Worst comment you've heard so far

Gosh, I'd love to be a size 12! I'm sorry she said that! Maybe she was crabby from starving herself? -
I get a lot of my plus size clothes from Cato.

I was at a Christmas party a few weeks ago and my friend's mom said to me "Hey, you see that girl over there? She had WLS last year. She used to be HHHUUUUGGGGEEEE!" Then it occurred to me, is that how people are going to be describing my transformation in a few years? Why do people think that just because we lost some weight that it gives them free license to comment on our former selves in such derogatory ways? That girl who used to be 350 is still me. I still have a long way to go and I want encouragement to excel, not fuel to feel bad about who I used to be/still am. -
I'm hoping to try it in a few weeks! My gym only offers it Tuesday/Thursday at 10:15. I've got time off after Chrstmas, so I'm hoping to try the class out. I love regular zumba!

Wow! I have had a person tell me "I'm so glad you had that surgery because you were just huge!" Its surprising how people treat me now that I've had surgery. It's like they're ok with me now that I'm losing weight. My best friend is about the same size as me when I started the process and her grandparents are pressuring me to talk her into surgery. I've told them it's her decision and that I can tell her about my experiences and I'll be there to support her through the process if she chooses this, but ultimately, it's up to her. -
Hi, I wanted to share a new daily vitamin that I received from my nutritionist. It is from ProCare Health and is called Bariatric Chewable One-a-Day. I used to use Opurity and am going to switch to these once mine run out. They are smaller than Opurity vitamins and are $10 for a month's supply. Here is the website: http://www.procarenow.com/Chewable-One-A-Day-Bariatric-Multi-Vitamin--30-ct_p_10002.html

New 1 A Day Bariatric Vitamin!
Baker_gurl replied to Baker_gurl's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I've tried both opurity and these. The opurity Vitamins are large, hard to chew and have a strong taste. These new vitamins from ProCare are about 1/2 the size of opurity. They do have a stronger Vitamin taste and smell than opurity. Since they are small and softer, they are chewed and swallowed quickly. I prefer them to the unjury opurity brand. I would recommend Optimum Nutrition brand Protein shakes. I can just taste the flavor (chocolate mint, double rich chocolate, etc) and don't notice any whey aftertaste. The shakes also mix very well by spoon and create a smooth shake. There are a myriad of flavors to choose from. I order mine from vitacost.com, but I believe you can get it at GNC, vitamin shop or many other places online. I had been using the pure Protein powder, but tried the O.N. brand and made the switch. -
New 1 A Day Bariatric Vitamin!
Baker_gurl replied to Baker_gurl's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You're welcome Peachee! Wow! 5 chewables a day! You're right, as with most vitamins, you'll have to take a calcium supplement. It is nice to only take one a day and they are smaller than the O'purity vitamins and slightly cheaper. They do have a stronger vitamin taste than o'purity vitamins, but it's not bad. -
I've lost just about 60 pounds. I didn't really see much of a difference, but this week, I've had a lot of people start to comment that I looked like I've lost weight! :D It really makes me feel good to finally be successful at weight loss! I used to struggle to lose 10 pounds and keep it off before surgery! I am so thankful!

There are so many thoughts that swirl through our heads before surgery. Please try to focus on the reasons why you are having surgery. I freaked myself out the day of surgery and now I realize how much overreacted! The surgery went well, and everything is going as planned. I think we all have this feeling of what if we're the exception? What if it doesn't work? Everyone's bodies react differently, which we can't control, but if we focus on the stuff we can control such as what we eat and exercise, we will be successful!

People Are Starting To Notice!
Baker_gurl replied to Baker_gurl's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am about 13 weeks post op. I can relate to this! For so long, I was treated like I was invisible. Now people are starting to notice the weight loss. I need to just enjoy the compliments because I have worked hard to get here! I don't mean become narcissistic, but take credit for the accomplishment. I'm finally making healthy choices and it's paying off. -
Success Did Not Come Easy....
Baker_gurl replied to longercurlz's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Wow! What an inspiration! I need to lose 200 pounds total as well. I don't often find people who need to lose that amount or have lost it. Thank you for being real and honest about what it took you to lose it. It gives me the motivation to get in gear and add more exercise to my day. I need to stop making excuses and start sacrificing to get the results I want! Thank you! -
Congratulations!! I hit that milestone a few weeks ago and it feels so good! It looks like you have lost a lot of weight since surgery! Great job!!!

Anyone Not Dump?
Baker_gurl replied to hajones5891's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I haven't had any dumping issues. I was surprised since I hoped it would keep me accountable. I just have to make sure to hold myself accountable and change my habits so I don't get back to where I started! -
Wht Did You Lose In Your First 2 To 3 Weeks

I lost about 20 pounds in the first 2 weeks, but then it slowed down. -
New 1 A Day Bariatric Vitamin!
Baker_gurl replied to Baker_gurl's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Nope, They are the chewable tablets. They are just a little smaller than a dime in diameter. -
I completely agree!! I tried a watermelon protein shot and could only take one sip. They are so sour and pungent! Maybe there are other brands that are better, but the one I tried was terrible!
-
I really like the Optimum Nutrition brand. It uses Whey Isolate. They offer multiple variations on flavors and taste fantastic! They blend in well by spoon. There is no whey aftertaste. I have tried the Mint Chocolate and Double rich chocolate. I order mine through vitacost.com , but they are available through other stores/sites.

Clothing Size Wishes
Baker_gurl replied to michelecaples's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I started out at Size 28/30 bottoms and 4-5 XL tops. I am wearing about 24/26 bottoms now and 2XL tops. I would love to be a size 8/10. That would be my goal and dream size! I honestly never remember being that size! I was probably in early Middle school! -
Irritated When Other People Eat
Baker_gurl replied to kimmyk's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It does get better! Those first 6 weeks are tough! I felt so out of place bringing a protein shake to a pizza party, but just keep focused on your goal. I've found that there are choices when going out to eat, I just need to be creative. I would get upset too when my mom or husband were eating ice cream or BBQ, until I stopped and thought about how I would eat those things in excess and it was killing me! -
3 Months Out And 50 Lbs Thinner! :)
Baker_gurl replied to cmarie317's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Congratulations! It feels so good! Keep it up and you'll reach your goal! -
Today, I am officially out of the 300's! I haven't seen a 200 number on the scale in about 8 years! I can't tell you how excited I am!! I've lost about 52 pounds now and I can't wait to see that number go up. For so long, I have identified myself with being 300+. It is no longer a part of my present and as long as I work hard, it will not have a place in my future! I am so thankful for this surgery. I can have a chance at having a positive future now!

Just keep working hard ladies and be extra careful this holiday season. We will meet our goals! It's only going to get better from here!
