K Wait, So No Alcohol Ever?!
Mrs.D replied to jadeharper's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It's not recommended, although I've had a cocktail here and there. There is a high incidence of people developing an addiction because of the way it metabolizes. I know many people that are post bypass and drink socially without issue. -
I was told to do chewables/liquid for first mo

Never Feel Hungry Post Surgery
Mrs.D replied to Roman1's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Liquid stage sucks...you guys will feel Much better once you can chew something;) be careful with protien water, it fills you up but not much protein. Can you drink protien shakes? If you can get up to 60-70g of protien you won't feel so weak -
Paul, check out the blog Theworldaccordingtoeggface She is a great cook that had bariatric surgery...she has some great weight loss friendly holiday recipes, high in protien low in carbs.
-
I came home from hospital on full liquids ( some people came home on clear liquids), I had: soup- not chunky, sf fudgesicles and Popsicles, propel Water, soy milk, crystal light, and protien shakes....make sure to get your protien shakes- most important:) shortly thereafter I started eggs, cottage cheese and Greek yogurt. Good luck!
-
Your surgeon should Review all of that with you and provide you a list. Most people are on liquids for a while. Do u have a list?
-
At 12 days I was on all liquids so if you are having egg, you are getting more than I was. I'm 7 weeks and it gets much better. Just focus on protien, it will get better:)

Some doctors use a drainage tube, to drain fluid out of one of the incisions. Mine didn't use that either. I guess I lucked out. No drain no catheter. Maybe your surgeon doesn't use either good luck.
-
I never had one...my surgeon doesn't use them.

Mrs.D replied to kiwiladydee's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Popcorn? Rice? I was told to avoid both so crazy how different docs have different rules. -
Have you been drinking alcohol? A friend of mine was drinking and smoking a lot, rather early on and she developed an ulcer at the top opening of her pouch. Needed surgery to repair.
