 6/11/12

I had chosen the sleeve but my insurance wouldn't cover so I had to have the bypass but honestly I'm happier that I had the bypass because it has a higher success rate and is more restrictive and I need that to be successful - Kaylee Ann ~ Surgerversary: 6/11/12

Things You Don't Have To Worry About When Your Not Fat

When I sit down on a surface or chair and I hit that surface hard enough that it makes a sound I say "ouch" so it seems more like I fell versus my body being so huge that furniture makes noises when I sit... I'll be happy to no longer do that - Kaylee Ann ~ Surgerversary: 6/11/12 -
Everyone told me that I wouldn't experience hunger right out of surgery and would basically have to force feed myself... but I'm experiencing the complete opposite... every few hours I'm STARVING and this scares me because I don't want to get back into old habits ;/ - Kaylee Ann ~ Surgerversary: 6/11/12

I also was told "oh after a few bites of food you'll be full" and "you can only eat 2oz of food before feeling stuffed" and this also isn't so... I can eat more than 2oz without being full... for that matter I almost never feel full, just no longer starving - Kaylee Ann ~ Surgerversary: 6/11/12

Other than being the only person to get a horrendous incision infection from my surgeon I guess I'm doing all right. Very wary since I'm so newly out - Kaylee Ann ~ Surgerversary: 6/11/12

Rofl my surgeon told me I'd never eat bread, rice, or Pasta again. Carbs are also what got me here - Kaylee Ann ~ Surgerversary: 6/11/12

Nothing like people who judge you for getting the surgery and think less of you for it because it's the "easy way out". I love those who I told I was getting surgery and they say "oh that surgery is so unhealthy, just work out and eat healthy!" work out and eat healthy you say? What is this black magic you speak of? I've never heard of that and certainly haven't tried it, Cookies are good for you aren't they? Fucking morons. - Kaylee Ann ~ Surgerversary: 6/11/12 -
I'm 20 too and am really happy I had mine done so young. Good luck! - Kaylee Ann ~ Surgerversary: 6/11/12

Just realize that it is a life changing surgery and needs a lot of devotion on your end to be successful. The second you believe it's an effortless "quick fix" you will be bound to fail. Learn as much as possible about your surgery. You'll be so happy :] - Kaylee Ann ~ Surgerversary: 6/11/12

One of my incisions (the left side and the largest incision where the most work was done) is now red and swollen around it. Granted my boyfriend ended up leaning on my stomach around there with his elbow a few days ago, but I'm terrified that's unrelated and something terrible is happening and I'll have to go back into surgery. I'm 11 days out and the area is swollen, red and warm and hurts (also sensitive to touch) and I've had a low grade fever on and off for 3 days - Kaylee Ann

Help! I Need Advice, Guys! I Had A Lap To Rny Conversion On Wednesday:
Lebim replied to Sdothue's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
I had my RNY performed 6/11/12 and also have a concave incision on my left side that is my most painful incision. My surgeon told me the reason it is concave and hurts so bad is he basically tied the muscles together which enables safer healing, but more painful. I went in at 5'8" 263lbs and am sure that the smaller we get the less noticeable that sink hole will be, and my brother (went from 360 to 170) said that his incision scars that used to be 4" long now look like 1/2" cat scratches. Don't forget - you will be a lot sexier with scars than fat - Kaylee Ann
