What to take when feeling sick
Baker_gurl replied to snow25's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I took the Alka Seltzer Plus gel caps. They don't contain NSAIDS. They work well! -
New to My Fitness Pal (MFP) Add me, and what's your username?
Baker_gurl replied to Cecilia's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I really like MFP! It was my wake up call about what I was eating! I would think "Oh, I did pretty well today" and then I entered it into MFP and was shocked! It helps me make better choices now and keep track of my nutrition levels. It is also nice to use when I'm eating out. I can look up various entrees and make the best decision. My name is emoesque23 -
Hi All!, As I am nearing the 100 pound weight loss mark, I was wondering have any of you done something special to celebrate your weight loss milestones? I still have a long way to go until my goal weight of 150, but I want to do something meaningful to celebrate the fact that I will have lost 100 pounds. Thanks for the help!

Weight loss celebration ideas
Baker_gurl replied to Baker_gurl's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
That sounds great! I'll have to check to see if my hospital has anything like that. Does anyone set rewards for weight loss goals met? I was thinking of checking out my area for local hiking trails to celebrate or maybe a getting a pedicure after the hike? -
All in one vitamins
Baker_gurl replied to Sheddingtummy's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm with Nicole K! I switched over from O'purity to the Bariatric Chewable from Procare now. I love that I only have to take one multivitamin, plus calcium and b12. It's small and easily chewable! -
Hey everybody, Can you recommend any fun/current blogs from people who have had gastric bypass or who have a large amount of weight to lose? I know of a few. Here they are: http://www.beautyandthebypass.com/ http://skinnyemmie.com/ (weight loss) I started writing in a blog last week about my experience and am planning on updating regularly: http://newlifeforemmy.blogspot.com/ Thanks!

Something to remember when the going gets tough
Baker_gurl replied to Cecilia's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thank you! I remember seeing this in the Pre-op info sessions at the hospital, but forgot about it until now. This is helpful to show others! -
Whats was the First thing.....
Baker_gurl replied to libra_lisa's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I noticed a change in my legs first. All my skirts seemed to be flowy and then I realized that I must have lost weight in my thighs. I first noticed that about a week and a half out of surgery. -
Any August 27 2012 surgery dates
Baker_gurl replied to nina23's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have the same problem. I can eat just about anything, so I have to be very careful and try to keep disciplined. Sugar doesn't really affect me like I thought it would. I've got a big sweet tooth, so I just have to keep it out of the house and avoid it as much as possible  , which is hard this time of year, lol! -
My hospital has two surgeons. With my surgeon, I had to gradually go through phases of liquids, soft foods and then pureed foods at week 3. With the other surgeon, she let her patients start on pureed foods about a week after surgery. There is a huge difference in opinions of surgeons. My boss had one surgeon and I had the other. We both did fine recovering. I have happily discovered that eating some grapefruit segments with splenda or stevia seems to be helping my weight loss!

Any August 27 2012 surgery dates
Baker_gurl replied to nina23's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
My surgery date was on August 27th, 2012. I'm doing pretty well. I'm really thankful for a fairly smooth journey so far. I'm down 84 pounds. I slacked a little a few months ago, but I'm working out 6 days a week now. It's really hard, but I know it will pay off since I have about 116 pounds to go! I'm really hoping to lose 100 pounds by my 6 month appointment! -
I have used them pre-op. I added them to a chocolate soy milk with a scoop of protein. It turned to a pudding like consistency. I really like it. I want to try it with coconut milk and chocolate protein powder. Check out pinterest for lots of ideas!

I made this last week. It was pretty good. It was like a little bit tangy, so I added some honey. My greek yogurt was plain and tasted like sour cream, but if you used a flavored one, it would be even better! I liked the mix of coconut and mini chocolate chips.

I saw this on pinterest from the blog Undressed Skeleton. She said it has 45 g of Protein. This could be split into 2 portions. chocolate PB frozen greek yogurt Dessert 1 Tbsp Whey Protein 6 oz Plain Greek Yogurt 1/2 Tbsp Dark Chocolate Chunks or mini chocolate chips (optional) 1 Tsp Organic Cocoa Powder 1 Tbsp PB2 Powdered Peanut Butter 1 Tsp Raw Unsweetened Coconut Mix all together in a bowl and freeze until desired consistency. life after RNY--weightloss and itching?
Baker_gurl replied to ranee17's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have experienced this too. I thought it had to do something with the fact that I take water aerobics in a salt water pool, but maybe this has something to do with it too? -
Gave away clothes today!
Baker_gurl replied to Anniesmom12's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
I've given away a few baskets of clothes now. It was to a friend, so that helped with the attachment issues. I know that she really needed them. It's crazy now, when I shop for smaller clothes at goodwill, I can find all sorts of size 26/28 clothes and 22/24 are harder to find, grr! I can't wait to get to size 18 because there seems to be a lot of that size at the stores here! I can understand the fear. I've been a size 20+ for seriously as long as I can remember! I'm so ready for change! -
I had a similar problem! When I first started pre op, I could barely last 10 minutes. I've been trying to challenge myself lately. I now can do the interval setting for 40 minutes! I actually look forward to working out on the elliptical now! How crazy is that!! I read a fitness magazine while using and it makes the time fly by!

Has anyone lost 200lbs?
Baker_gurl replied to shawna29's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My total weight loss goal is 200. I had surgery 8/27/2012 and have lost 80 pounds so far. I can't weight to reach 100 pounds lost! I honestly thought I would lose faster, but I have to be patient and remember that gaining this weight has been a slow process also. -
I tried a chocolate peppermint Luna bar and it was heavenly! It's good every now and then for a snack with a little protein. It was like eating a cookie bar!

I have seen multiple people on fb state that they were eating junk food while watching the biggest loser, lol. When it first came out, I would watch it regularly, but I got out of the habit over the last few seasons. I feel like the show became more about the competition and money than the motivating lifestyle change. I'm hoping the addition of the kids will renew the excitement about the show. I'm going to start watching again. I feel like it will motivate me now that I'm on the healthy living track again. I'm glad that it's on tonight! I thought I had missed it! I like this show, but feel like its kinda unrealistic for most people. They work out upwards of 6 hours a day. Most people don't have that kind of time.

Experiencing extreme cold?
Baker_gurl replied to purpleamy's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I get cold a lot! I've had to buy a lot of fuzzy socks and carry an extra jacket or sweater with me. Thankfully, my work is always close to 80, so that's the one place that I stay warm, lol!
