Protein/food/enough Calories
Mrs.D replied to TinyMamiOf3kids's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
800 calories doesn't sound like enough if you are doing 90 min of exercise everyday...but I'm no expert...I'm only 2 weeks out. What does your doc say? -
I have Anthem too, approval was really quick, after Nutritionist visit and Psych consult. Good luck!

I bought it on the unjury website. It's pricey. You can also try the wonderslim products...they make some protein soups as well. -

Yes, try the unflavored from GNC...more affordable and you can put it in whatever. I can taste it but not too bad. -
Protein/food/enough Calories
Mrs.D replied to TinyMamiOf3kids's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I drink a 30g protein shake first thing in the am, one after lunch, and try for at least 1/2 a shake after dinner...totaling around 75g...as my dr recommends 60-90g. Plus cottage cheese and Greek yogurt are great sources of protein. The shake I drink are from Premiere nutrition I also alternate w Unjury...which gives 20g of Protein in 6 oz. -
Are you getting in all your Protein?

Mrs.D replied to fluffylady's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I didn't have a drain either...my surgeon hasn't used them for 10 years...but I'm surprised with the number of people that still get them, given the infections that often accompany. For those of you ladies a drain site infections, hang in there-hope You are better soon! -

I'm told if you hit a plateau, change up the exercise routine, add protein, and make sure you are not washing out your pouch by drinking and eating at the same time. You have done phenomenal so far, so you know this is just temporary!
-
I had lap, not open. Some people still get drains, but I didnt...Not as bad as a c-section at all...other than the first 12 hours...pain is controlled. I'm a week out and walking a mile a day, never could have done that after my c-section.
-
I'm also one week out and I do the same, sleep on my side leaning on a pillow. I was worried as many people had said they had to sleep in a recliner for a week? I was lucky to be able to sleep in my bed I guess:)
-
I had no drain, thank God. Just lap incisions closed w/ Dermabond. After surgery, pain prob a 9... Now, 5 dpo maybe a 1.5
-
Beachbum, you are lucky to be able to have cottage cheese and thick soup...just 3 days after surgery. I was on 6/20 and still on full liquid...but In so glad that you are doing well!!! Cooking dinner can be hard.
