oye! that mustve sucked! Glad you're better! 2 weeks ago I had one kinda get stuck, my reaction was to chug the milk I was drinking them down with, well, it got the pill down, but was too much for my stomach to handle, so after 20m of waiting out the liquid to pass thru, I couldnt deal with it anymore and brought it up. instant relief! LOL

When did your weight loss slow down?
ladyspl replied to Jilllorraine's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am 8 weeks out today, started at 234 (5'2") and this morning scale said 195, so almost 40lbs in 2months. This last week the scale hasn't moved like it had been, but I also have barely been getting in 600 calories (been an emotionally bad week), but I'm hoping next week I will be able to get back to my protein requirements and see the scale move fast again LOL -
I am 8 weeks today and have been eating them since week 3. Luna bars have between 9-14gms and are super yummmmmmmie!
-
My dr said not to go above 15gms of sugar. I have not pushed it past 14gms, but the Dannon Lite and Fit Greek yogurt with strawberry or cherry, is AWESOME!!! It definitely is one of the ways I am able to make my daily quota of protein, and still feel like I've cheated with something naughty. LOL

Chewing and swallowing HELP
ladyspl replied to Jessica9190's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I take normal bites, but I chew them to a paste/puree consistency. If not then you will feel it, because you'll feel painfully full after just one bite. it will come, and if you should forget, you body will remind you. :-) I have made a few trips to the bathroom to bring up the pain. It's a learning process. -

My girls are 6, 4, and 22m. I'm 7 weeks out now, and if I what I'm making for them for dinner is not a good choice for me, I find something that is and still share the dinner table with my girls and husband. They are handfuls let me tell ya, but I'm working on better health so this summer we can rock the bikes, beach, amusement parks, etc!!!!! -

(Late Nov Early Dec Surgeries) - About 6 Weeks Post Op...
ladyspl replied to worm2872's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm 7 weeks as of yesterday. Been averaging 55-65 gms protein. Milk has been a good friend, it gives me protein and fluids and starts my morning off so that I can get food in. Oatmeal, Greek yogurt with fruit, protein bars that taste like candy bars but have 12gms of protein are awesome, ground beef, block cheese, all soups...these are just some of the things that help to fill in the calories for me. I have started working out and found that after a workout I drink a protein shake and I don't feel as tired the next day. That's really the only time I've been having a shake. I have been gtg in roughly 800-900 calories and have lost 35lbs. -
How do you know what your ideal weight should be?
ladyspl replied to gottagetfit's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My surgeon asked my goal, to which, I too, choose one that I had felt the most healthy in the past. According to insurance standards of BMI, my height would indicate a weight of 109-119, The lowest I have ever been was 124 and had ribs sticking out, sickly looking. I felt the best at 130, so that is my current goal. I say current because that weight was when I was 16years old, thats 18 years and 3 kids ago, so more than likely I will sit closer to 140-145 :-) -
How long did it take you?
ladyspl replied to Amanda R's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I made my decision in April, called insurance and got the name of an approved provider, called them and got an appointment in June. When received the surgeons info packet, called my PCP to start 6month supervised diet, that appointment was April 24th. Met with surgeon June 26th, then had pulmonary clearances, cardio clearances, psych eval, bloodwork, and meetings with nutritionist. Surgery was November 15th. -
What size are you now?
ladyspl replied to michelecaples's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
This question has vexed me recently. I have lost 34lbs. I started out with Lane Bryant 18's, that I bought in January and February 2012. Those jeans now fall off me. I saved my "skinny" jeans from when I had lost some weight after my last baby Feb 2011, and am currently rocking those, they are also LB size 18. WTF?! With all the size changing, I no longer feel I will ever see single digits. I mean, seriously, if I have lost 34lbs and have 80 to go, does that mean I will only see a 14? Loosing the 80lbs will put me at the weight I was in high school, when I was wearing 6-8!!! And we wonder why there is such an epidemic among our young girls to starve themselves and/or become bulimic?!?! Seriously! Since now size 12 is considered plus size, when in fact that size has been changed countlessly from its original size of 4, then dear God! We are defeating our young girls before they even try to love their bodies!!! -
Worst comment you've heard so far
ladyspl replied to michelecaples's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
So far I have been blessed with only one gf saying "You will feel better knowing you have accomplished it on your own, without surgery". It caused a rift for a bit, but the strength of our friendship shined thru and though she still doesn't feel I should have resorted to surgery, she is supportive and has shared in my ongoing success. That being said, I have told her, my 2 bff's, of course my husband knows, and then my MIL who in turn told the extended family. Unless the extended family is talking about me behind my back, to which I do not give a rats behind, they have not said anything negative. Now, about 10 days ago, I found out that my husband told 2 of his guy friends, that I am good friends with too (as well as their gf's) that I had surgery. I was actually devastated at first, until the conversation progressed and these guys told me how proud they were of me taking responsibility of my health and life. WHAT!? really?! :-) Then in typical them style, told me that they want to be the ones to take me bikini shopping and come in the fitting room with me. Dorks! LOL I don't know if they told their gf's, I hope not, at least not yet. I am a sarcastic blunt person buy nature, I don't avoid the elephant in the room, I also have always poked fun at my own fat, so if drama comes my way, I will not guarantee I have "the perfect response" because I don't sit here and dwell over it, but I assure you, that person will have an earful if they choose to come at me! Although some responses do come to mind, such as "I stayed fat for so long because to be smart, beautiful and thin would cause world worship, thus it was more of a public service really. However now, I think the world needs some leadership and I'm ready to take my place" Feel free to gratuitously steal that whenever you need it. Love you all! -
I dance walked at the YMCA indoor track today. Yes u read that right. I danced while walking. Several ppl around and it didn't stop me. ladyspl replied to michelecaples's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Oh God I don't want to loose my boobs :-( I have lost so much of them over the years of dieting. They are the only things that go when I have lost weight in the past, having gone from a very full C to barely in a B now :-( but I have a plan!!! When I hit goal weight, and depending on if the finances can handle it, mama's getting fake boobies!!! Then the only problem will be Dolly Partons or Pam Anderson's LOL! -
Anyone drink pop on a daily?
ladyspl replied to Amtlmt's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Just a thought...my husband and I were official Coke addicts (myself was Diet Coke) and approx 10 months ago, we made the decision that it had to go. I was breaking out like a 15 year old, and he had heartburn everyday all day. It was hard, but we went cold turkey. He continued to have it whenever we would go out to dinner, or parties, but nothing like we used to. So the last week before my surgery, I figured "Hey, I will probably never have it again, why resist?" and had some. Let's just say, it tasted like hell! It was definitely not what I expected. I really thought it would be my last great indulgence, when it really just sucked. However, it was enough to prove that tastebuds change. I really have no desire for it (5 weeks out). Much like the other folks have said, just accept your new normal and leave the pop/soda behind. Additional note, my face has cleared up, and my husbands heartburn is now able to be controlled with his medication, and he's not in agony all day. -

Thanks for everyone's responses. I finished up some minor Christmas shopping yesterday and decided to treat my kids to Wendy's (we have not had fast food nearly as much as before). So naturally I went for the chili. Now, this was the first time I have ever eaten their chili and it wasn't bad, but its not mine LOL I truly at 2 bites and was stuffed for 10m until it went down. Then 2 bites and stuffed again. I'm not trying to push it, just really want a sandwich! I want to bite down into a grilled chicken, lettuce, tomato, whole wheat bun, sandwich! LOL Sidenote, I picked up some Luna protein bars today and am licking my fingers from the mint chocolate one that just graced my lips, Dear God it was everything I have craved for the last 5 weeks! LOL and 12gms of protein!!! win/win! still loving the scale, cannot wait to see what it reads tomorrow for the Friday weigh in! LOL I'm in a really good mood. Blame it on the chocolate, blame it on the impending snow storm blowing its way into town tonight, or just call it Christmas spirit, but I feel good!!!!!! Perhaps its because I am breaking down and cheating tonight....I had full intentions of donating my hair to Locks of Love, but after 3 months of blah, lifeless, raggity hair, I just cannot do it anymore! So tonight I am getting a new do! I think it will also help me to get out of my funk. I just havent felt pretty because of it. so hopefully tomorrow I will have a new lease on life! LOL -

Everything's going great, and I'm grateful. However I wonder, how long will it be until I can finish a serving of something? Like when will I be able to eat more than 1/4c? I'm in no rush, so please don't think I am. I'm just curious. I'm 5weeks out and down almost 30lbs. I guess I'm just thinking ahead to my bffs wedding in may. As to whether I will be able to actually eat semi normally. I don't mean eat the whole buffet either LOL -
few things on my mind...

I have an excellent insurance policy and still had to pay for the psych eval out of pocket. You will read thru this forum, that most insurance companies do not pay for the psych eval portion of this process. I hope that you do find one that is willing to accept your insurance, but just prepare yourself in the event that you must pay out of pocket for it. Mine cost $170. -
