Let's Talk Constipation!
Baker_gurl replied to PhotoChic's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
This is what I discovered works for me: Prunes! I only eat about a serving and it has helped regulate my system. I was trying colace, and that helped, but wasn't working very well. I was having very bad problems and since I've been eating a serving of prunes a day, constipation isn't an issue anymore. This may not work for everyone, but it helped me when medicine didn't work. Hope it helps you! -
Thanks everyone! It does feel great to be out of the 300's! I had my surgery on 8/27. My weight loss has been a little slow, but I have to remember that it is so much better than when I tried to do this on my own! I can't wait to hit one-derland! I haven't been there since probably 5th grade!

100Lbs Gone Never Looking Back!
Baker_gurl replied to JustJenn's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
So happy for you Jenn!!! You are doing so well and are a great encouragement to me!! I'm really proud of you! -
I really like the My Fitness Coach (1) for Wii. The workouts are very customized. You get to pick the type of workout, time, intensity, etc. There is a lady who coaches you along. During the workout, it will ask if the workout is too easy, just right or too hard and update the intensity from there.

Its Not Fun To Eat Anymore
Baker_gurl replied to roxyraquel's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I think at one point or another, everyone comes to that realization. I'm so thankful for this surgery! Food and hunger used to dominate my life! Now, I've become more mindful of what I'm eating. I've had to search for fulfillment outside of food and discovered my love for swimming and water aerobics. It is fantastic! -
Congrats Jenn! It sounds like you have everything you need to be successful! Having a workout buddy and a personal trainer is a great way to stay accountable! Please don't feel intimidated or weird at the gym. I did my first few months and that kept me out of classes that I now love. You are doing a positive thing and other people recognize that and respect you for it! Enjoy your new membership!

Can't Get All My Protein In
Baker_gurl replied to Lebim's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The unjury is unflavored, but it does have a specific taste. I have found that it works best for me in savory foods. It improves the flavor of soups and other savory foods. I tried it in crystal light and the taste was very prominent and unappealing. I really liked the sample of Unjury Chicken Broth I ate. I would recommend it! Just make absolutely sure to check the water temp with a thermometer before you add the protein! -
Friday Weigh-In!
Baker_gurl replied to KevinsBabyGirl85's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
This morning I weighed 301.6. I'm thisclose to being out of the 300's!!! I can't wait to be in the 200's again! It has been probably 8 years since I've been there! -
I started taking water aerobics classes this week at the Y. I was really surprised. It was a great workout! The class is an hour long and we use these water weights that provide a lot of resistance! I had always brushed off water aerobics as too simple, but it was a fantastic workout! My YMCA location even offers aqua zumba! Has anyone else tried water aerobics?

You both should definitely try it out when you are able! The hour flew by and I really enjoyed the class. I'm going to be working this into my new gym routine now!

Bowel Problems, I Need Advice Please
Baker_gurl replied to theby_88's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Kristy, What section did you find this in at walmart? I didn't know if it would be in the tea section or at the pharmacy. -
Stay strong!!! I have been having to stop myself lately when I have a craving and ask myself, am I actually hungry or is this just because I'm tired or thirsty. I also have to ask myself will this food get me closer to my goal of weight loss or will it hurt me? Before surgery, I didn't think before I ate. If I wanted it, I just grabbed it. It was so mindless. I'm so happy for this new lifestyle and mindset!

Right Place @ The Right Time.
Baker_gurl replied to babygirl901's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
When I started my job last year, my boss was in the process of getting approval. She helped me with all the paper work and I was able to preview the whole process through her experience beforehand. We ended up having surgery a little over a month apart and now we trade recipes/products. It was nice to have someone in the same boat as you at work. -
I'm trying to fit exercise in before I go to work in the morning. I find that it goes much smoother if I get as much prepared the night before as possible (lunch, gym bag packed, etc). My biggest morning struggle is just getting out of bed and dressed so I can exercise. Once I'm at in the car, my motivation kicks in.

At our gym, they even offer aqua zumba! I saw they are offering Zumba Glow which utilizes black lights and bright clothing/glow sticks!

Thank you! I can identify with this woman!! This is me!! I feel so out of place at the gym. I never thought of it this way. Thank you for this change of perspective!

Anyone Else Doing This 'alone' In One Way Or Another?
Baker_gurl replied to worm2872's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I went to all of my pre surgery appointments alone. I wish my husband could have been to some of the nutrition classes so he could understand the parameters of my new diet. He keeps offering me things I can't have. He's not being mean, but he doesn't remember or just doesn't know that certain things are off limits now. During my surgery and on my one week post op appt, my mom was there with me since I couldn't drive. -
Thank you PaulB for the news! I will have to check out my GNC! I just ordered a case from Vitacost, but I would like to stock up if they're on sale at GNC.

Eating out post op has been such an eye opener. I am just astounded at the oversize portions that I used to think was normal pre op. It makes me understand just how distorted was my view of portion size. I'm thankful to be relearning how to eat the correct portion and now I actually check out the nutrition label to see how beneficial the food is that I am eating/planning to eat. Why didn't I pay attention to this sooner!

Thank you for the review link! I've wondered how the other flavors measured up since I've only had the Chocolate Peanut Butter. It is delicious by the way, especially when warmed in the microwave!
-
I really like Optimum Nutrition Chocolate Mint protein powder. It has a very smooth consistency and a natural chocolate flavor. I am looking for recommendations for a vanilla protein powder. I tried Pure Protein's Creamy vanilla and it was disgusting. It tasted very artificial.

Yes!! I have had very realistic, vivid dreams since surgery! Sometimes, I wake up, just exhausted because my dreams are so emotional and action packed. My brain just isn't able to rest during sleep because it is over stimulated.
-
I have been in that situation! My friends wanted to stop at Mcdonald's and all I could have at the time was a milk with a pouch of protein powder! Awkward!!
-
I just made some tuna salad for lunch today. I cut cucumber slices to serve in place as crackers. I'm trying to get those veggies in for a little balance in my diet!
-
Yum! My GNC store only had the PB choc and Coconut cashew. I wondered if the Cinnamon roll was good. I'll check out the quest site. I liked them on FB too. I had a pure protein bar yesterday and it was disgusting and chalky! Quest bars are the way to go!! Thank you to both of you!
