Do you use liquid Motrin (Ibuprofen)?
Doxielover replied to TerriDoodle's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I was just told by both my family doctor and pharmacist to use the children's version of tylenol, gravol and imodium - just double the dosage. I am one of those freaks that loves the taste! -
Why liguids for 3 weeks?
Doxielover replied to NewMeNJ's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
You must let your stomach heal. Also you want to make sure you do not vomit and eating solid foods too fast can do that. Hang in there! I am suffering right along with you in bandster hell! -
Good Luck! Please give us an update post.

ACK!!! This cannot be right!
Doxielover replied to voodookitty's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Just a though...you said you lost one pound since your consultation? Did you start you restriction on the next day? See from my consult to first day of diet I gain 11 pounds on my "good-bye food tour" so I had to take that off before I even got to my consultation weight. So if you did something similar, you might be loosing significant weight. Don't stress though. One pound down -- it is still going in the right direction! :clap2: -
If your is like mine, it is mushies first and then puree - correct? I haven't hit pureed yet and I am dreading it. I will probably stretch mushies too. BUT I think the point of it is to increase your protein and see your tolerance to meats etc. It must be an important stage or they wouldn't have you do it. If you really have a tough time, contact your surgeon and ask for some advice.

How sore was your abdomen?
Doxielover replied to guinessgirl77's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Never had a c-section. Day 1 I felt like I was hit by a Mac truck. Day 3 I felt like I was hit by a Mini Cooper. Day 6 I only have a slight pain when getting in or out of bed, or if I try to do things too fast or bend in a stupid position. Remember to bring a flat pillow to the clinic with you, so you can tuck in under your seatbelt going home. I still do that even now in case my hubby stops fast. -
What a great achievement!

You might want to try Biotene, we get it from Walmart or our local pharmacy. It is always on the lowest shelf, below the Scope on Listerine, so you might not have ever seen it before. My husband has sleep apnea and his doctor recommended it for his cotton mouth.

I am 6 days post-op and also a belly sleeper. I am going to try and describe the position I am sleeping in. I prop up a bunch of pillows at the head of the bed, got as high up as I possible can, then I lift my left bum cheek and put a pillow under there and another pillow under my right arm. It is kinda how I slept on my tummy but in reverse and I am sleeping pretty well. Of course the gravol helps a LOT too.

Gas In Cheast And Arms After Lap Band Surgery
Doxielover replied to ilovefood's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Gas-x and walking the only two things that worked for me! It really will break up the more you walk. -
Just follow your doctors orders. Remember to take it really easy. Get up and walk, walk, walk to get rid of the gas (I am day 5 and still getting rid of it). GOOD LUCK!
-
Thank you, thank you, thank you! I looked at my husband and said, OMG, my stitches are so itchy today, and then I opened this thread and you were banded the same day as me. Nice to know I am not going crazy.....well...more crazy!
-
I am doing really good! I was super sore the first two days, especially getting in and out of bed...ouch! That is still the worst...that and the gas pain. I really like Dr. Cobourn and the staff at the clinic. I was hoping to see Michee online, because she had surgery the same day as me. This is something interesting. In the recovery room the girl after me was thrashing around on her bed she was totally freaking me out, it hurt like a son-of-a-gun to get up and into the wheel-chair. I keep thinking about that girl and her stitches and band. The staff was cracking me up. "Dear, please stop doing that". It's now day 3 and I am up and about, and feeling good. I never though I would say this, but I was so happy to have my opti-fast this morning, I was so hungry. I didn't mean to hijack your thread Sweet! I am glad you are feeling better. :clap2::clap2::clap2::clap2:

Did the de-fill help?
-
I wonder that at least 20 times a day.
-
Congrats! And welcome to bandland!
-
Congrats! I was banded yesterday by Dr. Cobourn in Mississauga. My general tummy area is quite sore, and it hurts like crazy to get in and out of bed, but I am doing okay otherwise. All I can think of is if the band is causing this type of pain post-op what the heck to by-pass patients fell like?

Weight Lost on Liquids...
Doxielover replied to PigsRFlying's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
3 weeks = 29 lbs :whoo::whoo:on Optifast -
Hey Michelle, I hope to see you there today. I am way too excited to be cranky. Although I too can't wait until the surgery is over. Good luck today, I will be thinking of you! I am just getting ready to head off to the clinic now.

trying to still be positive
Doxielover replied to andielmt's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I read on this board "nothing tastes as good as thin / healthy feels" and I bet that McDonald's really didn't taste so great. Before my pre-op I did a huge "good-bye food tour" which caused me to gain 10 extra pounds :girl_hug: Hang in there, take one meal at a time, so you messed up...move forward and don't focus on the negative but all the good healthy meals you have had. Don't fall into the trap, well I messed up once, I might as well give up! Get back on your healthy horse and make your next meal a good one. -
Kind of Gross question But....
Doxielover replied to Happyhayley15's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was specifically told by our clinic, to wear my big ol' panties and a pad - absolutely NO TAMPON! You might want to double check with your clinic what their policy is. -
Congrats! I will be joining you in 7 days in Bandland. If Dr. C. uses those lines on me, I'll have to tell him he needs some new material LOL!

Mine is $16,000 Canadian, plus $300.00 for 4 weeks of Optifast.

Sick Of Veggies
Doxielover replied to andreerichards1's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I hear ya Sister! I am sick of them too, most days I just do the 3 Optifast and maybe a V8 (the little one serving ones) once a day. I actually am not hungry. I put lots of benefiber in my optifast, so I think that might help. I still have 2+ weeks of this though.
