    Any Ideas?

I had that at the beginning and the suggestion from my dr was I was drinking too quickly. I had to cut back to small sips about 10 min apart. Just be careful not to cut back too much as then I became dehydrated from fear of feeling that way again.
  2. Good luck with the gall bladder. It seems to be all liquids although I can tolerate hot tea a little better. And I'll ask about the other med. Thanks!
  3. Kiwi...I'm having the same issue. I can eat foods but get nauseous from liquids. I know we're not supposed to drink after food but it's the only way I get fluids. They gave me zofran but it's not helping.

    Post Surgery Question

Yes they told me to use the heating pad and don't be afraid to take any pain meds they gave you. It will subside after a few days and you won't need either.

    Sipping

Thanks Barebones...they did give me the script for Zofran but I was also trying to tough it out. I think I've gotten in about 20 oz today which was alot for me. Tomorrow I may just have to suck it up and use the meds.

    Sipping

Haven't tried the green tea...thanks for the hint I'm up for anything right now.

    Sipping

I'm having a really hard time with drinking and would like any advice. I've had to receive 3 bags of IV fluids this week from dehydration. When I sip I feel like I'm getting nauseous after 2 or 3 sips. I'm getting very discouraged right now. My dr said next time I'll have to be admitted.

    Pennsylvania Anyone?

Hope it works out...they're pretty flexible with you.

    Pennsylvania Anyone?

You might want to look at Magee Bariatric. I know most men don't think about going but there were several at my visits. They required one class per month which were held in the evenings and took no more than an hour. I only had two pre-op visits and my post op are one week, one month, three month, six month and one year. They are all scheduled for you ahead of time so requesting my days off is already in place through next year.

    Quart Low

I'm with you guys. I'm having such a hard time getting in even 16oz a day. Starting to feel weak but think I need a Fluid push. And I'm thinking a lunch able sounds good right now. No problem with foods but darn this liquid stuff.

    Day 2 Post Op

I'm with the others...8 days post op and I wake up with tons of energy then by 1pm need to rest or nap. Even though I wasn't very active pre surgery, I still didn't sit still. It's difficult making myself just sit and chill but we definitely need it. I was also up 6 lbs the day I came home but it disappears quickly. Little things get easier every day...hang in there!

    3 Days Out

Congrats Jess! The gas pains will subside in the next day or so or at least become much more manageable. Walking even small distances helped.
  14. Hey Paul...you're not crazy. I've been getting the dizzy/off balance feeling. Not constant but definitely something I never had. I attributed mine to needing more fuel in my body. As for the aches...yes have those too. Almost feels like I have that restless leg syndrome.

    How Much Have You Lost?

Surgery date was one week ago...that day was 221 -- today I'm 206.

    Super Excited Moment!

Woo hoo!! Congrats on that great news.
  17. I've been on liquids for almost two weeks now (5 days pre-op and 7 post op). My weight loss during that time has been about 1-2 lbs per day...some more some less. I have my one week follow up tomorrow and hope to graduate to purée food. The weight loss really does fluctuate for everyone. Just keep in mind it's not an easy road the first week or so. Between having mind hunger, lethargy from not getting food, and your body feeling like it was hit by a Mac truck...you'll want to break.

    Surgery On 8/10

That's about my routine. I take 2-3 walks each day even if it's at a store or my neighborhood. I've noticed though the days when I'm not taking in alot of liquid it's much harder to get the walks in. I have my one week dr appt tomorrow and hope they upgrade me to purée foods for more energy.

    Depression

Congrats on the loss thus far. So sorry to hear about the infection but don't let things get you down now. You've made such an important decision in your life and need to focus on moving forward. Things will look up soon...while I'm only a week post op I'm sure some of the veterans on here will chime in with some great words of wisdom from experience.

    Pennsylvania Anyone?

Greetings PA peoples. I saw a few of you going to Magee too. Just had my surgery last Thursday with Dr Eid. Everything went fine so I recommend him for anyone looking.
  22. I started doing the weekly weigh in about a month prior to surgery. It's been keeping me inspired through this liquid phase by seeing the numbers going down. Even with post op bloating it's still decreasing.

    Right After

My nutrition booklet says two weeks on liquids then getting in those shakes. I could've sworn though when I met with a nutritionist that I was supposed to start them sooner. Maybe it depends on each doc in the practice too. Just keeping my fingers crossed that my update with a nurse tomorrow gives me some slack.
