August 15th is my scheduled date!
Doxielover replied to libra's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Hi There! I am August 15th too. I will be done by Dr. Cobourn in Mississauga, Ontario. -
McDonald's is in the past, you only have two days to go. Get your milk and yogurt down...and appreciate the fact that come Sunday, they never have to pass your lips again. YOU CAN DO THIS!

The Crazy Ates invites all August banders to join us!

Hi, I'm Lisa, I will be banded on August 15th. I can hardly wait. -
My final straw was my Dad passed away in April from stomach cancer. I knew then that I had to make drastic changes in my life. It took me until July and everything below my waist hurting from the weight to realize the time is now.

What do I tell my 10 yr old daughter?
Doxielover replied to Sooverit!'s topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I totally agree with Susan, tell her what you are doing and tell her why. Banding can be something you do with her support and encouragement. She can help keep you on the straight and narrow with your food choices and she will self educate at the same time. I think you should be honest and let her know this is about you and your health and not her. I would not even mention her weight in the conversation at all. I would invite her to go on walks with you and keep you motivated. Maybe you can even set up some sort of allowance system. She goes for a 1/2 hour walk with you 4 days a week she gets $5.00? Bring her to the grocery store with you and go through labels together with everything you bring into the house. This is a perfect opportunity for you. She is at a great age to learn about health and nutrition, and lose weight with you (she does not need to know that) so she doesn't have to suffer later in life like we do. -

Please tell me not to lose hope - please!
Doxielover replied to pinkmaskara's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Have you had any other medical issues tested? Specifically thyroid? Talk to your family doctor before you get another fill and make sure you do not have another underlying condition making it harder for you to lose weight. It could even be a side effect of your heart medication. Don't give up! Maybe try Weight Watchers or another type of program in combination with your band. You can battle on two fronts. The band can control your hunger and WW can keep you on the right path with your food choices. -
Optifast makes me homicidal! :)

Good question, I wonder that myself. Right now I am not telling anyone (other than my hubby and everyone on Lapbandtalk ), even my Mom won't know. Maybe after the actual surgery I will tell more people. -
Got My Date...freaking out...can I do this
Doxielover replied to lovestoned's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am going for my surgery two days before you. I have a few nerves, but I am not freaking out. I am so excited I truly can not wait for August 15th to get here. All surgery is serious and carries risks, but compared to other types your chances of a positive outcome are a lot better. This board is great because you get so much support. I saw a thread yesterday with before and after pictures, and it was such an inspiration, I can't wait to get my after picture up there! Sadly that means there will need to be a before pic too :faint: -
